Here comes the sun, relax & unwind at this peaceful oasis. However, if you're looking for a little more excitement, there are plenty of local activities like: trail riding, state land for hunting, a couple of nearby golf courses (seasonal), many possible water activities since Long Lake is an all-sport lake (so bring your water toys), & fishing. There's a public boat launch across the lake from our private dock, and we also provide a propane grill for our renters.brbrThe Space:brThis cozy two bedroom, one bath cottage has a large deck with patio furniture (which gets put away in the shed for winter) and an outside grill, along with two fire rings on the property. Along the water, this property also has it's own private gazebo, dock, and beach area. We're brand new to this and still under improvement, but please don't let that stop you from enjoying our happy place. I try to make it as family friendly as possible, so if you have any special requests that maybe I can help with to make your stay more enjoyable or less stressful, please don't hesitate to ask. If you are celebrating a special day (i.e., birthday, anniversary, engagement, or holiday), with enough advance notice and for a fee and costs of supplies, I may be able to decorate the cottage (balloons/decorations, flowers, candy, etc.) prior to your arrival. I'm not a miracle worker, but I'll do my best to help in any way that I can.brbrGuest Access:brGuests will have access to the entire cottage and waterfront property. However, guests will not have access to a guest house on the property that still needs to be remodeled, which we currently use for our personal storage. There is a garden shed (containing mainly lawn equipment and tools) on the property that guests will have access to as well due to some water toys being stored in there.brbrThere is free guest parking on the property for 2-3 spaces (depending on size of vehicles) and how they are parked. Parking is located at the bottom of the hill directly in front of our private gazebo and beach area (and is marked with signs).brbrThere is a one lane dirt road that separates the parking and private beach area from the house on the hill. Our beach area is across this road at the bottom of the hill and to the right side of the property.brbrCurrently, we may still have some orange flagged property markers located around our property and parking is marked with red and white posted signs.brbrHarrison attracts thousands of visitors each year to Wilson State Park, the Clare County Fairgrounds, the Harrison City Market, Veterans Freedom Park, lakes, and recreational land.brbrOur lake house is about 10-15 minutes from town (Harrison, MI) and approximately 20 minutes from Houghton Lake (Houghton, MI), where your nearest Walmart is located. Harrison is a quaint small town with a few cute little shops and restaurants. We like to have breakfast from time to time at Jackie's Airport Restaurant and get ice cream at Walraven's Country Market during season.brbrThere are also a little over 20 steps up to the house from the road and unfortunately the house is not handicap accessible. We are very sorry about that.brbrInside the house there is one step when you transition from the front door entrance way into the living room or kitchen area, there are two smaller steps leading from the back door up to the kitchen area, these are the same two steps leading down to the bathroom from the kitchen area.brbrOther Things to Note:brIf you were wanting a longer stay than the availability listed on the calendar shows, I might be able to accommodate your request due to some days being blocked off for cleaning and personal use. Please just message me and I'll see what I can do to help with your request.brbrAlso, the water at the cottage is well water. We have not had the quality of the water tested as of yet, but we do supply guests with a water cooler and a 5 gallon jug of drinking water free of charge. I have cooked with the tap water and have had no issues personally, but that is up to each individual.brbrThere is not a washer/dryer in this house as of yet, but there is a local laundromat in town (i.e., Kleen Gene's Laundromat - open 7 days a week). Please note that this is not a recommendation for this business establishment, but I have personally used this laundromat and was very pleased with it.brbrThere's a public boat launch across the lake from our dock and places in town to obtain your licenses and bait.brbrWe also have outdoor security cameras and motion lights mounted along the house for safety and to increase visibility for our guests.brbrWe do ask that before your departure, please follow all checkout instructions that are listed on the front of the blue reference binder left for you on the kitchen island. We have well water. We use a water softener. The fridge water is filtered and there is hard well water available via the small tap at the kitchen sink. 2. We have a dirt/gravel driveway, which can be muddy after rain or during the spring thaw. 3. We have snow plow services and our cleaner helps shovel, but if it snows during your stay, you may need to shovel your car out and a path. We do provide a shovel and salt. Our home offers a peaceful, rural farm stay experience designed for relaxation and connection with nature. You may see wildlife such as deer and hear the natural sounds of the countryside during your stay. We provide Starlink WiFi, which is typically strong enough for streaming and video calls; however, speeds can vary due to location and weather. The home is situated in a quite neighborhood with paved roads right to your door for the ones that don't like mud on their tires and the ones that do your in luck we have dirt road 3/4 mile away that can take you to the Leota Trail The driveway is long enough to hold a truck trailer and a couple of cars with additional lawn parking. Once you have entered this freshly renovated property with all new furnishing (2023) the Living Room has space to sit and relax and if desired watch some Movies on the flat screen smart Tv.br There is Internet and cable Television brLet me mention that there is heat and central air at this property (look for the smart touch screen thermostat on the wall in the hallway) Adjust to your preference. The full kitchen boasts granite surface counter gas range microwave 4 slice toaster air fryer crockpot Coffee pot with supplied coffee French door fridge to make unpacking easy and for those after meal quick clean ups there is a double dishwasher pots pans in one everything else in the other (dish soaps are supplied). brThe Bathroom has double sinks allowing more than one to get ready at the same time. The cabin sits in on a hill with multiple steps up/down to the cabin. Cross the lower access road to get to your private water frontage that includes a beach area and dock for your boat/jet skis, 2 kayaks, paddle boat that seats 4, 4 adult life jackets , 2 child life jackets, 2 suntanning lounge chairs, 2 reclining beach chairs, 4 Adirondack chairs, noodles and several inflatable floats available for your enjoyment. Parking space is limited to 2 vehicles and 1 boat/atv trailer. We have a cottage next door and both properties share the lower part of the steps down to the lower road. It is also very peaceful watching the leaves change colors in the fall and a fun time in the winter with great ice fishing on Long Lake, and cross-country skiing, and downhill skiing close by. brbrLong Lake is an all sports lake with a no wake rule between 7:30pm-11:00am. Have fun on the water from 11:00am-7:30pm water skiing, tubing, jet skiing or just tooling around the lake. Enjoy kayaking and paddle boating anytime of day where you might see an Eagle land in a tree or a loon dive for its food. brbrWe are very conveniently located only 3.5 miles off US-127, just north of Harrison Mi. We are close to ORV trails, party stores (5 minutes), grocery stores (10-15 minutes), restaurants (5-15 minutes), golf course (5 minutes), Casino (35 minutes), Traverse City (1.5 hrs.), Mackinaw City, Manistee & Petoskey (1 hr. 45 minutes), Sleeping Bear Dunes & Ludington (2 hrs.), Silver Lake Sand Dunes (2 hrs. 15 minutes).brbrThere are other cottages near by and a small residential neighborhood in the area.
