The Resort is located on preserved wetlands and woodlands on the Black River and includes a gorgeous private marina. brbr brbrCity bus routes and taxis will come into the resort and directly up to the cottage to pick up and drop off guests. Winery tour buses run through the area and several highway entry and exits are within one mile for easy travel. brbr brbrCheck in at 4pm EST. A family room with large windows and comfortable seating for 8. Full size kitchen and dining area.brbrStacked washer and dryer. One and a half bathrooms. The full size bathroom includes a barrier free shower (no tub) and a hand rail by the stool. The half bath is connected to the master bedroom, it is small but functional.brbrA sizable yard with mature trees, fire pit, picnic table, large patio table and outdoor seating gives your group plenty of room to relax and play.brbrJust three blocks from Stanley Johnston Memorial Park, a 15 minute walk to downtown South Haven with it's specialty shops and many restaurants. One block from Oak Street Beach. Many festivals, art & craft fairs and local activities throughout the summer. Wine tasting and tours are only a half an hour a way.brbrBedding, bath and kitchen towels are supplied. We have basic condiments and seasonings in the kitchen. As well as a starter supply of paper products. Please bring your own beach towels though.brbrWe have two outdoor cameras for security. A slower pace is to be found at this oasis - and satellite internet keeps you connected, but perhaps not glued - this is not city internet; if your group is used to streaming videos and living on internet, please know this is not going to be your experience at Hidden Haven. Its enough to check in and stay connected, and I do run zoom meetings for work from here. We have added a cell signal booster as well.brbrLOCATIONbrHidden Haven is less than a mile to Van Buren State Park and 1/4 mile to Pilgrim Haven Nature Area and the beach (which is pretty rocky at Pilgrims Haven, water shoes are recommended). The back of the property butts up to Porter Legacy Dunes, which is planned to connect up with walking trails to Pilgrim Haven Nature Area and is a public nature preserve. The walking trails off Ruggles Road not yet to Van Buren State Park offer great hiking and amazing views as well. brWe are about 3.5 miles to downtown South Haven.brbrWHAT TO BRING brThe property has plenty of parking for your trailer(s), and bringing bikes is a great idea given the proximity to the beach and Kal-Haven trail. Our own boys adore it here, and after a day exploring the area - or just staying in, we love hanging out, walking down to the beach, and catching the sunsets. For us, its all about slowing down and savoring! I like to grab some miles on my bike whenever I can, this is a great place for it! As an early riser, I love the seclusion of the primary suite. Other favorites include meandering the shops locally, or head up (or down) the coast for all West Michigan has to offer. brbrWe are happy to recommend itineraries and have several resources available in our guest book. brbrWe want and encourage this to be a place for making memories, but not the kind that involves all out partying, loud music disruptive to the neighbors, incivility, or disregard for the property and its amenities. Please do not bring your pet if they are or could be destructive to the home, are not housebroken, or would be miserable being kept out of the pool since we can't allow dogs in the pool. You could spend hours curled up on the couch by the blazing fire with a good book or TV show. Don't forget to savor a memorable meal from the 8-person dining table with overlooking the beautifully landscaped outdoor spaces. Speaking of food, when it's time to eat you'll be pleased to discover a modern, fully-stocked kitchen at your disposal. Use the spacious countertops and stainless steel appliances to meal prep. There's enough space to seat 12 guests, so you can enjoy your meal together from the kitchen island breakfast bar, elegant dining room table, porch dining table, or outdoor dining patio.brbrThe second-floor primary suite comes with a deluxe king bed, a TV, and your very own private balcony. Best of all, this suite comes with a sleek ensuite bathroom with a spacious double vanity and glass walk-in shower. You will find two other guest bedrooms on the second floor, both with deluxe king mattresses and one with a dedicated workstation. These rooms have shared access to a full bathroom with a shower-tub combo. There's also a convenient half-bath on the first floor. In the lower level, guests will find another guest bedroom with a king bed, plus two full bunk beds in the living area. Kids will love it! There's another full bathroom in the basement with a vanity and shower-tub combo.brbrYour vacation wouldn't be complete without taking advantage of our decked-out backyard. This private oasis is surrounded by tall, lush trees and brimming with group entertainment. Challenge each other to a game of basketball on the court or take advantage of yard games provided in our garage, fire up the BBQ for dinner, and enjoy ultimate relaxation with a soak in the hot tub under the stars. As the night winds down, gather together around the fire pit to share stories and plan out your next beach day. Just a short walk from our home, is the private association beach which offers tram access, making getting to the beach as easy as can be! In 2025, our Guests will be able to enjoy the benefits of a newly completed beach revetment - new photos coming soon!brbrPeak & Non-Peak SeasonbrDuring the peak season, this home would have a 7-night minimum and would rent Friday - Friday. Because of this, the property does not allow animals of any kind. The beach house can comfortably accommodate up to ELEVEN (11) guests maximum in five bedrooms and two full bathrooms. Three of the five bedrooms have queen beds, the fourth bedroom has a full bed and the fifth bedroom has two three beds. One bedroom is conveniently located on the first floor and has a queen size bed. There is also a full bathroom located on the first floor. There are four bedrooms located on the second floor. Two of the second floor bedrooms have queen beds, the third bedroom on the second floor has a full bed and the fourth bedroom on the second floor has three twin beds. There is also a full bathroom located on the second floor. brbrUpon entering the front door is a foyer with an entrance hall closet. Next to the foyer is the front living room with abundant and comfortable seating for a large family gathering. The front living room has a large flat screen television with Comcast cable service. Beyond the living room is a dining area with dining table and chairs which is convenient for additional dining space. Next to the dining area is the first floor bedroom which has a queen size bed. The first floor bedroom is ideal for any grandparents that may be in your family that prefer not to climb stairs. Just beyond the dining area is the kitchen which is fully stocked with almost every cooking appliance and utensil necessary for making large family meals. Beyond the kitchen is a dining and sitting area which is the best feature of the house. This open space allows the whole family to comfortably gather together while the chef prepares the meal. The dining area offers beautiful views of the back yard which is a forest of one hundred year old oak trees. Walk out the kitchen door onto the back deck which overlooks a picturesque creek and beautifully wooded forest. The natural setting in the back yard is very peaceful and serene. This is where you will sit with your morning coffee and your after dinner. It is our absolute favorite part of the home and think you will agree. Please see our floor plans within our photos to get a better understanding of our home. Another great feature of this location is that South Haven's Optimist Tot Lot Park is just around the corner.
