Perched on a hill in North Carolina's Smoky Mountains, this is the perfect get-away for 2. This 4-acre home combines modern amenities with pristine views of forests, mountains, wildlife and sunsets. Beautifully appointed interior plus a huge deck offer an effortless indoor/outdoor lifestyle in which to unwind and recharge. Secluded yet easy to access, it's an ideal home base for exploring the area's many ways to play amid nature's beauty, from outdoor sports to scenic drives to relaxing hotsprings.

THE HOUSE:
Set in 4 acres of unspoiled forests and looking out on all sides over the majestic Smoky Mountains, this hilltop home takes full advantage of its spectacular views. The spacious deck with gas grill and dining table is the perfect spot for relaxing while you breathe the fresh air, watch the sunset and greet the bears, bobcats, deer, raccoons, turkeys, hawks, eagles and owls that wander by. Despite its seclusion in a national park-like area, access is refreshingly easy via paved roads and a convenient highway exit.

Indoors, modern luxury reigns supreme. Fully furnished with deluxe leather seating, gourmet kitchen appliances, charming tableware, upscale towels and linens, down-alternative comforters and elegant colorful quilts. State-of-the-art electronics include wireless internet, VOIP phone service, voice controlled Alexa wireless speaker system, large screen TVs with DVD players, Netflix and more. The master suite pampers you with a king bed, private bath, walk-in closets and a huge picture window with forest view.

THE AREA:
The private gated community of Bear River Lodge surrounds this home with peace and security. Houses within the community are few and far between, so you'll have the private trout river and adjoining forest pretty much to yourself. While away the day in an Adirondack chair nestled between the mountains and the stream. The Lodge at Bear River, with massive stone fireplace, antique decor, spiral log staircase, can be rented for weddings and other events.

Lovers of the great outdoors will find plenty to enjoy within a short drive. The area is renowned for its fishing, boating, whitewater rafting and other water sports. The natural beauties of the Pisgah National Forest, Appalachian Trail and North Carolina Scenic Byway can be explored by foot, bicycle, car or horseback. For a relaxing interlude, soak in the natural mineral springs for which the quaint town of Hot Springs was named (just 5 miles from the house). And for a cosmopolitan change of pace, the city of Asheville is 45 minutes away.

The house is on the side of a mountain in a secluded neighborhood. You don't see your neighbor and it's a quiet area with a beautiful view. Our son and his friend from scouting days are hiking the Appalachian trail so this house was in a great area to meet up with them for a few days. They used the house as a base camp at night and hiked with a lighter pack during the day. They hiked about 50 miles of the trail during the time we were there and took one day off to rest and repack their food and gear for the next two weeks on the trail. The house is in a great location for taking hikers to various points on the the trail to drop off and pick up miles later. During the day, my husband was able to work on his laptop with no problem. Finding the Ingles grocery store was easy and is about 15 minutes away. The kitchen was well stocked with the cookware we needed to cook the healthy meals the hikers required since they have dietary restrictions. I especially appreciated the nice assortment of sharp knives. We made good use of the washer and dryer in the basement and liked having a garage where the guys could air out their tents and gear. I wish all the places we rented were this nice.

We spent 10 wonderful days in April at Angela's rental. The property was spotless and had everything we needed. We enjoyed eating on the deck and watching the mountains turn green. It is a very quiet development and we enjoyed the path along Big Laurel Creek for a short walk when we weren't out on a trail. It was very nice to have a garage available! For a wonderful meal, head to Stoney Knob in Weaverville but be sure to make reservations. We will definitely stay here again when in the area. Thank you for making your wonderful home available.

Vacation in your own mountain paradise! Our family of 6 stayed here for a week with ease! Close enough to essentials like grocery & food but far enough to see every star and hear the river running at night from the back deck! Well stocked kitchen, fluffy towels, cozy beds, and a beautiful fire.

The property was perfect for our family. The views and coziness of the home were just what we were needing. There was plenty of room for our 4 kids & very thankful for the playpen provided that our baby used. We were able to drive around an hour to Biltmore Estate & Sevier County, TN. Would hilghly recommend this property!

The house was gorgeous and so well kept/organized. I went with my husband and 8 year old son. We enjoyed spending quality time by the fireplace on rainy days. We played board games and watched movies by the fireplace. The kitchen had everything we needed to make food. Ingles, to me, is not too far away. Waking up and enjoying my coffee as I looked at the mountains was probably the highlight for me. This was the perfect spot to disconnect from work and focus on my family. I hope to be back soon.

Couldn't have been more satisfied. The location itself was absolutely stunning. It provided the perfect backdrop for a peaceful and rejuvenating getaway. The clean, crisp mountain air and the tranquility of the surroundings instantly made us feel at ease. The VRBO property itself was a true gem. It was impeccably maintained, and the attention to detail was evident in every corner. The interior was cozy and well-appointed, with all the amenities we needed to make our stay comfortable. We particularly loved the spacious deck, which offered panoramic views of the mountains and was the ideal spot to enjoy our morning coffee. The hosts were incredibly helpful, providing us with recommendations for local hikes, restaurants, and activities. This stay allowed us to reconnect with nature, relax, and enjoy quality time with loved ones. It's a slice of heaven for anyone seeking a peaceful, scenic, and rejuvenating escape. I can't wait to return to this mountain oasis and make more cherished memories.

Our family enjoyed both the location and the house itself. The home was clean and as described. The communication with the owners was quick when needed and they were friendly and helpful. The area is great too- we had a fun at the creek within the community and felt like the location was good for driving to places we wanted to visit as well. Overall, it was a great stay!

We had previously booked another listing, which was then canceled 3 days before our family vacation due to being double-booked. So, it was crunch time, and I stumbled upon this gem, which was luckily available. This all worked out so well because this house was perfect! It was super clean, getting into the house was hassle-free, and the mountain views were fabulous! The only downsides (which are not the homeowner's fault, they were mine due to the last-minute plans and no time to research) were that this is kind of far away from everything. All of our planned events were either in Pigeon Forge, TN (about an hour and a half away) or Asheville, NC (about 45 mins). Our boys are all into football, but we didn't let them throw the ball in the backyard because the drop from the edge is STEEP. With my luck, that ball (and possibly a child) would have been gone. If you're looking for something with a quiet setting that's away from everything, this is perfect. We would stay here again if my husband and I ever came down either by ourselves or with friends!
