Sandpiper is just 1.5 miles north of the popular Salvo Day Use Area, where you can experience the other side of the island. Their homestead lasted hundreds of years on the high ground by the live oaks, with the land where Pelican Point now stands serving as the family farm and route to the wetlands and sound for hunting and fishing.
