Up to date furniture, mattresses, bedding, and the cookware to satisfy most foodies.brbrThe Space: Lady Elaine's Cottage is a nicely-appointed, recently-updated 3 Bedroom/2 Bath retreat on 1.5 acres in the woods that comfortably sleeps 8 (+1 with air mattress). The stone fireplace is the centerpiece of the vaulted living room, and the wood floors & natural beadboard give the space a warm, cozy feeling while the wifi gives you all the streaming and connectedness you desire (bring your login credentials!). Have your morning coffee on the covered porch and enjoy the view...grill your burgers and steaks on the front deck in the afternoon...and play some ping-pong, foosball, and pop-a-shot in the basement before you finish the day with a movie from your favorite streaming service. Primary suite features a King bed and a large soaking tub; 2nd BR has a Queen bed; and 3rd BR sleeps 4 with two bunks. Welcome to Historic McGuire House! - A unique example of a late-nineteenth century farmhouse built in Ashe County that's been updated for guests to enjoy. As you enter the property, you will drive through the granary which adds to the historic character of the home. In recent years, the 3 bedroom, 2 bathroom home has been renovated with high end furnishings and the kitchen and bathrooms have been updated. Another neat fact about this home is that it's pictured on the front cover of the best-selling novel, Nobody's Fool, by Pulitzer Prize winning author, Richard Russo. brbrEnjoy scenic views from the two porches of the nearby New River and mountain surroundings. The New River, famous for being one of the few rivers in the US that flows north, offers outdoor fun such as fishing, kayaking, and tubing. The home sits nestled between hills on 5.5 acres over looking the beautiful New River. A bubbling creek runs by the big barn past the deck and joins the New River below the house. Take some time to rest and watch the river from a rocking chair on one of the front porches or relax in the private hot tub at the back of the home. The house also has a complimentary computer and there is fiber optic WiFi throughout.brbrRiver access across from the home may be difficult as hay is grown along the river edge.
