The perfect vacation rental in Gualala, CA. Month Long Vacation Rental (31+)

Gualala, California, United States

Gualala Point is part of the Sonoma Beach Park System. It overlooks the Gualala River and the Pacific Ocean. When we purchased our beach house in 2013, we were in awe of the extended views of the river and ocean. These views, which are the same as the park are the original thoughts of why we named our home Gualala Point.br brThe town of Gualala itself is very similar to the way Santa Barbara was, back in the late 50's and early 60's. It is a quiet little beach town with a couple of gas stations, a half dozen restaurants, 2 markets, a bank and other local businesses. This is what attracted us to the town itself and the people who live in town are friendly and yet outgoing. Gualala is aprx 125 miles north of San Francisco and 50 miles north of Bodega Bay, just across the Mendocino County line. Mendocino and Fort Bragg are 60 miles further north. Inland lies a series of small towns and numerous wineries.br brBut the real attraction of this house is the quiet and relaxation it offers. From the upper deck, you see the views to the southwest of the Gualala River. To the immediate west, the Pacific Ocean, seen thru the kitchen and living room windows. Our kitchen is fully stocked with utensils needed to prepare a fine family meal. Total relaxation of using the barbecue on the upper deck and sitting back in a lounge chair breathing in the ocean air, is a feeling that has to be experienced to be able to describe. Whale watching, Eagles soaring and deer are common sights. Gualala offers many forms of recreation such as kayak rentals, golfing at nearby Sea Ranch, shopping in town, a gourmet market for food and drink, hiking in the state park and more. Town is within walking distance and there is a gourmet pizza place called Upper Crust that will not disappoint pizza lovers.br brThe house itself offers ample space which can easily sleep 8 people. There are 3 bedrooms upstairs and a downstairs game room, where an 1875 Brunswick Majestic pool table resides. This room has a tv/cable along with a sound system. The walls are lined with original movie posters, rock posters and surfing items from the 50's and 60's. There is an outdoor patio that directly connects to the game room, which offers ocean and river views.br brThe living room, which in my eyes feels like a ski chalet with large glass windows and vaulted ceilings offers an openness to the infinite ocean and river views. Hardwood floors lead you to a 55 TV along with glasses and movies. There are aprx 200 dvd movies to choose from, blu ray, hd and regular dvds. The main bedroom is large and airy. It also has a dvd player and cable. There is a small desk for people to use their computers and a printer is available. The house has wi-fi and internet, of course. All of the bedrooms are color themed . All have their own TV's with either a dvd player or cable. There are 2 bathrooms, one with a shower and the other with a bathtub.br brHeading downstairs for a game of pool, you can experience what the cowboys in the old west did, over 100 years ago. The precision of this pool table, which originally belonged to a member of the Al Capone gang, was found in a Chicago warehouse. It was shipped to California and reassembled at Gualala Point. br brFor those who enjoy local surroundings, 3 miles to the north is Anchor Bay. There is a campground there that houses one of the most beautiful beaches in California, a favorite destination with many of the locals. Cooks beach offers a very pretty and private beach experience, as well.br brContinuing to travel another 10 miles north, you will find the quaint town of Point Arena. PA offers good surf by the pier. The Stornetta Land Reserve and Lighthouse are a sight to behold. Point Arena has a number of restaurants and a very modern movie theater, set into an older building. Besides movies, live plays and music are also events that the theater offers. Lighthouse tours are available br brFor other outdoor activities, the Gualala/Point Arena areas offer surfing, kayaking, boating, diving, fishing, hiking and walking trails, bike riding, various beaches and state parks. This part of Northern California is still wide open and looks and feels like small town California. Anchor Bay offers a Thai Food restaurant and a beautiful private beach. Cooks Beach in Gualala is also a quiet cove with a beautiful beach. Point Arena offers the Pier for food and xlnt surf. Breaks left and right. Stornella reserve and Point Arena lighthouse are two items of beauty. Point Arena is 13 miles north of Gualala.br brSee you at Gualala Pointbr brRay and Pauline Polson

