The lake side of the house is all windows, giving you a spectacular view from the living room, dining room, kitchen and master bedroom, and is entirely fronted by a large deck and two screened-in porches for the perfect happy hour setup. The upstairs master suite features a king bed, full bath, office space, sitting area, walk-in closet and laundry room with a west-facing view. Enjoy amazing views of the lake and sunsets over the Adirondack Mountains from your king bed, office or comfortable couch. There are three more bedrooms and a full bath downstairs for the rest of the family: one with a queen bed, one with two twin beds, and one with a single twin bed. brbrThe house is situated on a large private lot at the end of a long driveway that is screened on all sides by trees and features a ramp down to a private sand/gravel beach in a large bay, which provides a perfect swimming and boating area protected from the wind and waves of the main lake. Spend the day in the water, on the beach, lounging in the deck chairs in the sun, or sampling cocktails and hors d'oevres on the screened in porch as the sun sets. In cooler weather, enjoy the same view from your comfortable living room or around the large dining room table with friends. The house is fully equipped with a modern kitchen, wifi, Smart TV to stream your channels, and air conditioning/heat for a comfortable stay. brbrIf you prefer to get out and do more, you can fish, paddleboard, canoe or kayak in the bay or out in the main lake. Snowfarm winery with their homemade wine, lunch specialties and Thursday night concerts is a short walk down the road, the Lake Champlain Bike Trail and lots of other great bike rides beckon right at the top of the driveway, and there are wonderful walks in the conservation areas on the island. If you're looking for something a little more adventurous, in 20 minutes you're shopping or going to a concert in Burlington, in 45 minutes you're at the trailhead for Mt. Mansfield or entering the Shelburne Museum, and in an hour and a half you're in beautiful Montreal! And don't forget the winter activities - there is great XC skiing, ice skating and ice fishing on the island, and the major ski areas like Smugglers Notch, Stowe and Sugarbush are less than an hour away. brbrIf you forget something or don't feel like cooking, there are grocery stores, farm stands, craft shops, bakeries and numerous restaurants on the islands, just across the causeway in Milton, Burlington or St. Albans, or a short, scenic ferry ride away in Plattsburg, NY. Whatever you are looking for, your adventure (or escape) awaits!brbrTHINGS TO KNOW:brBOATS: No boats are provided by the host, but guests may bring their own. There is a concrete ramp to the beach where you can launch small boats like kayaks or canoes. No mooring is available, and boats cannot be tied up to the dock overnight - they must be pulled up onto shore each night. Storms and winds are extremely variable and can come up on short notice - do not take paddle boards or canoes outside of the bay, wear/carry life jackets at all times, and pull boats completely up on the beach each evening.brDOCK: A dock may or may not be available, depending on the time of year and the water level of the lake. Fluctuations in water level vary over the summer and may preclude the use of the dock or boats in parts of the bay.brTV: Streaming services are available on guest's own accounts.brGRILL: Propane grill is available for use on the side porch.

