The New River supports fishing, kayaking, and canoeing, while the New River Trail is 51 miles of walking, bicycling, or horseback riding. Nearby is the Blue Ridge Parkway, which you can visit Chateau Morrisette, Blue Ridge Music Center or Mabry Mill which is the most photographed mill in the nation.br brHillsville hosts the largest single-town flea market east of the Mississippi. The Flea Market and Gun Show is held annually on Labor Day Weekend. The Beaver Dam Nature Trail for hiding is located 5 minutes from the farmhouse.brbrFor history buffs, Hillsville is the location of the 1912 Courthouse Tragedy involving the Allen family. The town was gaining headline news across the country when the sinking of the Titanic took the nation's attention. You can see the historic courthouse with original bullet holes in the steps, the renovated unique Allen home, and the Felts Mansion, Cliffview, built by the one owner of the Felts-Baldwin Detective Agency which was instrumental in bringing the shooters to justice. My farmhouse has some good reads on the original event. We happily share it with lots of amazing wildlife including black bears, deer, bunnies, foxes, skunks, raccoons, groundhogs, bobcats, wild turkeys, snakes, newts, mice, birds, spiders, bats, and insects. You will encounter some or all of these native creatures during your stay. Needless to say, If you freak out when you see a bug or a bear, this might not be your happy place.brbrWe have two, 50-inch smart TVs (one on each level). There is no cable service, but we do provide Netflix, Peacock TV, Paramount+ and a variety of free Samsung Channels. You can also sign into your own streaming accounts.brbrWe are fortunate to have high speed internet in the mountains! It is typically very reliable and outages are rare, but they can happen. My husband and I have worked for months from Cloud Nine without any issues---dueling Zoom calls and all.brbr**For health and safety reasons, we are a 100% smoke-free property. This means smoking/vaping is not allowed inside, on the decks, or outside on the property. brbr**We love kids! Unfortunately, due to the height and nature of our decks and the steepness of our property, it is not as safe as we'd like for young children. Mother Earth offers Mountain View’s, star gazing thru the dome, soaking in the bathtub or stargazing from the hot tub, and near the Blue Ridge Parkway. Fire pits with wood, a wonderful place for small groups with two other yurts, all at different elevations for privacy. We have Starlink internet, and an enclosed deck that is convenient for a small child or pets, and a sleeper sofa and a twin blow up mattress for the occasional xtra guests. Bluetooth music is an added bonus! No extra charge for the fresh mountain air, cool crisp mornings, and skies made for stargazing. I provide several coffee options with locally ground coffee. several nearby places for breakfast and lunch and many great hikes a short drive from the yurt. Also nearby horseback riding, zip lining, the Blue Ridge Music Center, and canoe/kayak rentals. Also a generator is ready to handle the power during ice or snow storms.

Discover the beauty of Hillsville from this enchanting tiny cabin, solar powered and on grid as needed,sitting on five acres, with a hot tub perched on a deck overlooking the creek. The bathroom has a composting toilet that is spotless,a tiny kitchenette with locally ground coffees, small fridge, cooler on the deck, a Blackstone grill on the deck, along with a propane firepit, deck furniture and a cooking wood fire-pit by the creek, and potable water from a five hundred foot well. brThere is an additional bathhouse with a conventional toilet and an outside shower.brThe sofa is also a sleeper sofa, and the place lights up at night with the solar powered lanterns and lights. Trout fishing is great from September til June. This cabin is down a steep incline. I have a driveway at the bottom and at the top of the hill if you choose to walk down. It is 150 ft from the gated entrance, and a six mile drive from I-77 and The Blue Ridge Parkway.
