With our limited space we have carefully chosen utilitarian objects to do double duty: they are fun to look at, but also practical to use, such as a vintage metal trivet, measuring spoons, grater and measuring cup all from the 1950s. Kitchen cabinet knobs are upcycled vintage valve handles from the 1960s, and our kids carefully selected exactly which one should go where.br brRecreation Access - Hiking, biking, bouldering, trail running, fishing, wildlife viewing, kayaking, rafting and SUPing are mere steps away. The house is about a block from the Buena Vista Boulder Garden, which provides rock climbing features for all levels from children to advanced. Adjacent to the Boulder Garden are several access points to the stunning Arkansas River trail. To access the Midland Mountain trail system and thousands of acres of BLM land, take a pleasant, short jaunt north along the river trail. Within a five-minute walk you can also enjoy Buena Vista's municipal tennis courts, disc golf course, pump track, new skate park and a brand new playground. Morning coffee with the wildlife is a treat at any time of year on this patio. Fenced back yard is kid friendly. An elevated deck in the back yard provides even greater views of Mt. Princeton and other peaks. There is a large outdoor playset with rock wall and lemonade stand for hours of outdoor fun for the kids as well as a tether ball game. We have recently installed regulation horseshoe pit in the backyard. We have a variety of bicycles - ranging from a tricycle for the little ones and bikes of various sizes for older kids and adults and a TWO bicycle-built for 2!. You will need to provide your own safety gear/helmets. Sleeps 6 (or 8 comfortably with the pull out sofa) and includes several air mattresses and a pack-n-play for extra babies or toddlers. Your pup will be right at home with a memory foam doggie bed and a fenced in back yard. The kitchen is fully stocked with spices and oils and every kitchen gadget (even an instapot) so leave everything at home and unwind in the perfect vacation spot.brbrYou can bike and walk to almost everything in town. To get to further hikes, hot springs, etc, you will need a car.brbrDogs are allowed with a $100/pet/ stay fee. Please do not leave dogs unattended in house. There is a creek/water ditch that runs from April to November that flows most of the time, creating a gentle creek sound that wraps around the studio apartment.brbrSpacious parking with private entrance into separate studio apartment complete with kitchenette, couch and chair, queen bed and walk-in shower. There are three doors, a laundry room and coat room between the studio apartment and the main house for quiet and privacy. We respect quiet hours (10pm-6am) and please note we do have two smaller children and you might hear some thuds from deep in side our house time to time during the day. The creek/ water ditch that flows from April to November (ish) creates a gentle, steady water flowing sound that wraps around the studio apartment.brbrParking is free and with ample space for up to two parked in vehicles or one large vehicle with a trailer. The neighborhood is quiet with lots of wildlife.brbrThere are three doors and a coat room between the studio apartment and the main house. We have two small children and you will hear them if we are outside and you are outside and/or have your windows open. Otherwise, the apartment is quiet and serene.brbrLocated on the west side of Buena Vista (closer to the mountains), this neighborhood is heavily treed with some of the oldest trees in Buena Vista. Large, old willow trees and cottonwoods fill the house lots with creeks and water ditches running through the properties.brbrThe studio apartment has its own free parking space that will fit up to two vechicles parked in, or a large vechicle with a trailer. In Buena Vista, turn onto West Main, at the light and then turn right onto James Street. Drive down to the brown house with long roof lines, solar panels, a round drive way with a large willow tree out front. The long driveway parking for the studio apartment is on the far side of the house, the north, on the other side of the garage.brbrWe have two small children so you will hear them if you are outside or have open windows and they are outside.brQuiet time from 10 pm to 7 am

First built in the 1880s, the front room is the oldest with hand-hewn maple floors, complete with square nail holes. The wood wall in the living room was the exterior of the house in the early 1900s. brbr Come enjoy a warm fire in the backyard courtyard after a game of corn hole or enjoy a good book by the gas stove after a scenic hike. Soak in the travertine tile shower in the master bathroom or let the kids watch their own movie upstairs in the office- be sure to note the upstairs office can work as a third sleeping space if someone does not mind using a futon with our supplied bedding. Note the office only has access to the house from the outside set of stairs.
