We are directly across the street from the Purgatory Lodge reception and perched right on the cliff overlooking the Twilight Mountains. Did we mention the waterfall right next to the building You also have your own free private parking right next to the condo.brbrCome inside and you will find two stories with the living area upstairs and bedrooms downstairs. The living area is open and centers around the wood-burning fireplace and the brand-new deck with unobstructed views of Twilight Peak, the Needles Mountains, and the Weminuche Wilderness. The well-appointed kitchen lets the cook work their magic while still being part of the action, or you can grill on the deck. There is plenty of seating and a king-size Murphy bed (with a true king mattress) that can be folded down at the end of the evening for those extra guests to get a good night's sleep - life is too short to sleep on a pull-out couch! There is also a full bath with a tub and glass panel shower.brbrDownstairs you have 2 bedrooms, each with its own access to the full bathroom. The master bedroom has a king-size bed, large flat-screen TV, and plenty of windows as well as your own door to an outside ground-level patio. The 2nd bedroom has a Full/Twin bunk bed that is ideal for kids. We caution that the top bunk should not sleep anyone over 150 pounds.brbrThere is also a full washer/dryer, ski locker, boot warming area, and much more. The bathrooms were completely replaced in 2021, new bunks and master bed in 2021, new Murphy bed in 2021, new paint and decks in 2021, and new carpet and tile throughout in 2022.brbrAs a guest in our home, you get access to the resort's heated pool, hot tub, and fitness center all located right across the street at Purgatory Lodge. Towels, change rooms and showers are provided at the Lodge. Please do not take the towels from our home across to the pool/hot tub.brbrThe condo is surrounded by the San Juan National Forest and in the summer there is plenty of great hiking, fishing, horseback riding, mountain biking, and more that you can walk to or within a 15-minute drive. There is a small lake across the road that you can paddle-board on. There are a limited number of restaurants and bars but they all have a lot of character - try the pizza at Schoolhouse or sliders and live music on the deck at the Nugget.brbrSilverton is a true 'old west' town and the northern terminus of the DSNGRR narrow gauge steam train and you can be there in 30 minutes. Or drive 30 minutes south to Durango where there is an amazing variety of shops, restaurants, grocery stores, outfitters and more, as well as the amazing events that happen all year long.brbrIf you made it this far in your reading, you will be happy to know that this place is owned and managed by a local family. There are three bedrooms and one bath. Kitchen and bath are updated and kitchen is well-equipped with stainless steel pots and pans, nice dishware, and organic staples. The queen bedroom is on one side of the living room and kitchen, and the double and single rooms are on the other side. The twin room contains a desk should guests want a dedicated workspace. The Highland Sage offers plenty of storage in closets, kitchen cabinetry, and a large mudroom which is great for gear storage. The beds are are solid, plush and comfortable. A good night's sleep is key! Evaporative cooling in the Summer also provides for restful nights.brbrIn addition to Main Avenue and downtown, walk several blocks to the Nature Trail and Sky Steps. The neighborhood is pedestrian and dog-friendly and the block on which the Highland Sage resides is especially quiet and peaceful. brbrGuests are welcome to bring two pups, provided they don't get on furniture and aren't big barkers. No cats (sorry). Note that after booking, you will receive a brief rental agreement to review and sign with basic items such as no parties or events and pet authorization if applicable. brbrThe Highland Sage has dedicated use of the fenced backyard while the other half of the duplex has dedicated use of the front deck, allowing for privacy and each for each of the homes. brbrThe Highland Sage has a large entry room for gear storage and extensive kitchen cabinetry. Everything in Casa Luna is private: parking, fenced yard, patio, BBQ, etc. There are 3 bedrooms; 2 with king beds, and 1 with a queen. There is additional beds in the family room: 2 single pull out & 1 full pull out. So the total sleeping beds will fit a maximum of 6 adults and 4 children, or 8 adults. Beautiful House!brbrThe whole downstairs house, and large yard to the north. It is all private and not shared. Upstairs is the Owls Nest Studio which is also listed on AirbnbbrbrThe farm is extensive and there are many places to explore.brbrWe live on the neighboring property and we are available most all the time if our guests should need anything!brbrThere are lots of places to hike and walk nearby. Pastorious Lake is very close and fun to swim, wade, fish and explore. The country roads are beautiful and make great long walks.brbrOur closest grocery (besides wall mart) is Nature’s Oasis, about 10 minutes drive. It is right on the river trail so you can shop and then explore the river! brbrAbout 15 minutes away is downtown Durango with all the restaurants & shops. Enjoy spacious decks (with a seasonal waterfall) and gorgeous mountain sunsets while listening to the sounds of nature after a day of adventure. This cabin blends the spirit of mountain modern with its log architecture and gorgeous updates. The fully stocked kitchen, well furnished living space and heated flooring will make your days comfortable. A wood stove in the living room (wood provided) along with Nest thermostats with controlled heating is sure to take the chill off a cool night. Sleeping accommodations include a king size bed in the lofted master suite, while downstairs you'll find two more bedrooms with a queen sized bed and another with a log bunk bed that provides a spacious queen bottom with a full size top bed.