Recently renovated, it has a lovely modern kitchen and pantry. A set of steps takes you from the back lawn down to the lake where you can fish and swim. During most of the summer, the dock is set up. You can spend the entire week just exploring the Islands. But it's an easy drive to Burlington, Shelburne Farms or Stowe. We may be able to accommodate your pet, but will need to discuss it when you book your vacation. brbrBoats: The dock does not have a boat launch. But don't worry. There are plenty of places around the Islands where you can launch your power boat or sailboat. To the north, North Hero Marina rents canoes, kayaks, pontoon boats and a 15-foot fishing boat. Hero's Welcome General Store also rents non-motorized vessels. To the south, Apple Island Marina rents row boats, power boats, pontoon boats, kayaks, and canoes. Boat launches maintained by Vermont's Department of Fish & Wildlife can be found at Keeler Bay, Allen Point in South Hero, Sand Bar in Milton, Vantines in Grand Isle and Stephensen's Point in North Hero. brbrBiking: Because of the flat roads and gorgeous scenery, many bike tours come through the area, including VBT, Discovery Bicycle Tours, Backroads and Bike Vermont. The Lake House is within close proximity to the Lake Champlain Bikeway, a 363-mile principal route around the entire Lake and along the Richelieu River to Chambly, Québec. You can also take the Bike Ferry across “the Cut” ( just 200 feet) which takes you on a 14-mile recreational trail called the Island Line Trail. If you would like to rent bikes for a few days, bike rentals for kids and adults are available at the Allenholm Farm. brbrSandy Beaches and State Parks: There are four state parks in the Islands along Rt 2: Sandbar, Grand Isle, Knight Point and North Hero. You can find sandy beaches, places to picnic, walking/hiking trails and boat rentals. If you are looking for a terrific beach, the Sand Bar State Park has a good one. The smooth, sandy lake bottom remains shallow well out from shore, making this an ideal swimming spot for children. That, and the uninterrupted length of sandy beach, very high quality water in this section of the lake, and well-kept facilities combine to make Sand Bar the most visited day park in the state. Day passes are available.brbrFishing: Around the Lake Champlain Islands you will find Lake Trout, Landlocked Atlantic Salmon, Yellow Perch, Northern Pike, Largemouth Bass, Smallmouth Bass, Panfish, Bowfin, Carp, Longnose Gar, White Perch, Yellow Perch, Walleye, Northern Pike, Chain Pickerel, Bullhead, Panfish and Black Crappie. Lake Champlain Anglers maintains a website with over 60 pages about fishing in Lake Champlain. You might also like to visit the the Ed Weed Fish Culture Station and visitor center. It is the newest and largest of the five fish culture stations owned and operated by the state of Vermont. It is only 1.3 miles from our house. brbrWeddings: Vermont is one of the top wedding destinations in the world. The beautiful, pastoral Champlain Islands is one of the best places to tie the knot. The Grand Isle Lake House, one of the most popular wedding venues in the state, is just seven miles from our house.brbrGreat Food: Rich soils and a year round temperature moderated by Lake Champlain contribute to the high quality of the Islands agriculture. You will eat very well here in the Islands! Our favorite restaurants are The North Hero House, The Blue Paddle and Shore Acres. Don't miss the Champlain Islands Farmers Markets -- May through September at the St. Rose of Lima Church. Snow Farm Winery, Vermont’s first commercial grape vineyard, is open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. for tours and tastings, but locals know that it’s best experienced in concert with live music outdoors on Thursday evenings. Weather permitting, Snow Farm brings in popular local acts to complement the sunset. The Islands are also perfect for pick-your-own outings. You can pick your own berries at Pomykala Farm in Grand Isle and pick your own apples at the local orchards. (We have three apple trees and one pear tree at the Lake House and you are welcome to eat as much as you like!)brbrVisit Farms: Right across the road, a lovely herd of cows graze and moo. You can also see farm animals at the Allenholm Farm where Fergie, the Scotch Highland Cow lives with some sheep, rabbits, goats, miniature horses and donkeys. brbrFossils: If you look carefully, you can find small fossils embedded in the rocks on the beach at our house. (You are more than welcome to bring the fossil rocks home with you.) If you like fossils, the fossilized corals that make up the Chazy Reef on Isle La Motte are definitely worth a visit. Paleontologists believe the reef was formed almost half a billion years ago, when Lake Champlain was part of the shallow Iapetus Ocean. At the Goodsell Ridge Fossil Preserve, a well-marked path leads through the field to swirled skeletal remains of cephalopods and stromotoporoids. “Discovery Areas” are numbered and identified.brbrMotorcycle Touring: Come for a week and explore Vermont on your motorcycles. U.S Route 2 runs through the lake Champlain Islands on scenic, well maintained roads. The 40 - 50 miles between Alburg and Burlington's offers world-class class scenery with the Green mountains on one side and the Adirondacks on the other. Or ride north to St. Anne's Shine or south to Stowe. If you take the ferry, you can hop over to New York.brbrFor questions, please email.
