Follow a short private path a few feet from the lower deck down to the river and to the right to swim, play or launch one of the house kayaks. There are three sundecks on which to relax and read a good book, listen to the birds, watch the wildlife on the lazy river or enjoy the hot tub with spectacular views. Wildwood Garden has something for everyone. brbrWildwood Gardens is delightful and relaxing every season of the year. br brIn summer, enjoy Monte Rio’s 4th of July fireworks from the hot tub, or from the spacious lawn. Build a campfire in the fire pit on the lawn and enjoy the long summer nights. Wildwood Garden is secluded from other houses in the area so you can enjoy your own private oasis. brbrFall still has warm days and nights and most of the tourists have gone home, but they miss one of the best times to enjoy the sunsets on the river that attract thousands of small jumping fish. Watch the birds as they migrate south.brbrWinter is perfect time for a cozy and romantic weekend to enjoy the fireplace, a good book and a glass of wine while watching the wildlife and river float by. Take a long soak in the Jacuzzi tub and feel like all of your worries have washed away with the river.brbrIn spring, greenery abounds.brbrThis water front house has a short private path to the Russian river, just a few feet from the lower deck. Depending on river conditions, in the summer there is a small beach to the right at the bottom of the path. Guests may use any of the boats and life safety vests that Wildwood Garden provides. [Boat use is prohibited in the high water winter months, usually between November and April.]. Because the river is constantly changing our bank, we do not guarantee easy beach access. brbrThe house is rustic cabin but well appointed. Both bedrooms have queen size pillow top beds. The main bedroom opens to the deck area with a hot tub and river views. There is a small loft overlooking the living room for the kids. While our permit allows for six overnight guests, the house comfortably accomodates four people.brbrThe living room/dining room has vaulted wood ceilings and accent lighting. There is a flat panel TV above the fireplace, with streaming services, and a large sectional sofa. WiFi is available throughout the house. From the living room and bathroom you can access the river view redwood deck that spans the riverfront side of the house and a large picnic table and comfortable chairs expand your living space to the outside. The hot tub and BBQ are also on the riverside of the deck.brbrThe kitchen has everything you will need to feel at home. The bathroom has a Jacuzzi tub, separate shower and plenty of fresh towels. The house is equipped with an on-demand water heater so the last person in doesn’t have to worry about getting a cold shower and all of the rooms have recently upgraded heaters. For those staying extra days, a washer dryer is available. br brYou can spend a leisurely afternoon wine tasting at nearby Martinelli and Korbel wineries or dozens of other smaller wine boutiques. Enjoy a 9-hole game of golf at the nearby Northwood public golf course or bring your bikes to explore the breathtaking road to the river’s end at the Pacific Ocean in Jenner. Cyclists from all over the world now explore the Russian River backroads. Antique shops, restaurants and art galleries await in nearby Duncan Mills, Guernevile, Healdsburg and Sonoma. The north and west walls are almost entirely glass, which creates a light and open atmosphere, giving you a sense of freedom and flight as you gaze at the the osprey, gull, and heron. Through every moment of your day you’re surrounded by this expansive view of the river and mountains that few other places have. And, when looking is not enough, step down the stairs to the riverbank to use the 5 single KAYAKS, or row boat (in season) to enjoy the wild, scenic lower river from Duncans Mills to the ocean. brbrThe home is located about a 3/4 mile from Duncans Mills, a quaint little town with coffee shops, restaurants, and shopping for art and collectables. Gold Coast the coffeeshop with daily fresh baked pastries, as well as Cape Fear and The Blue Heron restaurants offer full dining. The ocean, and all the great Sonoma Coast Beaches are about seven miles west. On hot summer days, when the rest of California is 100 degrees or more, the soothing ocean breeze cools our place into the 70-80's.brbrOur Home:brbrThe two-story home is nested on the side of a hill overlooking the river. The top floor is 950 sq. ft. with 2 bedrooms, 1 bathroom, living room and kitchen. One bedroom has a queen bed and a beautiful view of the river and mountain, and has its own 8X16 foot deck. The view is like being on the bow of a ship at sea. The second bedroom has a bunk bed for the kids and also has double doors leading to its sunny morning deck. The bathroom has a Kohler corner shower with curved glass enclosure and a sink from France. The living/dining room is open an airy with large picture windows and doors to the deck. The remodeled kitchen has stainless steel and black granite countertops with new appliances. The 1st floor studio offers 650 sq. ft. with a bedroom, bathroom, and combined living, dining, and kitchen area. There is a comfy queen bed in the spacious bedroom that also has a 8X16 foot deck with bistro table and chairs outside the French doors. The beautifully tiled bathroom has a separate tub and shower. The kitchen has is equipped with the basic utensils and dishes for preparing your meals. brbrTogether, both floors offer 1600 sq. ft. of living space with 3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, and two kitchens! The house will sleep 6. The lower flat is private. The floors are accessible by two sets of stairs on the outside of the house. There is no stairs inside the building from floor to floor. There are numerous decks and two terraces with patio seating. This makes a perfect setup for vacationing with Mom and Dad, extended families, or friends.brEncircling the home on two levels is 700 sq. ft. of barefoot-friendly Trex decking with bistro table and chairs. Another terrace has a Weber 3 burner gas grill and more patio seating, and a fire kettle. Kayaks are available in summer and most likely in spring and fall, but not during winter due to high water and fast currents.
