The island seats 2 and the kitchen table seats 6. A gas fireplace with custom mantel and hearth is the focal point of the room and it is flanked by 2, deep seated club chairs. The Oliver Rice House is a private estate tucked away right in beautiful downtown Manchester, Vermont. Stunning mountain views abound at this nearly four-acre property complete with pond and pool access, yet you can walk to all your favorite in-town locations. The estate consists of The Oliver Rice House and adjacent barn, built in 1768, along with a second historic barn, and the charming Wheelwright shop (soon to be a tiny movie theater), circa 1770. All of the buildings are oozing with period architectural detail and have been lovingly cared for. As well as the adjacent pond, the backyard of the Oliver Rice house connects to the town recreational fields, with tennis, new track, skateboard park, soccer fields, etc. The barn itself has horse stalls on its lower level where we keep chickens these days. There is even an outhouse on the property that belonged to the famous artist Grandma Moses, as well as a used bookstore/coffeeshop on the property. This is a lovely, historic, quirky property in the mountains of Vermont with easy access to world-class trails, natural areas to swim, farms, etc., and is only three hours from Boston and Montreal, 3.5 from New York City.

Our town has an incredible amount to do with many great restaurants, outlet shops, art galleries, the Hildene Estate, Southern VT Arts Center, and lots more. Stratton Mountain and Bromley Resorts for alpine skiiers as well as Wild Wings and Viking Resorts for cross country enthusiasts are all 12 to 19 minutes away. You can even practice cross country skiing or break in your snowshoes in the backyard of the house as well as explore many of the cross-country, snowshoe and hiking trails throughout the area. After a day of adventure, enjoy time in front of the fireplace and 65 TV in the living room, watch TV and relax in Bedrooms 1 (42) and 3 (65), or relax, read or do a bit of extra work at the desks in Bedroom 2, 3, 4 and the office. You’ll also see my horse barn(future chicken coop for fresh eggs) and the orchard I’m growing. The living room has a daybed with a pull out trundle bed offering two twin beds with memory foam mattresses. Smart TV mounted and a very strong wifi signal.
