It is connected with one exterior type locked door. It is very private and has its own entrance. The patio and deck area are private for the guest house only. We travel a lot and may or may not be in the main house while guests are staying, but if we are home we or courteous to the fact that there are guests in the guest house. Although the house is well insulated, it’s possible that you may hear slight sound from the main house but there is no living area above the guest house so it should be minimal.br
