Rentals are available for skis, snowshoes and ice skates. A short drive to Michigan's Adventure amusement/water park & downtown events makes this the perfect vacation spot! After an adventurous day relax around the firepit, wraparound porch or walk to the tavern & watch the sunset. There is a public Lake Michigan access less than 1/3 mile north across from the Red Rooster Tavern. It’s a 10 minute walk. The picture shown is the steps leading down to the beach. It’s very private. brbrAt Making Waves Cottage, outdoor adventure awaits while a comfortable, peaceful interior lures you “home.” Choose your morning coffee from the extensive coffee bar and enjoy a continental breakfast on the oversized porch furniture while watching the sunrise, conversing with friends, and watching the wildlife. In the evening, have dinner on the peaceful and secluded wrap around porch as a distant sunset projects’ vivid color on the night sky. You may have to share with the fireflies and deer. brbrGetting to the house: As you drive toward the house with Lake Michigan to your west, you’ll notice a mature tree lined road with abundant wildlife and private settings. Approaching the property, you’ll find a secluded location and a natural circle driveway leading up to the house. Enough parking for 6-8 vehicles & your fishing boat! You’ll see yard furniture, a grill, and outdoor games. The yard has been sprayed with safe tick & bug repellent. You’ll enter the front of the house on a wood deck, use the smart lock device to lock and unlock the front door. There is a video Ring doorbell. Upon entering, you’ll find an entryway equipped with coat hooks, a built-in bench, and shoe storage. A coffee bar with a large variety of coffees, creamers, sugar, & machines are available to make your perfect cup of coffee. We have a regular drip coffee machine, Ninja Specialty Brewer, Nespresso machine, cappuccino machine, and a Keurig. There is also a coffee bean grinder available. The breakfast amenity is continental in nature and a random offering of granola bars, bagels, fruit bars, eggs, instant oatmeal, and other items.brbrThe living room is the center of the house and flows to the main bedroom, bathroom, upper level, and the kitchen. An open concept floor plan connects the sitting or game room and living room where you’ll be able to relax and watch television on the comfy couch and chairs, play games, or use the area for a dedicated workstation. A ceiling fan, plenty of natural sunlight, and a 70” television make this a great space for any activity. Special touches include a stenciled compass game/workstation table and a large, vintage metal Fish Market sign, local to this area. Central air conditioning is included.brbrThe totally renovated bathroom is equipped with a double vanity so multiple people can use this functional space simultaneously. Bedroom 2 includes 2 queen sized beds, black out cellular shades, and amber night lights completing the bedroom for restful sleep. Bedroom 3 includes 2 queen size beds, black out cellular shades, and amber night lights. The bedrooms are separated by a wide hallway area which has closets with hangers and shelves to keep your belongings organized. This hallway area is large enough for kids to sit on the floor and play or grab a beanbag and relax. A box fan, 2 small electric heaters, and extras are kept in the closet. Plenty of space for your belongings.brbrThe fully equipped galley kitchen has a dishwasher, electric stove/oven, microwave, and side by side refrigerator. The kitchen has everything needed to prepare and cook all your meals including a toaster, rice cooker, large electric roaster pan, Ninja coffee and ice coffee maker, cappuccino machine, Keurig, Nespresso machine, 2 crock pots, pizza oven and more. The laundry area is curtained off and includes a washer and 2 dryers. brbrThe outdoor area and yard feature a fire pit with plenty of seating and firewood on a natural 1.5 acre lot with moss, trees, and shrubbery. There is plenty of room for outdoor yard games. There is a beach cruiser bicycle and a men's mountain bike available for use. There is a wrought iron patio table & chairs, a chaise, and an outdoor bar with 4 barstools. Enough seating for 15-20 people. Perfect for outdoor meals, games, and hanging out around the fire pit. The house sits off Scenic Drive which is a popular summertime road for motorcycles, bicycles, runners/walkers, and Sunday drives. We always slept better on those nights. I named the house Bailey's Beach Retreat, because for me, this solitary house in the dunes surrounded by towering beech trees is a special place to enjoy the peace and serenity of nature. We've provided lots of games, puzzles, movies and books because for us, the best part of a vacation is laughing and playing with the family, but also having quiet time to read a good book. Our grown-up kids still love Putter's Creek on the Causeway in North Muskegon for go-carting and miniature golf and of course, Michigan's Adventure. We never visit Muskegon without going to G & L for a Greek cheddar chili dog special – order it with everything. Try Ryke's bakery on Terrace St for good old-fashioned baked goods or The Village Bakery in Spring Lake or their other location – The Baker's Wife – on Washington in Grand Haven for delicious muffins, breads and other treats. Our favorite galleries are the Uptown and C2C in Grand Haven, and Art Cats in Muskegon. Also, don't miss the Muskegon Farmers Market. They're open several days a week, but Saturday is best. There's a baker there who makes a killer cherry strudel and look for the Cheese Lady (who also has a storefront downtown). Of course you'll also find plenty of fruit and vegetables if you're into that kind of thing. We treasure every day we're able to spend at our Michigan home and we hope you will too.brbrMuskegon is located on the shores of Lake Michigan. We are also home to many state parks, including P.J. Hoffmaster State Park, where you can find 10 miles of hiking trails and a beautiful beach. Take a trip to downtown Muskegon where you will find a variety of breweries and restaurants to enjoy. Muskegon is also the home to The Lakes Mall, which is surrounded by shopping, food and fun! Plan on spending a day with your family at Michigan's Adventure for a day of action and excitement. If you desire a day relaxing in the sun, head to the Muskegon River or the White River where River Rat Rentals and Happy Mohawk Canoe will rent tubes and canoes for your family to calmly float down the river. This property is located in the city of Norton Shores. Lake Michigan is just a short walk from the house. A few miles down the road is Lake Harbor Park, featuring trails, dunes, the big lake, and a channel to Mona Lake, a smaller lake that has a beach of its own. For a day of fun, head to Craig's Cruisers for mini golf, go-karts, arcades, and so much more! The warm bamboo and grass-cloth walls tuck you in with their warmth. There are many Tiki and Polynesian touches, including Tiki masks, palm leaf accents, and bamboo features. The kitchenette Tiki bar shows off a beautiful glass vessel sink featuring koi fish etched into the bowl. brbrThe Tiki Hut includes another Tiny Digs specialty, a fine custom-made bathroom door with a large palm frond and bamboo accents made by our team. This sliding door is a work of art. Retire to the loft behind the bamboo partition wall. The loft features some fun surprises like our custom-made floating palm leaf nightstands and sweet bamboo house reading sconces on both sides of the bed. Don’t miss the cedar shake fish scale detailing on the exterior which adds a touch of elegance and craftsmanship to this historic style home. Note all the details of this home that will transport you back to earlier times. brbrInside, you will find a comfortable living area with a vaulted ceiling that recalls the European Dutch Heritage style of the late 1800s. The flooring resembles thin plank oak, a common material used in those bygone days. Let your eyes rest upon the upcycled brass and crystal chandelier, which was rescued from a local heritage home, as it casts a warm glow over the room, creating a cozy atmosphere for relaxing or socializing. Everything from the custom-made galvanized metal barn door leading to the bathroom to the old farm tools used for handles. So many of these custom-made features were rescued from an old local farm and repurposed for this house. brbrOverhead in the main living area is a custom chandelier made with old glass implements and bottles from the hundred-year-old barn. Many of the farm tools were repurposed into railings and lights. The buffalo plaid black and white curtains add a little whimsy which draws you back to a simpler time in life.