Romantic Oceanfront Home with Dramatic 180-degree Sea View, Hot Tub and Privacy

Gualala, California, United States

Phoenix Nest, our romantic and spectacular oceanfront vacation home, is nestled on two glorious acres of forest right on the ocean.brbrThe 2500 square foot, newly remodeled home is bright and airy and includes a 44-foot living room with windows throughout overlooking the ocean. The two master bedroom suites also have unsurpassed, sweeping views of the ocean. The house has great privacy. You can hear the waves crash and see the osprey and gulls fly by as the low tide unveils the rocks and sandy beach. Watch gorgeous sunsets from the deck or hot tub.brbrFrom the hot tub, enjoy watching sea lions surfing or resting on the rocks on the Havens Neck peninsula. We often see gray and humpback whales and recently blue and killer whales spouting and occasionally breaching out of the ocean.brbrThe bluff is like a garden, covered with plants and natural wildflowers. Known as the 'banana belt,' nearby rivers provide a more fog-free and temperate climate than other coastal areas.brbrPlease No Children, Pets Or Smoking AllowedbrbrbrUnparalleled Beauty: Dear Pat,brWe were greeted by deer and the gentle barking 'hellos' of the sea lions. The house is so comfortable--more space than we imagined and the light so wonderful.. The view rates in our top three--following the Grand Canyon, Positano, Italy and tied with Villa Cinciano in Tuscany. As we say farewell to the deer and sea lions, we'll promise to return and will always remember the beauty by day and the peaceful blanket of the Milky Way by night.brThank you for sharing your spectacular home with us.brBob and HelenebrIndianapolis

There is a new, huge entertainment deck in between main house and garage, with grill, fire pit and ocean views. The main house can accommodate 8, with a maximum 6 adults. brbrGroups larger than this would need to separately book the beautiful, two-story 1 BR / 1 BA studio loft above the garage with ocean views, full bath and full kitchen. This provides space for up to another 2 adults and 2 children. Please see the end of the listing for details about how to book and rates for the studio. brbrThis property is not The Sea Ranch (a planned development to the south of Gualala), but the wild, rural Mendocino coast. Furnished comfortably in contemporary style. There is a full-house battery backup to weather winter storm and summer wildfire blackouts in comfort, and high-speed car charger in driveway. brbrFor people working remotely, the house is equipped with the fastest internet on this part of the coast (Further Reach Business Platinum, 110 Mbps upload/download, 60 Mbps minimum) and a cell phone booster that provides the best reception for miles around. (Guests would need to provide their own keyboard/trackpads and adaptors for the HDMI cables.)brbrThe house is equipped with a battery backup system that will keep everything running normally (except the hot tub) through the increasingly frequent power outages caused by storms (winter) or wildfires (rest of the year). Beachcomb, surf, or jump in the waves right in your front yard. Kayak the Gualala River, fish, or take in world-class hiking, local Sonoma Coast wineries and spectacular Anderson Valley (Mendocino) or Russian River Valley (Sonoma) wine trail. Or just relax and whale watch from the upstairs loft or while enjoying the hot tub. brbrPerfect for writers, families, reunions, romantic getaway seekers, nature and ocean lovers and those seeking serenity in an architecturally unique house. We are in the banana-belt area of Northern Sonoma / Southern Mendocino, in the fog shadow of Pt. Arena, so usually very sunny and mild. brbrWith advance notice, the garage studio is available as an add-on to the main house, which gives you full and exclusive use of the almost 3 acre estate. It is otherwise occasionally occupied, in which case you will still have exclusive use of the entire property except for the greenhouse and small patio off the greenhouse immediately beside the garage. brbr** The Studio **brbrA separate, two-story, ocean-view studio on the back of the property (above and beside the garage) will give you space for up to an additional 4 people (2 adults, 2 children). 648 sq feet (264 upstairs, 384 downstairs). It must be rented if you exceed the capacity of the main house (8 total, and no more than 6 adults in main house). brbrOur listing indicates 5 beds / 12 people capacity so that large groups can find us, but please note that this reflects the overall capacity of both the main house and the added studio. brbr** When indicating the number of guests in your reservation request, please include both main house and studio guests; if the studio is available for adding on we will arrange this separately. **brbrThe studio is attached to the garage behind the main house and has two floors and a private separate entrance. brbrIt is a stunning but cozy space. The upstairs bedroom / living room has a bank of three big, brand-new skylights providing ocean views and amazing light, as well as ocean views from both the new north and south windows. The lower full bath and kitchen / dining room is to the side of the garage, and lets out to small private patio and attached small greenhouse with citrus trees and herbs.brbrUpstairs is a new queen bed and two couches that fold into twin futons. It also has brand new skylights and windows on both sides.brbrPlease note: no dogs allowed in the studio. brbrAs an add-on to the main house, the studio rent is partially covered by the extra person fees already charged as part of your main rental. It then has its own separate surcharge of $110/night for most of the year ($160/night most holidays and July/August, $240/night over Christmas, Thanksgiving, New Years, Memorial and Labor Day weekends) and an additional $150 cleaning fee. I will request this amount from you, through the booking site, after you have booked the main house. Cancellation policies for studio mirror those of the main house.
