The Cabin on Candlelight perfectly combines upscale cabin interior, beautiful lake views, large outdoor patios, and lakefront complete with a private dock to make your summer vacation complete. Candlelight is located on the northwest shore of Canyon Ferry Lake. This is the high-rent district on Canyon Ferry as it offers a true mountain/lake experience. There just are not other vacation properties available in this highly coveted area. At only 15 miles from Helena and 95 miles from Bozeman, it is an easy (perfect ) weekend getaway. brbrThe interior for the ‘cabin’ was remodeled a few years ago. The kitchen has brand new appliances and the wood burning stove ensures that you have the full cabin experience. We have recently grey-washed the walls and painted the windows white to give it a more modern lake feel. Three distinct living areas allow for groups to easily co-exist. The main unit is comprised of 3 bedrooms and 1.5 baths. The 550 square feet ‘anchor’ has a fantastic view of the lakefront inlet but bear in mind that it does not have a bathroom. The bunkhouse (900 square feet) above the garage also does not have a bath. One shower you ask Remember, this is lake living. brbrYes, the interior is beautiful, but where are you going to spend all of your time Outside. This is where the property exceeds all expectations. The deck off the main unit is 600 square feet of perfection. It is a huge gathering place with tremendous views of the private inlet and the greater Canyon Ferry Lake. Just for kicks, there is a second stone patio along the side of the main unit which includes a fire pit, barbeque, and much more room to congregate. brWhat more could you want brbrA few things to keep in mind:br- There are multiple spaces in driveway for toys such as boats/campersbr- The stairs to the dock are steep/old and include multiple landings. They are not handicap accessible. There will be multiple warnings heeded to anyone who chooses to rent this property; you are assuming the risk of utilizing the stairs to reach the waterfront. The tailings from multiple mining claims can be found in the nearby hills. You might get lucky yourself but don't be tricked by the glittering Fool's Gold that laces the stream! In the early 1900s it became Primrose Farm, a dairy providing fresh milk to nearby Helena. Our family acquired the property in 1941 and we are now heading into our fourth generation as stewards of this remarkable piece of Montana.brbrDuring the day take in the panoramic view from the large screened porch. Or hike miles of spectacular trails right from the front door. Wildlife abounds in our mountain meadow and you will spot animals large and small--moose, deer, elk, coyotes, even bear--from both the porch and trail.br brThe spacious main lodge with its sleeping porch and three private sleeping cabins accommodate up to 10 guests. A gurgling mountain stream winds its way between the Lodge and cabins lulling you to sleep at night. Please note we no longer offer options for events. Our 10 guest capacity is firm. If you are looking to expand accommodations for up to 3 people, a fully equipped Chalet can be added to your reservation. The Chalet is a short walking or driving distance from the Lodge and has its own parking and WIFI. This addition can be added for a minimum of one night or be available for your entire stay. However, Cell phone reception is patchy in the mountain valley. There are a couple spots in the meadow where calls can be made although texts can be sent and received more consistently. Please drive slowly and respectfully. There are speed bumps along the way. Black Mountain Retreat and Chalet property begins after the sign before you reach the Chalet. Property on either side of the road, before this sign is private, trespassing is not allowed. Walks down the road are permitted, no offroad vehicles, side by sides, 4 wheelers, dirt bikes ETC. Dogs walking on this portion of the road should be on a leash. If the Chalet is not part of your reservation, it’s likely to be occupied by guests. Chalet guests are asked to refrain from exploring the Lodge space to ensure your privacy. Please honor their privacy with slow driving speeds, respecting the quiet hours and approved pet etiquette. brbrGARBAGE brGarbage is stowed in animal safe trash containers outside the kitchen across the stream. Please close and secure bags before placing them in the containers.
