They are located in our basement that is unfinished and not ideal for consistent use. We are able to make this available to you if requested**brbr*Getting there*brOur cabin is tucked away in the peaceful mountain woods, which means getting here includes a winding uphill drive that turns into a one-lane gravel road with a few pull-offs along the way. It’s part of the charm—but also something to be prepared for!brbrOur gravel road can have potholes whether it’s rainy or dry, so expect a few bumps along the way. During wet weather, it can also get muddy and a bit more challenging to drive. While 4WD/AWD isn’t required outside of winter (I personally use a 2WD), it’s definitely recommended—especially if you're not familiar with mountain roads or if rain is in the forecast.brbr--Low-clearance cars are not a good idea.br--4WD/AWD is a must in the winter months in case of snow/ice. brbrWe want you to love your stay, so please make sure you’re comfortable with a bit of an adventurous drive. We don’t offer refunds for road-related issues or concerns.brbrbrNEARBY ATTRACTIONS! brbrFrench Broad Adventures-20 min drive-Paddle down the famous French Broad RiverbrbrBlue Heron Whitewater Rafting-20 min drivebrbrSmoky Mountain Trail Rides and Sandy Bottom Trail Rides-25 min drive-Horse back riding brbrHike Lovers Leap Loop-35 min drive- Located in Hot Springs, 1.8 mile hike to a view of gorgeous mountains and the french broad river-part of the Appalachian Trailbrbr45 minutes to Asheville, Navitat Canopy Adventures (Ziplining!) and tons of hikes!brbrDowntown Marshall-28 minsbrbrDowntown Hot Springs-35 minsbrbrBig Pillow Brewing Hot Springs-35 minsbrbrSkiing 50-60 mins to both Zip N Slip and Hatley Pointe Ski ResortbrbrAddison Farms Winery-45 minsbrbrFox Hill Meadery-45 minsbrbr*Other things to note...*brIngles is the closest grocery store, 25 minutes from the cabin so please plan accordingly. Walmart is 40 minutes south towards Asheville. brbrPlease note-It's a gravel road for 1.5 miles that's windy and can have potholes/muddy areas during rainy times. Please consider you and your vehicles capability to make it up the mountain.br4WD/AWD required in winter months-our road doesn't get much sun so it can ice over if cold enough. brbrWe do not supply firewood or propane for the outdoor grill.brbrHeating- propane fireplace in the living room & portable electric heater brCooling- 1 window unit upstairs, get's it cool very quick!brbrThere is no outside trash can, as to not attract the local wildlife to join your vacation.brbrNote for longer stays--we do not have trash service, but we do have a free trash facility close by.brbrThe cabin is immersed within nature, therefore we coexist with the local critters and if doors/windows are left open, they may wander inside even though we utilize a pest service.brbrOTHER DETAILS TO NOTE:brShipping to the house is not guaranteed, since the home is not a primary residence, mail is forwarded.brbrNATURE NOTE:brBeing surrounded by the woods means you’re truly one with nature! While we do have regular pest control, you may still encounter a few adventurous insects.brbrWe try to accommodate early check in’s for $25 per hour and can confirm only on the day of check in. Unfortunately, we can’t accommodate late check outs. The Doe Branch Cabin - Modern Mountain Retreat

Marshall, North Carolina, United States

Sense of Place. That is the inspiration here, at least in part. The cabin is situated on 12 private acres in a remote corner of Madison County, surrounded by national forest, streams, and clear mountain air. The property has a history of artist residents, and we encourage creatives of all types to come seek the inspiration found by those that came before. The town of Marshall, an artistic enclave, is 25-30 minutes away, and downtown Asheville is a 45-50 minute drive. Hiking and rafting nearby.brThe spacebrWe aim to provide a comfortable, modern experience in a classic Appalachian Mountain locale. This log cabin has been updated with a new kitchen and bathroom, and the furnishings have been hand picked for style and comfort. The loft bedroom, wrapped in natural wood, features a queen bed and a sitting area from which to absorb the long range view of mountains and forest. There is also a queen size sofa bed in the living room (with foam topper located in closet under stairs for extra comfort). The full bath has a clawfoot tub/shower, and there is an additional outdoor shower with a view during the warm months. The kitchen is fully appointed for cooking.brGuest accessbrAccess provided by a door code given upon booking. Parking available for two vehicles.brOther things to notebrThe cabin is reached via a 1.5 lane gravel mountain road. While a four wheel drive or all wheel drive vehicle is not necessary (except in snow), many people feel more comfortable with that.brPlease be advised that we do occasionally get significant snow in the winter, and this may cause the road to our property to be impassable for several days.
