THE HOUSE:
Set in 4 acres of unspoiled forests and looking out on all sides over the majestic Smoky Mountains, this hilltop home takes full advantage of its spectacular views. The spacious deck with gas grill and dining table is the perfect spot for relaxing while you breathe the fresh air, watch the sunset and greet the bears, bobcats, deer, raccoons, turkeys, hawks, eagles and owls that wander by. Despite its seclusion in a national park-like area, access is refreshingly easy via paved roads and a convenient highway exit.
Indoors, modern luxury reigns supreme. Three levels of living space are fully furnished with deluxe leather seating, gourmet kitchen appliances, charming tableware, upscale towels and linens, down-alternative comforters and elegant colorful quilts. State-of-the-art electronics include wireless internet, VOIP phone service, voice controlled Alexa wireless speaker system, large screen TVs with DVD players, Sling TV, Netflix and more. The master suite pampers you with a king bed, private bath, walk-in closets and a huge picture window with forest view. The 2 guest bedrooms offer 1 queen and 1 full bed.
THE AREA:
The private gated community of Bear River Lodge surrounds this home with peace and security. Houses within the community are few and far between, so you'll have the private trout river and adjoining forest pretty much to yourself. While away the day in an Adirondack chair nestled between the mountains and the stream. The Lodge at Bear River, with massive stone fireplace, antique decor, spiral log staircase, can be rented for weddings and other events.
Lovers of the great outdoors will find plenty to enjoy within a short drive. The area is renowned for its fishing, boating, whitewater rafting and other water sports. The natural beauties of the Pisgah National Forest, Appalachian Trail and North Carolina Scenic Byway can be explored by foot, bicycle, car or horseback. For a relaxing interlude, soak in the natural mineral springs for which the quaint town of Hot Springs was named (just 5 miles from the house). And for a cosmopolitan change of pace, the city of Asheville is 45 minutes away.

Vacation in your own mountain paradise! Our family of 6 stayed here for a week with ease! Close enough to essentials like grocery & food but far enough to see every star and hear the river running at night from the back deck! Well stocked kitchen, fluffy towels, cozy beds, and a beautiful fire.
The property was perfect for our family. The views and coziness of the home were just what we were needing. There was plenty of room for our 4 kids & very thankful for the playpen provided that our baby used. We were able to drive around an hour to Biltmore Estate & Sevier County, TN. Would hilghly recommend this property!
The house was gorgeous and so well kept/organized. I went with my husband and 8 year old son. We enjoyed spending quality time by the fireplace on rainy days. We played board games and watched movies by the fireplace. The kitchen had everything we needed to make food. Ingles, to me, is not too far away. Waking up and enjoying my coffee as I looked at the mountains was probably the highlight for me. This was the perfect spot to disconnect from work and focus on my family. I hope to be back soon.
Couldn't have been more satisfied. The location itself was absolutely stunning. It provided the perfect backdrop for a peaceful and rejuvenating getaway. The clean, crisp mountain air and the tranquility of the surroundings instantly made us feel at ease. The VRBO property itself was a true gem. It was impeccably maintained, and the attention to detail was evident in every corner. The interior was cozy and well-appointed, with all the amenities we needed to make our stay comfortable. We particularly loved the spacious deck, which offered panoramic views of the mountains and was the ideal spot to enjoy our morning coffee. The hosts were incredibly helpful, providing us with recommendations for local hikes, restaurants, and activities. This stay allowed us to reconnect with nature, relax, and enjoy quality time with loved ones. It's a slice of heaven for anyone seeking a peaceful, scenic, and rejuvenating escape. I can't wait to return to this mountain oasis and make more cherished memories.
Great house find for our family. House was clean and cozy. The beautiful mountain views were amazing from the house and deck. Absolutely would recommend to others
Our family enjoyed both the location and the house itself. The home was clean and as described. The communication with the owners was quick when needed and they were friendly and helpful. The area is great too- we had a fun at the creek within the community and felt like the location was good for driving to places we wanted to visit as well. Overall, it was a great stay!
We had previously booked another listing, which was then canceled 3 days before our family vacation due to being double-booked. So, it was crunch time, and I stumbled upon this gem, which was luckily available. This all worked out so well because this house was perfect! It was super clean, getting into the house was hassle-free, and the mountain views were fabulous! The only downsides (which are not the homeowner's fault, they were mine due to the last-minute plans and no time to research) were that this is kind of far away from everything. All of our planned events were either in Pigeon Forge, TN (about an hour and a half away) or Asheville, NC (about 45 mins). Our boys are all into football, but we didn't let them throw the ball in the backyard because the drop from the edge is STEEP. With my luck, that ball (and possibly a child) would have been gone. If you're looking for something with a quiet setting that's away from everything, this is perfect. We would stay here again if my husband and I ever came down either by ourselves or with friends!
Hard to imagine a better experience. Owners had prepared a beautiful house on a beautiful property in the most thoughtful way, with great information on local things to see and do. Very close to Hot Springs, hiking, etc. But the house is immaculate and delightful. Hard to beat. We felt fortunate to be able to be there.
Great location for slow paced and relaxing getaway. Five star for quiet and cleanliness.
Great get away place to relax and spend quality time with family. Hot Springs is near by with great restaurants.
We enjoyed waking up to the mountain views each morning and the wildlife that ventured into the yard! We found the location to be central enough to visit mulitple attractions while in NC. We walked the Laurel Creek trail twice and Lover's Leap once. Will return to the area again! The property is clean and had everything we needed to enjoy our stay.
We enjoyed our wonderful & relaxing 2 week get away in this beautiful home. We cooked all of our meals in the well stocked kitchen & enjoyed the amazing views from the back deck. This home is truly Spotless!! The WIFI worked really good & was fast. Our Verizon cell service worked fine on the property & on walks down at the creek. Angela was such a wonderful host. She responded quickly to any questions we had & she truly cares about her guests. Thank you for allowing us to enjoy your beautiful home. Mike & Glenda
Communication with Angela and Kyle was flawless. I appreciated the binder with detailed information and suggestions of activities and restaurants, in the area. Their home is spotlessly clean, comfortable, well equipped and spacious enough for 5 adults to spread out in. The view is gorgeous, we especially appreciated watching the sunset from the deck. The neighborhood is so pretty. We enjoyed the bubbling river and only wished we had more time to spend there. It is a perfect location to do many hikes. We particularly enjoyed Max Patch and Laurel River. The small town of Marshall is close by and there we enjoyed eating at Star One Diner and The Old Marshall Jail Hotel - truly a unique place. We had a wonderful stay and would come back again.
The property was as described...modern, clean, in a great location, and OH THOSE TOWELS!! Thanks Angela!
It was a nice quiet get away. Hot springs is more hippie than i remember i guess Ashville has migrated that way.
We are a family of 5 and stayed for a long weekend. We absolutely loved it! The home is cozy, comfortable and has everything you need away from home. The view was beautiful and the location was very easy to get to with lots of fun and trails nearby. We really enjoyed our stay and will come again :)
