The C-Ray Cottage has a story you will love.......br br This adorable Bayfront Waterman's Cottage exudes that quintessential Chincoteague Charm. The C-Ray Cottage is the former working office of C. Ray Jester, a Chincoteague Original, who was the owner and manager of Jester Bros. Oyster Company. Born in 1892, he began working the water at an early age - seeding & growing Chincoteague salt oysters. By 1925, C. Ray had a fleet of 3 boats, and was operating the oyster shucking and canning operation here.br br Ray worked in this €˜cottage€™ office and on the water until he had a massive heart attack in 1953. Luckily he survived, but could no longer work the business. He enjoyed his later years with his family €“ 2 children, 6 grandchildren, and 9 great-grandchildren until his death in 1971. He would be pleased to know that one of his great-grandsons has followed in the family footsteps - Dan Davis of Captain Dan€™s Tours is considered one of the best and most knowledgeable tour guides on the island! For more information about the Jester family and their history of working the water, please visit Dan€™s page.br br While you€™re here on the island, you may notice that the Cottage is not in the architectural style of most homes on Chincoteague. That€™s because Ray had the cottage moved to Chincoteague from Hog Island in the €˜20s, along with other structures that he had purchased. Upon entering, you will just love the gorgeous Hardwood Floors throughout, and will instantly feel at home. The spacious Living Area has comfortable furniture, and is decorated with a Coastal Flair. This is a wonderful place to relax and enjoy the brand new Flat Screen Streaming TV, Free WiFi, and brand new Central AC! Beach Pines has a great layout for 2 small families to share, or 1 large family, and sleeps 8 very comfortably. The location of the fabulous Home is just perfect - you can ride a bike to the Beach, stroll to many Dining options, and even the new Water Park on the Island!brbrAs you wander through this traditional Beach Cottage, you'll fall in love with the warm wood accents. On the left side of the house, you will find 2 Bedrooms and a Full Bath. Bedroom 1 has a Queen Bed, Beachy Beadboard Walls, and lots of wonderful, natural light. This would be a great 2nd Master Bedroom if 2 families were sharing Beach Pines. Bedroom 2 is absolute paradise for the kids, with a Bran New Memory Foam Full Bed and Twin Bunk Beds. There is even a TV/DVD Combo and Xbox 360 for them to relax and enjoy while the adults partake in a little grown-up time! A Full Bath with Tub/Shower Combo is shared between these bedrooms and is convenient to the Living Area. Located on the other side of this wonderful home is the Master Bedroom with another Brand New Memory Foam Queen Bed beautifully decorated in colors of Sand and Sea. Just off of the Master is a 2nd Full Bathroom with large Walk-in Shower. brbrBeach Pines has a fabulous, large Eat-in Kitchen that the Chef in the family will find perfect for preparing family meals before hitting the beach. You can dine there, or Al Fresco on the Screened Porch, which overlooks the lush, shaded backyard. The Kitchen is very well-stocked - there is even a Crock Pot!
