Outside your quiet cove, you have 1.5 miles of an awesome cove to ski, wakeboard and fish. You'll have a guest slip with mooring whips for your boat, plus a jet ski lift. You also have a number of amazing outdoor spaces to gather including a screened in porch, patio with table with fire insert, firepit and sundeck at the dock.brbrWater toys galore!!! The deck spans the width of the home and has a drop down section designed to lower the hand rail allowing awesome views of the lake from the upper deck and inside the home. The deck also has a Weber gas grill (connected to house gas line), Weber charcoal grill and 8 person dining table with umbrella. brbrThe home is on a secluded 1.5 acre lot. There is a gently sloping stone walkway from house to the dock, with an open guest dock for the renter to have 2 boats, with mooring whips to keep your boat safely away from the guest dock. There is also a sundeck, and 1 jet ski lift for renter), Included are a canoe, 2 kayaks, 4 stand up paddle boards and a peddle boat for renter.. The concrete parking lot has a basketball hoop and ping pong table (balls and paddles provided).brbrThe Great Escape is located on Great Creek in the northwest quadrant of Lake Gaston. The home is a 10 minute drive from I-85. Great winery and golf only a few miles away.brbrCheck in time is 4:00 PM and checkout 11:00 AM EST. Pets are considered, $150 per pet, must be crate trained and have flea/tick applied 30 days prior to stay. No smoking in home or screened in porch. Max occupancy is 19. Parties over 19 people are not allowed due to septic system and parking limits. Primary renter must be over 30 years old. brbrPillows, blankets and comforters are provided. Sheets and bath towels can be rented for $200. brbrWhat is the water skiing like in Great Creek The creek is protected from the main lake by a no wake zone and box culvert. That keeps many of the main lake yahoos out of our private creek. With 1.5 mile run, or creek makes a perfect spot for slalom skiing and wakeboarding. It's not uncommon to see some barefooting and great slalom skiing in the mornings. The jet skis and tubes generally don't come out until 11:00 AM.brbrHow is the fishing in Great Creek The fishing is pretty good right from the dock at the home. Bream (Blue Gill) and catfish are easy to catch from the dock. We also have large mouth bass all around the docks in the creek. There are many bass tournaments that run out of the nearby Holly Grove Marina and many of the fishermen tell me our cove is as good as any at holding large mouth keepers. The main lake offers a variety of good fishing spots including large grass fields as you head up into the river where striped bass are found.brbrHow is the boat traffic in Great Creek During the week it is generally good throughout the day. The weekends in the summer can get busy in the creek between 11:00 AM and 5:00 PM. When it gets too much boat traffic to ski or wakeboard, you can get into calm water in the river in about 20 minutes. Going out of Great Creek and heading north, you enter the river portion of Lake Gaston. The river offers miles of calm water, straight runs and deep water (26 feet). Since the water comes from the bottom of Kerr Lake, the water is cool which is refreshing in the heat of the summer. Deep, cool water as calm as butter is awesome for skiing and boarding.brbrLake Gaston is one of the truly superior lakes in the country, located in the piedmont area of northern NC and southern VA. It covers 20,300 acres, 34 miles long, and has over 350 miles of shoreline. The lake has very little water level fluctuation year round and has the highest water-quality rating in eastern USA (NC Stream Sanitation Commission, A2 rating). Lake Gaston is well stocked with game fish including striped and largemouth bass, walleye, bream, crappie, sunfish, perch and several varieties of catfish. At Lake Escape, we spend our summers with a speaker and a float hanging out at the dock and the cooler months fishing or cozying up around the fire pit. With 2 kitchens, 2 living rooms, 6 bedrooms, and ample baths, there is enough space for everyone. We custom designed and built this home as a family, with family in mind. The goal was to have large common areas where we could eat and play board games together, laughing and enjoying each other’s company with the perfect balance of privacy so everyone has their own space to retreat and unwind after a good, long day.brbrYou will enter our home from the covered carport into the main floor and immediately be met with a beautiful view of the water. On this upper, main floor you will find a huge kitchen and dining room attached to the living room with seasonal fireplace, and two private bedroom suites with attached, private baths. Our kitchen is very well stocked, with lots of seating options for