A short 8 mile drive South is the Silver Lake Dunes where you can rent watercraft, ATV's and many other motorized toys. Take a trip on the Mac Woods Dune ride for a real thrill. There are many other activities in Silver Lake such as go carts, zip line, bumper cars, etc.br brRent is by the week, Saturday to Saturday. After a competitive game of cornhole, grab a drink and relax on the front porch or the observation deck overlooking the 200ft bluff. The swim spa is massive and has a wide view of the lake. It is kept at 102 degrees during the Fall/Winter/Spring and 80 degrees during the Summer. The spa is like a mini pool with only two seats but room for 12. br brIn the mood for food Let the grill master loose at the 4-burner Weber grill. Or head 15 minutes to downtown Ludington and grab a nice dinner at one of the local breweries or restaurants. While in town, take a stroll down Ludington State Park Beach, dip your toes into Lake Michigan, and search for some cool Petoskey stones.brbrAfter dinner, gather around the fire pit, roast marshmallows, and share stories while the sun goes down. If it's raining outside, gather around the indoor fireplace, log into your Netflix or Disney+ account, and watch a movie. Still have some energy left Grab a board game in the game zone and turn on some music!brbrThe early risers will love the coffee and tea bar. Grab a cup of joe and sit in one of the cozy blue chairs facing the lake. This is one of our favorite spots in the house! When everyone wakes up, make some pancakes in the fully equipped kitchen. The first has one full bed and two twins, the second has a king, the third is a full and two twins (trundle), the fourth has 6 twins (2 bunks) and the fifth has one queen. Everything is a short walk or bike ride and you won't need your car unless you are leaving town. Plenty of parking for cars, boats or others toys with two driveways. 1869 House - Central, Historic, and ADA Compliant

Our family has been in Pentwater for over 100 years, and we have renovated this historic home (built 1869) right in the heart of Pentwater with families and special needs in mind, and with an eye towards modern functionality and historical charm. As for location, it is a 1/2 block from downtown and an easy stroll to the beach (or take the back route up the dunes to Mt Baldy). Its deep setback and large rear deck ensure tranquility and privacy even though it is right in the heart of the village.brbrThere is ample off-street parking off the alleyway in addition to parking on the street. The front porch is the place to catch the morning sun with your coffee. The back deck has space for everyone for private evenings outdoors (including the grill). The back yard has the fire pit for s'mores at night as well as an extra patio. The side yard can be used for boccie ball. brbrAs for the interior, the house has SIX bedrooms (all conforming - no converted closets), so there is room for multiple generations - two down and four up. There is also a single size pull out sofa in the upstairs nook if there are more grand kids than you can count. There is a full bath on each level.brbrImportantly, we have renovated the house with grandparents and anyone with special needs in mind. The entire first floor is fully ADA compliant - meeting all commercial code requirements. A ramp leads from the handicap parking in the back to the deck. The transition from deck to house is almost seamless. There are no floor height differentials on the entire first floor (two bedrooms). The bedrooms have wide doors, and the master bedroom is en suite, . The bathroom has a 5'x5' fully tiled roll-in shower area. The kitchen has been designed with wheelchairs in mind: roll-under stove, roll-under sink, wall-mounted stove, wheel chair friendly seating, and ADA-compliant appliances throughout.brbrThe main floor layout is an open living plan, with the kitchen, dining, and living rooms flowing into each other and right out onto the rear deck through the French doors. The 65 TV provides plenty of viewing for everyone, and a second TV in the upstairs sitting room is perfect for sequestering the kids.brbrLINENS: We provide comforters, blankets, pillows, and towels. However, you provide your bed linens. We do provide a linen service for an extra $150 per household.

Walking distance from Bass Lake (an all sport lake) and less than a mile to three Lake Michigan public access parks or beaches make this the ideal location for a family get away. There are four upstairs bedrooms, one first floor bedroom and an open children’s bedroom in the basement level so it will sleep a total of 16 people. There is a full bathroom available on every floor of our home one which has a tub w/shower. brbrThe ten foot wide wrap around porch is an ideal place to sit on the swing or one of the many chairs to enjoy the morning coffee or to sit in the breeze and talk with family and friends. This is a very private setting and yet has all the amenities; cable TV, internet, landline phone service, pure reverse osmosis drinking water and full house water filtering system, microwave, new glass top stove, and washer and dryer. brThe kids will love the ‘kid zone’ living area .with their own TV and DVD. The whole family will enjoy evenings in the walkout screen porch on the lower level overlooking the fire pit area. The open concept living room, dining room and kitchen are ideal for entertaining. The classy antique décor of the timber house is delightful. Everything you need to enjoy your stay is available for you. A toaster, microwave, coffee maker, electronic tea pot, dishwasher, all dishes and pans, all linens and towels are available for your use. There is parking for two cars at the house and parking at the bottom of the hill for five more for your toys or cars, with total parking for 6-8 vehicles. brbrWhether it is walking the wooded trails behind the home, visiting the popular shopping and dining areas of Pentwater (five miles) and Ludington (10 miles), enjoying Silver Lake State Park (17 miles), or just relaxing on the porch on the wooded hilltop, everything for your family dream vacation is within reach.brbrThree must-dos before you leave: br-Visit the Bortel's Fishery (1 mile North on Lakeshore) where they fry their fresh fish and fries while you wait. The Pentwater dunes along Lake Michigan offer the most beautiful, pure hard-packed sandy beaches in the United States. White, silky sand welcomes you to 185 feet of private frontage with this cottage. Nightly, you will be lulled to sleep by the sound of the waves gently lapping against the shore. Start each morning with a stroll along private Lake Michigan frontage for 1.5 miles to the Pentwater Channel where you will see watercraft heading out for a morning sail or first catch of the day. brbrIf you enjoy biking, you can enjoy a quick, easy 3.5 mile bike ride into town for a good cup of coffee and a scone at the local bakery. Or, for a longer tour, start at the Hart Montague Trail Head in Hart, MI (8-10 miles from the cottage by car), and bike 52 miles round trip, through agricultural fields (mainly fruit trees and asparagus) and past our local Country Dairy where you can stop for lunch. Country Dairy offers grass-fed beef hamburgers, sandwiches, and unlimited cups of fresh-made white or chocolate milk! Plus, homemade ice cream for dessert. The Hart-Montague bike trail is the first rails-to-trails conversion in the state of Michigan. It's flat and often tree-covered. brbrRegarding our cottage, there is nothing between our cottage and Lake Michigan except 160 stairs, through the woods and down to the beach. Completely private and secluded. You will not be able to see or hear neighbors. Our view is unlike other cottages (which are located farther down the dune, and thus much closer to the water), as we have a 180 degree view. brbrWe offer 2 sea kayaks, a paddleboard and a very long canoe! They are stored at the beach. You can launch the kayaks either on Lake Michigan, paddle down to the channel, take out at the public dock in Pentwater to enjoy the city or visit the farmers' market at the village green. Another option is to take the canoe to the public launch at Pentwater Lake for a nice, leisurely paddle around Pentwater Lake. Lastly, you can transport the kayaks to either the Pentwater River launch or the Pere Marquette RIver Launch (you'll need to sign up for a permit for the day).brbrThere is no phone or internet at the cottage. However, your mobile should easily get service. Both AT&T as well as Verizon cell service works. This is a place where you escape from technology to enjoy nature. However, the Pentwater Library (in town, about 3 miles away) has computers for public use, as well as wireless internet that can be accessed even when the library is closed.brbrHaving enjoyed so many of our weekends at Lake Michigan, we spent 5 years trying to find the right place -- secluded, with acreage of wooded land.
