Walker Pond is approximately 20 acres and is home to plenty of wildlife, small fish and transient birds. You are welcome to enjoy our 40 acres of forest/wetland, go canoeing in one of our canoes, or enjoy the common campfire-flower garden area.brbrThe cabin is located just 5 minutes from downtown Newport.brbrUnique in design, this rustic cabin is fully functioning with all the essentials provided to make your stay comfortable. The custom built French windows open completely so you will have a great view of the pond! Everything inside is custom built, including the tile shower. Also included is a mini kitchen that contains essentials to prepare basic meals, gas grill, charcoal grill, large wall mounted TV, wifi, coffee, tea and our popular waffles.brbrYou will have access to the land and pond, so we invite you to go on a nature walk, have a campfire or go canoeing. You never know what kinds of animals you might see! So far we have seen moose, deer, bear, Osprey, Eagles, turkey, geese, ducks, heron, owls, otter, huge turtles, fish, and frogs.... just to name a few. You might meet him if we bring him along with us at your arrival.brbrWe live on the property and do not have neighbors around it, although you will see two houses across the pond, that's the closest neighbors.brbrHaving a vehicle is easy to get around town. There is no lift or Uber or even taxis available in our area. brbrIn winter months, having winter tires or even better an AWD system vehicle is a must. Winter in Vermont is harsh with roads being very slippery.brbrWe have a second rental, the Treehouse on Walker Pond. It's about 200 ft from the Osprey Cabin .

The mud room/washroom is adjacent to to the kitchen and open to the backyard. Two porches make this house an ideal place to relax and enjoying the view of the lake.brDownstairs there is a futon also, off the dining room, great for a nap or for someone who has difficulty with stairs.brThe screened in porch, on the east side with a view of the lake, is great for morning coffee and listening to a occasional loons or geese. In the evening, you may also enjoy the fire pit.brIt is a great place for families and friends to be together or just getting away from it all.brbrThere is an outdoor grill for the BBQ enthusiasts.brbrLocated only 2 miles from the center of Newport, this is a real getaway! We have a private access to South Bay which offer great fishing summer and winter, great kayaking or boating but not a swimming beach. More information on the fishing on the web site of Vermont fish and wildlife.brbrWe are close to several beaches (3.5 miles to 15 miles) . Newport has a walking trail along the lake that is also a bike trail. We are close to many hiking trails , ATV and snowmobile trail.brThere is few golf course around also.brJayPeak has great skiing and year around Waterpark at about 30 minutes away. br *Additional Information: Our private access beside the house , let you drive to the lake and unload your watercraft. In winter__there are large private fields surrounding the farmhouse where you can cross-country ski and snowshoe.

Only 5 minutes from downtown Newport yet watching sunrise over the lake or sunset around the fire pit gives you a feeling of seclusion. brbrbrbrbrbr-South Bay Fishing Access 4 minutes away br-Jay Peak Resort 30 minutes awaybr-Burke Mountain 1 hour away br-Stowe 1 hour away br- Multiple other Lakes and hiking trails within a 40 minute drivebrbr-brThe White Owl Cottage is located at the end of a private road with seasonal neighbors. This cottage was built in the 1940's and it was there the name was established. The waters are shallow at this end of the lake (not the best for swimming) but there is 100ft of beach frontage to enjoy with 51 steps down stairs to the water. brbrbr- The Cottage has a main floor that is an open concept, with a propane fireplace. Grab a beverage from the coffee bar and walk right to the living room, main bedroom or screened in porch where you can enjoy the sunrise coming up over the lake. brbrbr-The basement has been newly redone to include two bedrooms that each have a window facing the lake. The second bathroom has a stand up shower and an open room at the bottom of the stairs with books and games to use. brbrbr- Outside there is dining patio set and fire pit with a view of the lake as well as a storage shed that contains different games/toys for guests to use. Top of the stairs is a small deck with more seating to look over the lake.brbrbrGuests have access to the entire house, at this time the garage and owners closet in the basement are off limit to guests.brbrbr5 minutes from Downtown Newport, multiple restaurants and views, this town is located right on Lake Memphremagog.brbrbrThe town has on street free parking.brbrbr-Parking for 4 vehicles, please stay to the left of the white marking line. The neighbors to the left of the cottage are seasonal in the summer, please do not block their right of way. brbrbr-The cottage is surrounded by farming fields, please do not park in the fields and be aware that to make the grass grow the fields are spread with manure 2 times a year. brbrbr- The stairs are newly redone but are steep with 51 steps to the bottom. brbrbr- The lake water is shallow and mucky as the bay was created due to deforestation and the building of a dam in 1883. brbrbr-The beach is for guest use with a fire pit and firewood. The dock is the neighbors. brbrbr- If you would like additional kayak, canoe or paddle board rentals you are able to rent them from the Great Outdoors in downtown Newport.
