Staying at The Roberta Barr is a one of a kind Colorado experience. Inside & out it is rustic perfection.

We have rented this cabin & property since 2017 & have 10 star reviews from every guest. We rent on a very limited basis.

The property is named for the woman who lived here for 75 years & who was an important figure in the Durango community. The Roberta Barr has beenrenown throughout the Animas River Valley for many years.

The Roberta Barr includes a beautifully restored historic 1930s log cabin with king bed, glamping Honey House barn with hanging king bed & two twin loft beds & comfy Sioux tepee with queen bed. The cabin is furnished with the utmost regard to quality, taste & detail.

The 8 acre park like setting includes beautiful manicured & natural areas. The property is bordered by 1/3 mile of the Hermosa Creek & boasts a good sized trout pond. The property also has a large clear water natural swimming hole. There are over 120 fruit trees throughout the property including cherry, apple, pear, peach, plum, apricot & a large raspberry patch.

Owners Alice & Eric Foultz are long-time 2nd homeowners in Durango. During bicycle rides they would visit with Roberta, who in her late 90's would sit on her front porch & say hello to those walking or biking past her amazing historic rose & perennial flower gardens. Sensing how special this property was naturally & emotionally to those in the community, Alice & Eric purchased the property in 2014 making a commitment to restore it to Roberta's former glory & beyond.

The Cabin was not just remodeled but it has been taken to the highest end of luxury & comfort. The historic structure remains intact, but the the interior has been remodeled & decorated by highly acclaimed architect & interior designer.

Roberta's rose & perennial flower gardens have been considered the finest in the Animas Valley & we work hard to maintain & exceed her standard.

The Roberta Barr is ideally located 10 miles north of Durango's Historic District & 15 miles south of the Purgatory Ski area.

The village of Hermosa is walking distance & includes a restaurant, convenience store & liquor store.

Just 2 miles from the property is PJ's Gourmet Market, Dalton Ranch Golf Club & Durango Hot Springs & Spa. James Ranch Grill & Farm to Table Market is only 1 mile away.

Online pictures don’t do justice to this immaculately developed and maintained property! Perfect location in the quiet and scenic neighborhood of Hermosa, close to downtown Durango, Purgatory and the greater Animas valley. Great fishing on site in the stocked pond and adjacent Hermosa creek. The cabin and barn have been beautifully curated and stocked with everything you could possibly need. We were blown away with our stay at the Roberta Barr. The owners were extremely hospitable, friendly and communicative with all instructions needed to fully enjoy the property.

Amazing property with running streams and waterfalls, orchards, Kentucky Bluegrass lawns, wildlife, flower gardens and forests. The cabin is lovely for two people. The Honey House was charming. The owners Wemdy above and beyond at every turn. Peaceful, beautiful sanctuary. We hardly ever left the property. Highly recommend. One of a kind!

The pictures look great but I can't begin to tell you how blown away we were by this property when we arrived and saw it in person. The grounds are like you have been dropped into a fairy tail, multiple brooks/streams, beautiful green grass with wildflower areas, trout pond stocked with large trout that have rarely been fished, easy access to the Hermosa Creek and a beautiful natural looking but man made swimming hole. Our kids thought they had died and gone to heaven. Overall could not have asked for a better getaway for our family. Eric and Alice were also available daily if we needed anything and were great with info about places to eat or things to do in the area, could not have been better host.

To say that the Roberta Barr and Honey House property are magical is an understatement. This property is beautiful and has so much to offer. My husband, son, dog and I got to spend a week and cannot wait to go back. We fished and played in the river that ran at the edge of the property. We swam in the swim hole. We fished in the trout pond. We picked fruit in the orchard. This just mentions everything outside but the actual structures on the property are so wonderful. Comfortable, clean, and unique. I would be remise to not mention Eric and Alice, the property owners. They are so pleasant and made sure that we had everything we needed. I would highly suggest this property and area of Colorado. It was a vacation that we will never forget and a property that we cannot wait to visit again!

This property is even more spectacular than the site advertises and our family had a wonderful vacation, admiring the orchards, foliage, streams/river and mountains. Eric and Alice were fantastic hosts and we hope to return to this beautiful and very clean property soon. Thanks to you both for a memorable stay. Karen

Our family of five including three boys ages 14, 12 and 8 loved every second of this vacation. The property was amazing. Pictures didn't do it justice. The owners were very accommodating and made us feel at home from the minute we arrived. Hope we can make it back there again!

We stayed here with our 4 kids (8 and younger). It’s such a special place with great accommodations. The property is amazingly well kept by Eric and his wife. They were great hosts and helped us with anything we needed! We caught fish, swam in their pond and picked fresh fruit which we all loved! We hated to leave and can’t wait to come back!

This property was absolutely incredible. The owners were so kind, hospitable, and thoughtful. We were so comfortable that we abandoned some plans that we had made just so we could spend more time at this special place. The grounds are amazingly kept and so inviting. I hope that we get to stay here again someday.

We spent a week at this beautiful property! We walked into the most comforting cabin with the sweetest welcome basket from Eric and Alice. I can't say enough about the special touches all over the property. Perfectly placed chairs by the stream with a fire pit, walking trails, orchards where you could pick fresh fruit, and I could go on and on. It was so relaxing that we had a tough time leaving! Thank you for sharing such a beautiful, unique place. We hope to return again next year.
