Retreat to the king bed in the master bedroom with blackout curtains and 3 piece ensuite for an uninterrupted sleep. The main bathroom has a Mexican hand painted sink set in to a live edge fir countertop. The second bedroom has a cosy queen bed. You will find a variety of books: gardening, art, adventure, travel, and cookbooks in the private office. It is preset to 22 degrees between 6:30 a.m. and 11 p.m.. Then the heat lowers to 18 degrees overnight. The white remote for the heat pump is on the table behind the sectional. You can turn it off, increase or decrease the heat...and then it will always return to its regular preset temperatures on its own.brThe unit in the office is preset to 22 degrees, and will need to just be turned on and off.brbrThe gas fireplace is controlled by the black remote - on the shelf beside the fireplace. Press the red button at the same time as the upper right side button to turn on. It takes a minute to fire up. Press the red button to turn off.brbrToilet: We are on a septic system, so please do not put anything other than toilet paper in the toilet. Anything else will back up the the system, and cause it to malfunction.brbrGarbage: The garbage bin is under the left side of the kitchen sink. No food items are allowed in the garbage. When the bag is full, please take it out to the grey garbage bucket at the back right corner of the carport. Fresh bags are under the sink - behind the garbage bin.brCompost: Any food scraps can be put in the compost bin - under the right side of the kitchen sink. If the compost bin gets filled up, please tie the bag up and take to the green compost bucket at the back right corner of the carport. Fresh compostable bags are under the sink beside the garbage bin.brbrWater: The water is safe to drink out of the tap, though there are filtered water faucets in the kitchen and master bath (to filter out the taste of chlorine)brbrPower: The main electrical panel is in the master bedroom beside the front window.brbrLaundry: Washer and dryer are pretty straightforward to use. You will find soap on the shelf across from the washer. Please leave the washer door open after use. From the parking area it is down a set of stairs with outdoor seating and overlooking the ocean and mountains. The trip can be done by car, bus, bike, or hiking. If you let us know we can also arrange a pick-up from Snug Cove. Then you’ll be taking a 500 meter driveway through the natural reserve to the property. The gravel road can easily be driven, and there is always the option to walk up too. brbrOnce on the property there is a 50 meter trail uphill to the actual Unit. We can drive you up with our side-by-side ATV to make it easy with luggage or in case someone needs some assistants. This is what makes this location truly unique, special, and an experience. Walk outside and take any one of the many trails directly from the Unit, that lead to most locations on the Island, or some of the less known local special areas.brbrThere is no full kitchen or stove/oven on-site. The kitchenette (4.3 square meters) has: a fridge, a dishwasher, a toaster, a kettle, a coffee maker, a slow cooker, a sink, and 30L 1500 Watt multifunctional toaster oven (tray 14x12 inch) with a dual warming plates cook top 900 and 500 Watt - possible to fry eggs and cook non large volume of simple food (oven & hot plate heating cannot be used simultaneously). Day-trips to the mainland all via public transportation are possible - just watch the ferry schedule for the last one to return to home. The ferry is the only option on and off the island- it is better to be there 20 minutes before the sailing even if there is no line up, and much earlier if there is a line up. North Vancouver traffic is unpredictable and sometimes it may take an hour or more to get to the ferry terminal. Ferry delays are possible, unfortunately. If you are a walk tourist, please check 280 local bus schedule for the last bus to get Charming Nest from Snug Cove (Bowen Island ferry terminal).
