Moonshine Ridge ...a Newly Remodeled Vacation home based on the homeplace of the Cove's notorious Moonshiner and yes, Great Grandpa, Jake Garland. This 2 Bed 1.5 Bath home sits on 12.2 acres just over the Ridge from the National Park and within walking distance to several of the area's best Trailheads including Ace Gap, Rich Mountain, Cerulean Knob Loop. brbrThe home puts a modern twist on what was a very basic cabin of the late 1800 and early 1900's in the Bearded Cane area of Cades Cove. The original cabin without electricity, plumbing, or a kitchen would not create a very welcoming Vacation. Instead, this renovated home features a modern kitchen with stainless steel appliances and granite countertops. The island connects to the dining table to create seating for 5. While the living room which had a fireplace as the main feature, it now includes a 55 Smart Television. For entertainment the Garland kids often played with homemade toys and games. Today's Guests get a pool table and foosball for their enjoyment. We did add a second bedroom, because, let's face it, no one wants the kids in their room, and the Garlands had 11. The Bedroom features a Queen adjustable bed and an electric fireplace with its own 42 Smart TV. The Primary Bedroom also includes a Queen adjustable bed and an electric Fireplace with 42 Smart TV, but adds an ensuite bath with double vanity and wet room including a claw foot tub and shower. Just as Mamaw used to talk about -- we included a sleeping loft for those extra kids to bring our total sleeping capacity to 6. In addition and definitely a modern convenience, we added a half bath and laundry area. No need to go outside or to the creek. On the outside, you can sit and relax on the front porch, enjoy the Hot Tub or roast s'mores in your private Fire Pit. We invite you to come, stay, and live the story of Mamaw Nancy's childhood home and life in the Cove in the early 1900s. For a small fee, you may enjoy access to the swimming pool and fitness center located at the Wild Laurel Golf Course, about seven minutes this property.brbrWhile staying at this home, guests will have access to the Wild Laurel Fitness Center at NO charge, and access to the swimming pool for a small fee. brbrPlease note this property has a gravel driveway that has an incline in areas. While a 4 Wheel Drive is not required, it is helpful. We do not recommend motorcycles, trailers, or vehicles that sit low to the ground.

The Great Smoky Mountains National Park and lots of fun activities are just a close drive away, but most of our guests say the favorite part of their visit is the 'home away from home' experience they get right at the Hideout. brbrPlease note that the map shows the National Park is 57 minutes away, but that is to the Sugarlands Visitors Center in the middle of the Park. Our cabin is only a 10 minute drive to the National Park's Townsend entrance, or you can hike into the National Park within a 2 minute drive to the Schoolhouse Gap or Rich Mountain trails, (from the lesser known trailheads. Which are favorable during the busy tourist seasons!)brbrThere are several great restaurants in the immediate Townsend area. We highly recommend the award winning Dancing Bear Bistro, which is only 7 minutes away, https://dancingbearlodge.com/dining/. The Abbey (along Little River) has live music on weekends, trivia nights on Thursdays, and daily gourmet specials. The Little River Pub (also along the Little River) has excellent sandwiches, drinks and our favorite Moonshine Pulled Pork Nachos. To experience the true local favorite” get a world famous chili and slaw hot dog at the Parkway Grocery Gulf gas station. They've sold over a million hot dogs and have been featured on tv. I may be a bit proud and biased because my daughter and son-in-law are the owners, but you won't be disappointed! brbrOur cabin has cable and Wi-Fi along with the DVR feature in case you don't want to miss your favorite team's games while you're exploring the National Park. There are also card games, board games, books, and puzzles to enjoy while relaxing in the cabin. brbrIf you are really adventurous, you may want to rent mountain bikes and ride the Vee Hollow trails right in Townsend, https://rideveehollow.com/. Or you can rent electric or standard bikes to ride on the bike path that stretches the length of Townsend, while stopping at one of our many coffee shops and local artisan shops for a perfect combination of exercise, fun and relaxation. brbrMany of our guests have fallen in love with the beauty and peacefulness of vacationing in our cozy Hideout cabin in Townsend, TN, and keep returning year after year. We hope you will too!brbrKeywords: log cabin, cottage, mountain home, secluded, hiking, biking, shopping, coffee
