The house has historical books and items from the community that create a true sense of space. The area has many family friendly things to do, fresh seafood, and a laid back vibe. Rob was also communicative and prompt in his responses regarding check in and check out. Beautiful three bedroom two-story house with off street parking and room for your boat. First floor has a large living room, well equipped eat in kitchen with new stainless appliances, two bedrooms and one full bath, and a dining room. Upstairs has a large bedroom with two 3/4 beds and a sitting area, a nook with desk and a full bath. Wood floors throughout, the kitchen is newly updated, new two zone air conditioning upstairs and down, and freshly painted and decorated. brbrbrThe kitchen is very well equipped for a serious cook, and there is everyday dishwasher safe china, glass and silverware, as well as an extensive collection of vintage barware, crystal and china for settings suitable for any occasion. ( glass and dishware with gold decoration must be hand washed-plenty others dishwasher safe)brbrThe back yard is huge, has charcoal park style grill, 4 Adirondack chairs around a fire pit and a large picnic table. brbrAll of the beds are new, the bed linens include 100% cotton sheets, there are reading lights beside the beds to enjoy books from a large collection, with many focused on Beaufort. brbrAmazon Alexa in living room, and Amazon dots in laundry room and in all bedrooms for music, news, weather, alarms, you name it! ( These are not surveillance devices. Feel free to unplug if the spook you but remember to plug back in for next guests)brbrThis is my second home as well, and has lots of antiques, art, books and collectibles not usually found in a vacation rental. Our home is located in the Down East area of Carteret County. We're on the coast, so there's lots of water-related activities!!brbrOur home is located in the area called Down East, which is part of the Outer Banks National Scenic Byway. The area was chosen due to the natural landscape and, specifically, the community-based culture of the thirteen communities that comprise Down East. brbrBeach area is within 1/2 mile offering opportunity to enjoy water sports. Located on the shore of Harkers Island is a nice stretch of beach enjoyed by many locals and visitors. It is very kid-friendly with a beautiful shoreline. Parking is limited, so get there early!! brbrKayak rentals are available 1/8 of a mile from our house at Down East Kayaks. Rates are very reasonable. They deliver and pick up the kayaks for you! www.downeastkayaks.com brbrCape Lookout National Seashore ferry is within 4 miles. The ferry will take you to Cape Lookout Lighthouse and surround beach areas. You let them know the time you want to return, and the ferry will be at the dock to pick you up! You can choose to go to the Lighthouse side of the park or Shackleford Banks island. brTake food, umbrellas, water and anything else you would like to have with you on the beach. Rest room facilities are available at the lighthouse but the visitors center only sells water and a limited amount of snacks.brbrShackleford Banks is home to 130 wild ponies and they are beautiful to observe from a distance. Remember - they are wild so follow the rules that are posted on the island.brbrCore Sound Waterfowl Museum & Heritage Center is located on Harkers Island, approximately 4 miles from our home. The museum contains an awesome collection of Down East history, duck hunting, and culture.brbrA little further away is Cedar Island Horse Stables. There you can rent horses to ride along the beach. It's a huge hit with the visitors. The drive is about 30-40 minutes from our home but well worth the trip. brbrYou can enjoy our deck with table/chairs facing the back yard. brSpace is provided if you bring along your boat!! brbrBeaufort, Morehead and Atlantic Beach are within a 30-minute drive. A few of the attractions are Fort Macon State Park, Fort Macon beach area, lots of shops and restaurants for you to choose from.brbrAvailable at our home is a book containing a thorough listing and description of these attractions as well as local restaurants !

Downtown Beaufort Front Street is a five minute walk to all the shops and restaurants you could ever need. There is also the waterfront to go boating, or take a ferry to some of the islands to enjoy the sites of the wild horses and amazing shelling. Plenty of parking in the long driveway away from the street. Come and enjoy our relaxing and historic Crystal Coast.brbrPlease note this is a duplex style set up and this rental is for the downstairs side. You have a private entrance and neither side has access to the other. brbrThis cottage is dog friendly with a $35 per night fee for you furry family member.
