The public beaches are open during the day for your enjoyment and provide a wonderful setting for your family to enjoy the beautiful water of Torch Lake. The public beaches (lake accesses) DO NOT allow overnight mooring of your boat or water craft and are closed at night. brbrAlden Sunset Cabin is a short 1/4 mile walk as well from downtown Alden – a charming small town with a spirit you have to experience to believe. Alden is known for its flower-lined streets where everyone you meet offers a friendly greeting. Alden has several places to eat and Lakeview Ice Cream Shop has the best, biggest, ice cream cones you could ever eat. The town has cute boutique stores, a deli, family bar, tennis and basketball courts, and a park with a playground. Just at the end of the street is the public boat launch, library and community center. The popular Dockside restaurant is just 10 minutes away by boat or car. We provide a queen sized, pillow top bed along with a pull out couch that converts to a queen size bed. The patio provides a Weber Grill along with an outside table and seating for four. We also provide several comfortable chairs for your relaxation. Welcome to one of the first cottages to have built on Torch Lake. This is a quintessential up north Cottage, large main living room with the master bedroom and second bedroom with a queen bed on the Lake side of the house. The third bedroom is a smaller room with bunk beds and the 4th bedroom is a smaller room with a single twin bed in it. brbrThis is one of the few locations on all of Torch Lake that has a beautiful sandy beach with a very gradual slope into the water. At the end of the dock the water is only 2.5 - 3 feet deep. There will be a mooring ball in front of the cottage that you can keep a boat on. There is a shared laundry room with our other house next door that could be used in emergency but is technically not part of this cottage. brbrCottage come with Linens/towels and an almost full kitchen. The reason I saw almost is there is no disposal and the dishwasher is a small countertop dishwasher that can handle about half of a normal load.brbrWe do allow dogs here and the back yard is fully fenced in, however the fenced in area goes around both of our cottages making it somewhat of a shared space. brbrFor those looking to stay in the shoulder seasons the cottage there is base board heat for the the main living room and two bedrooms with queen beds, the other bedrooms have small portable electric heaters. There is no central AC, but there is the possibility for a small window A/C unit but I would only consider putting it in for a medical need. The hoist at the end of the dock is not part of the rental and is used to store my boat, and I will occasionally be using the dock to access the boat.brbrbrVERY IMPORTANT - DUE TO SEVERAL RENTERS IN THE PAST NOT RESPECTING OUR NO SMOKING POLICY - WE NOW HAVE A ZERO TOLERANCE FOR SMOKING OF ANY KNID ANYWHERE ON THE PROPERTY - INCLUDING ON THE BEACH, SO IF YOU SMOKE PLEASE EITHER RESPECT THE NO SMOKING OR PLEASE RENT ANOTHER COTTAGE.

Welcome to my Grandfather's Cottage on Torch Lake, one of the very few cottages with a beautiful sandy beach and within walking distance to Downtown Alden. First off to address some of the reviews for last year. Full disclosure, I fell short on some of the minor maintenance that needed to happen while guests where staying with me. This past fall I spent and extensive about of time fixing everything that needed to be taken care of and will be spending this spring making additional improvements. For this coming summer we also are bringing on a new cleaning crew as the ones we had last year fell well short of expectations.brbrIn regards to the review claiming Bed Bugs and Child Safety issues, Both of these are flat out incorrect. Swimming in Torch lake there is the possibility of getting swimmers ich, like most any inland lake, which can lead to minor irritation. Which is why it was only her grandkids that and any issues since they were the only one swimming.brbrI have welcomed people into my Grandfather’s Cottage coming to visit Up North for many years and I love being able to share this amazing and special place I hope that you will come stay with me and enjoy the place like so many people in the past. The sandy beach slopes into the clear water gently, making this a great walk-in swim site for all ages. There is also a permanent anchor off the end of the dock for those who bring there boat. It comes with a fully equipped kitchen with a small island and an attached breakfast area as you walk in from the street. Through the kitchen opens in to a spacious living room with large picture windows facing the lake. With a TV and fireplace on one end of the room and a dining area on the other. brbrThe living room opens out through French doors onto the screened in porch which provides an exceptional sunset view. There are two bedrooms one with a queen size bed and the other with two twin beds located on one side of the house sharing a full bath.
