In its post-war heyday, the Barlow Cabin—on the route of the historic Barlow Road in Government Camp—hosted everyone from Scandinavian royalty to the world’s top ski racers.brbrMovie star Rock Hudson stopped in for a drink during the filming of Bend in the River (1952). The cabin was built in 1946 by Timberline Lodge’s first publicist, George Henderson, as a compact, convivial base camp and gathering place for skiers and climbers and, eventually, his own children and grandchildren. Now it's your turn to immerse yourself in Mt Hood history!brbrThis rustic cabin offers Pendleton blankets, down comforters, a cozy wood-burning fireplace, a furnace and now air conditioning! There is also a smart TV with Hulu and WiFi to stream. You can also hook up your iPod / iPhone to the stereo to play your choice of music. The Crosstown Trail, with its links to the Westleg Road and Glade and Alpine ski trails, is a short walk / ski away. Walk to dinner in Government Camp or stay in to cook in the small but well-equipped kitchen. It is complete with a wood burning woodstove placed in a stone fireplace, perfect for cozy winter stays.brbrThe roads to the cabin and parking at the cabin are plowed during winter. There is parking for one car on site.brbrAccess to the trails along the north side of Government Camp are accessed at the upper end of Blossom Trail road and lead to a large network of hiking/cross country skiing/snowshoeing trails. Trails to south side of the village can be access by walking over the Multorpor bridge. These trails give easy access all the way to Trillium Lake and beyond.brbrVillage shops and restaurants are only a two minute walk away, ideal for be able to leave the car at the cabin when doing culinary and retail exploring.brbrThe cabin is stocked with board games and videos. The Govy General Store (200' away) rents DVD's and sells items to make your trip even more enjoyable.brbrWhile at the cabin don't forget to check out the Mt. Hood Museum and Cultural Center.brbrIMPORTANT - Shortly after booking our cabin we will request payment for County Room Tax which VRBO is currently unable to capture at booking. These taxes are 6.85% of the amount you pay to VRBO. This situation is unwelcome for everyone, so we hope VRBO will update their software soon! All owners using VRBO for lodging on Mt. Hood are in the same situation. They used to collect this tax but tell us now their software is unable to do it. VRBO has told me they are working on a solution.brbr

Location, Location, Location!!! This unique A-Frame was originally built in the 60's by an architect who lived and breathed mountain life. The house was completely remodeled in 2015, and is like nothing else - truly unique.brbrFor heating on cold snowy nights, a new propane furnace, wood stove, bed heaters on all beds, cozy down comforters, and feather beds insure your feet will stay toasty warm. The bathrooms have been remodeled to include a claw foot soaking tub and two custom tiled showers, along with an instant hot water heater to provide continuous hot water for all guests. There is also a sauna for soothing aching muscles from a hard day on the slopes.brbrThe kitchen is extraordinarily functional with gourmet touches, including a Viking range, Dishwasher, concrete countertops, and everything you could possibly need to blend, puree, chop, boil, or sauté until your heart content. In addition, we have many spices available for your use.brbrSleeping arrangements consist of two bedrooms and a loft. The loft has a queen bed and twin futon. The first floor bedrooms have a queen in one room, and two twin beds in the second. There is an additional twin futon available with bedding.brbrThe upstairs is perfect for family and friends, with a great room concept integrating kitchen, eating, and living spaces. The living room has a huge and cozy Restoration Hardware down couch, along with other designer comforts and a flat screen TV for watching your favorite DVD or streaming Netflix.brbrWe made all efforts to incorporate reclaimed/recycled finishes throughout, which is demonstrated through touches such as 9-inch yellow pine flooring planks salvaged from gymnasium bleachers and the chairlift chair hanging from the ceiling peak in the main room.brbrBest of all, the location of this little gem cannot be beat. Upper Skibowl is one block away. In fact, it takes longer to walk across the Skibowl parking lot than it does to walk from the house to the Skibowl gate entrance. Or rather than heading to the slopes, take a left and walk across Multopor Crossing and you are in Government Camp proper, with several restaurant options like Charley's, the Huckleberry Inn, Ratskeller, or shopping for forgotten essentials and memorable souvenirs. Unless you are driving to Timberline or Meadows, YOU DON'T NEED YOUR CAR. With that said, the driveway can accommodate off street parking for up to 3-cars (Snowpass still required elsewhere in town).brbrTimeberline Lodge or Mount Hood Meadows are a short 15 to 20-minute drive up the mountain.

Camp is located near multiple day hikes that leads to Little Zig Zag Falls, Paradise Park Trail, and the Timberline Trail. We have an adventure course on site that could be utilized as well for an additional cost. When the weather begins to turn, the magic of the mountain really shines. We are located five minutes away from Mt. Hood Ski-Bowl and ten minutes away from the chair lifts at Timberline Lodge. brbrOur cabin provides privacy while still remaining very close to Timberline. The cabin can sleep five people and has a fully functional kitchenette (convection microwave, 2 gas burner stovetop, refrigerator/freezer, and coffee pot). The upstairs contains two more bedrooms and a bathroom with shower. Each upstairs bedroom has air-conditioning during the summer for better warm weather sleeping. There have been multiple improvements throughout the years to make the cabin more comfortable, convenient, and safe without sacrificing the work done by the skilled craftsman of the 1930's.brbrThe roads to the cabin and parking at the cabin are plowed during winter.