everyone, and the living room is big enough for the whole family! Surrounded by windows, you will have an amazing, unobstructed view of the lake from almost anywhere. brbrDownstairs you will find a secondary kitchen allowing extra storage and refrigerator space as well as a second set of appliances, perfect for cooking for large groups! As you make your way toward the lake, you’ll find the hub. Our living room downstairs is the perfect hangout for the entire family! Downstairs has a more laid back feel and a variety of activities for all to enjoy. Those with a competitive spirit can test their skills at the ping pong table while others can gather on the large sectional to watch a movie, sports, or listen to music! We have upgraded wifi so you will have no problem streaming movies or music (or working if you absolutely HAVE to, but we encourage you not to ) We have an “art nook” for the kids (or the kids at heart) and a generous game closet filled with cards, board games, puzzles, trivia, and so much more. The remaining 4 bedrooms are off these main living spaces on the lower level.brbrOur large yard is relatively flat compared to many homes on the lake and is perfect for throwing a football, playing badminton, or a friendly game of bocce ball (all of which are included!). There is sun and fun galore down at the dock, perfect for floating, fishing, or just finding some sun. At the dock, you’ll find lounge chairs for the sun lovers, noodles and a small selection of life jackets for those that want to float, and even a small refrigerator for live bait for everyone who wants to wet a line. Our paddle boat is available for you to use and you may rent kayaks, paddleboards, or boats from various businesses around the lake. brbrJust because the sun goes down, doesn’t mean the fun stops! We have a built in fire pit, perfect for roasting hot dogs and marshmallows for smores. Just bring your own wood! When the fire dies out, sit around a while. The night sky is filled with stars and away from the hustle and bustle of busy life, you can sit back, relax, and enjoy this beautiful place that we get to call home. brbrThe “Lake Escape” is located in Tanglewood Shores Golf and Country Club, just 6 miles off Interstate 85, Exit 4 in southern Virginia. For a fee, you can play a round of golf on the community’s 9-hole course, or have access to the community recreation area! The rec area is always a family favorite, you can enjoy the beachy area with roped off swimming section, playground, grills, covered picnic shelters, basketball courts, and docks for fishing. Grocery stores, a marina with (our favorite) on the water restaurant and boat rentals, Rosemont Winery, and more local dining options are only a short drive away. brbrWe are so blessed to have this home and the opportunity to share it with you, our amazing guests! It is off the main lake so traffic is slim, the fishing is good and the water is nice. brbrDiscover this 5-bedroom gem in Bracey with a Hot Tub. This brilliant house boasts 2 king beds, 1 queen bed, 2 bunk beds, 1 twin bed, and 1 full bed. Our deck offers amazing views of the lake with a Gas Grill and Blackstone and a marvelous table that seats 12. Wanna play inside... the basement includes a large TV and Pool Table. We have taken the time to make sure the kitchen has everything you could ever need (as I am personally a HUGE cook) ... please feel free to just any condiments, spices... we just ask if you use anything up you replace it for us (or at least let us know). Please take advantage of the lily pad mat, kayaks and paddle boards that we also have to offer at/in our Boat House!brbrBoat Owners:brbrThere is a culvert you have to go through and it’s tight. I fit my 23lsv malibu through it without having to break my tower down. Our dock sits in 5-8 feet of water with lots of room to tie a boat off w/ bumpers and cleats on the dock. There is also a Jet Ski lift that is attached to our Dock, and you are more than welcome to use as well. brbrHolly Grove Boat Marina & Boat Ramp (2-minute drive from house):brbrThis marina has one slot and is not recommended for unloading larger boats. The ramp drops off after the dock on the left side and can mess your trailer up. There is also a $5 fee every time you use it. This place is great to load up on drinks, snacks and Ice cream. They have a small grill inside that offers breakfast and lunch sandwiches.brbrPoplar Creek Boat Ramp (5-minute drive from the house): brThis is the best ramp option closest to our house. It’s free and has two slots to drop your boat. Plus, it’s near the Shady Shack Bar & Grill. The negative is that it’s 25-minute boat ride to the house. brbrShady Shack Bar and Grill:brbrReally cool on the water restaurant offering pizzas, tacos, and other comfort food. It has a nice bar along live music sometimes.
