Glacier National Park cabin! Our basecamp to explore GNP, just 6 minutes away!

Come stay at our cabin, just 7 miles from the entrance to Glacier National Park! We are conveniently located in Coram, Montana, 200 yards from the nearest hike or ski, and across the road from the bike trail into Glacier. All while being close enough to a restaurant and pub to walk- even following a long day in the Park. Two miles down the road is the nearest grocery, as well as the Hungry Horse Reservoir, a great place for boating, fishing, and huckleberry picking. The quaint cabin has a spacious loft with a queen-size bed, and is accessed by a steep staircase (ladder). For those not wishing to sleep in the loft, there is also a queen-size futon bed downstairs in the living room. There is a kitchen available with stove, sink, and refrigerator, which we try to keep stocked with basic essentials.brEnjoy the sun setting behind Teakettle Mountain from the outdoor covered porch, from the fire-pit, or catch the last light while inside through the many western windows. The cabin has terrific access all-year-round, being just 100 yards off of Highway 2. As such, the sounds of the highway, railroad, and our neighbors can be heard. However, those sounds are more than offset by the proximity to Glacier National Park. brJust down the road is the Stonefly Lounge, where you can catch live music on most summer weekend evenings, and next door is the Glacier Grille where you can grab a bite to eat. Across the road is Glacier Highline, a natural adventure park with ziplines and other fun activities for kids. Walk another hundred yards or so and you'll make your way to Coram's own whiskey distillery, where you can taste a little of Glacier's history (be sure to ask for Josephine Doody's story if sampling the moonshine!). Wi-fi is spotty- it can sometimes be out for a couple of seconds or even up to a day or two. As such, we do not list it as an amenity, although it can be useful.brThe main attraction, is of course, the Park! The owners have and do work for park in various capacities (Park Ranger, guide, biologist, etc.) and have an enormous wealth of knowledge about it. In fact, my wife Chelsea and I live and work as scientists just outside of Glacier National Park, and we've started our own business to conduct science in the Glacier area! Search for South Fork Environmental Research and Consulting on our website to see what we're currently working on.brThe cabin has basic hiking necessities as well- bear spray, maps, suggestions. There is really so much to discover- if you have a question about anything in particular, ask the owners in your correspondence. The home is private, with a spacious porch on which to have your morning coffee, eat dinner, and plan your next day in the park. There is a picnic table and a hammock down the trail through the yard, for winding down after a busy day outside. We have added a hot tub, new 2022, for those of you looking to unwind at night and check out the stars! We are close enough to a restaurant and pub to walk to- even following a long day in the Park or on the river. Two miles down the road is the nearest grocery, as well as the Hungry Horse Reservoir, a great place for boating, fishing, and huckleberry picking. The road the we're located on is a wonderful place for an evening stroll up toward Desert Mountain (and connects to a mountain bike/hiking trail up the mountain if you're feeling that ambitious!). The house itself is 1000 square foot, 2 bedroom/1 bathroom new construction. Both bedrooms are located upstairs one with a queen bed and one with twin bunk beds, and a futon/sleeper is downstairs. Only minutes from Glacier Park, and Glacier International airport, this spacious home is steps away from the Middle Fork of the Flathead River. You will be transported back to the early days of ranchers and settlers in Montana while enjoying the comfort and modern conveniences of today. Secluded and quiet with only the birds and the sound of the river to break the silence. Your days can be filled with hiking the miles of trails in Glacier, visiting the historic Lodges, fishing the lakes, rivers, and steams or just relaxing on the deck overlooking the river. Bicycles, picnic supplies, fishing gear. games, books, DVD's, TV, WIFI, Direct TV, Netflix and phone service are available. There are many golf courses to choose from in Columbia Falls, West Glacier, or Kalispell, as well as rafting, fishing, camping and an abundant variety of wildlife. Only a few miles from the west entrance to Glacier Park. There are three bedrooms and a loft. The master bedroom on the ground floor has a queen size bed; upstairs there is also a queen size bed; the third bedroom upstairs has two twin beds. The loft has a full sofa bed. The river that runs in back of the property provides fishing, boating, rafting, and bird watching. Eagles and Osprey can be seen from the porch fishing for trout. Glacier Park is minutes away with the Going To The Sun Highway, a national source of pride, transporting you through the mountains, ending on the East side of the Park, where the great plains begin. Visitors can stop at all of the lodges, some offering boating, golf, swimming and hundreds of miles of hiking. The nearby towns of Kalispell Whitefish and Bigfork offer great shopping and gourmet restaurants. The town of Browning on the East side of the Park has an extensive Indians of the Plains Museum as well as a casino. The North American Indian Days Pow Wow is held in Browning the second weekend in July.

The walls are covered in beautiful taxidermy all mounted and hung by the original owner. The view from the back deck is overlooking a meadow where the elk and deer graze in the evenings. Hummingbirds swoosh and dive over the mountain flowers and the feeder on the deck! Don't sit too close, they will dive down and zip by less than an inch from your eyes! We often cook fresh caught fish on the grill that sits on the deck, open wine and dine with the deer. The front porch has a covered veranda with rocking chairs. Take your morning coffee out and enjoy the pleasure of mother nature waking up. What a humbling experience. Need to get out and explore 5 minutes will get you to Corum shopping, eateries, and distilleries, Lake 5, the Fun Center, or guided tours. 10 minutes will get you to Hungry Horse shopping and eateries, West Glacier, Apgar, Lake McDonald, White water rafting, horseback rides, helicopter rides, and more. 15 minutes will get you to Hungry Horse lake, Big Sky Waterslide, and much more. You can also enjoy Flathead Lake, Whitefish Lake, Big Mountain, Lakeside, Big Fork and more. The season just doesn't matter. The weather doesn't matter, either.
