It is a short drive to several restaurants and shops on the Island. brbrIt is easy enough to park at the North Ferry and walk on as a passenger to explore Greenport, NY (great food and shopping). Take your car off-island for some wine tasting at vineyards along the North Fork. A short drive from Greenport takes you to Orient Point and the cross sound ferry to New London, Connecticut. Or drive to the South Ferry from Shelter Island and travel to Sag Harbor, visit the Hamptons or go to the end of LI and check out Montauk. Lots of fishing and water sports in the area. From Montauk you can catch a ferry to Block Island. Shelter Island also offers summer camps for children.
