The cottage is well stocked with amenities, has A/C, galley kitchen, outdoor seating with fire table, and plenty of parking. The cottage sits on 1.3 acres of woods overlooking Crystal Lake, which can be reached via an access road and a long circular drive. The cottage has windows on almost on every side providing light and showcasing the beautiful views of the wooded lots around it, making it feel a little like a treehouse on the lake bluff. brbrWe hope you enjoy your stay! Everything in this cozy cottage has been planned for your comfort… Wi-Fi, Smart TV, games/ books to read, coffee and tea station, cooking supplies, gourmet olive oils and spices, lots of storage and built in USB ports throughout. In addition to the indoor full bathroom, there is also a relaxing private outdoor shower with hot and cold water, fire table on the deck with cozy blankets for cool nights, a new propane grill, and flameless candles throughout the cottage for ambience. Motion sensor lights in the back of the cottage on both driveways and over each door are for your added convenience and comfort. Additionally, the owner has compiled a binder with area things to do, restaurants, hikes, local maps, and brochures, etc. brbrThe bedroom has a new queen-size bed that is extremely comfortable. There are black-out curtains to separate the bedroom from the rest of the cottage. The home is on a cul-de-sac at the very end of the development and and bordered on one side by the Embayment Lakes Nature Preserve, which contains 2.3 miles of trail and over 166 acres of land, making the environment extremely quiet, peaceful, and serene. There is also a public hiking trail that is available for guests to use and is located just down the hill from the home.brbrThere are a number of great attractions in the area! The start of Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore is just minutes away from the home. Old Indian Trail, only 3.1 miles from the home, is a popular hiking trail in the park and runs through forests next to Lake Michigan and includes public access to Lake Michigan itself. Sleeping Bear Dunes also features a vast array of additional hiking trails, biking trails, incredible views, dune climbing, and tubing, kayaking, or canoeing down the Platte River through the park and out to Lake Michigan.brbrThe home is also very close to Crystal Lake and the cute little beach towns of Frankfort and Beulah, featuring cafes, restaurants, shops, microbreweries, golfing, and child-friendly beaches.brbrLake Michigan is just a short drive from the property and there are a number of beaches on Lake Michigan that are within a 30-minute drive from the home. The beaches range from touristy Frankfort Beach in downtown Frankfort (which is great for people watching, dogs, beach volleyball, and walking out on the pier to the Frankfort Lighthouse) to more secluded and less-populated beaches such as Elberta Beach, Esch Beach, Platte Beach, and the beach at the Point Betsie Lighthouse. Very child-friendly and pet-friendly with a huge, fully fenced-in yard. Beautiful view of Crystal Lake from the eastern shore. Firepit, outdoor picnic tables, Wi-Fi, streaming television, and lots of parking space as well! Also just a short walk (2 blocks) from fun & family-friendly downtown Beulah and Beulah Beach on Crystal Lake!brbrbrINTERACTION WITH GUESTS:brbrOur local property manager lives in the area and is available to address any issues as needed.brbrbrNEIGHBORHOOD:brbrThe cottage is also located just 2 blocks away from downtown Beulah. Beulah is a cute little northern Michigan town located on the east end of Crystal Lake. The town was founded name iin 1880 by Reverent Charles E. Bailey and its name is actually Biblical in nature. It has a cute little main street (Benzie Blvd.) which has a nice collection of shops, restaurants, cafes, a post office, and a couple of bars. We would particularly recommend Ursa Major Bistro and L'Chayim Delicatessen in terms of places to eat in downtown Beulah. One of the neat surprises in Beulah is that there is a wonderful interactive children's science museum called COGnition right on Benzie Blvd. just a short walk (less than 5 minutes) from the cottage!brbrThe cottage is located in beautiful Benzie County, one of the most pristine and natural environments in all of Michigan, and there are a number of other things to do in the area:brbr* Probably the most popular attraction in all of northwest Michigan is Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore. It is incredibly picturesque collection of natural beauty in terms of Lake Michigan, dunes, forests, wildlife, and inland lakes and rivers. There is a vast collection of hiking trails throughout the park and kayaking, canoeing, and tubing on the rivers and lakes is also very popular. The park starts about 8 miles away from the cottage, just north of the west end of Crystal Lake.brbr* The cottage is just a 10-minute drive from the lovely beachtown of Frankfort on Lake Michigan. Frankfort and nearby Elberta offer a fun collection of beaches, shops, restaurants, cafes, a movie theater, a microbrewery, and a few bars. Frankfort has a very popular public beach on Lake Michigan and Elberta (just across Betsie Lake from Frankfort) offers a more pristine and much less navigated natural beach. (Dogs are allowed everywhere at Elberta Beach, but are only allowed on certain portions of Frankfort Beach.) The Frankfort Lighthouse is also one of the famous and historical lighthouses on Lake Michigan. brbr* There is wonderful bike trail nearby. It's called the Betsie Valley Bike Trail and it runs 22 miles from Frankfort to Elberta, then along the Betsie River to Beulah, and then on over to Thompsonville. It is accessible just a few blocks from the cottage.brbr* The area is widely renowned for fishing! Crystal Lake is excellent for perch as well as rock bass. Ice fishing on Crystal Lake for smelt is a popular activity in the winter. Coho salmon, lake trout, and northern pike are also fished in the lake. Salmon fishing on Lake Michigan, the Betsie River, and the Platte River (just north of Beulah) is definitely the biggest fishing attraction though. brbr* The cottage is just a 5-minute drive from the Cherry Bowl Drive-In Theater. Although it's one of the last drive-in movie theaters in Michigan, it's thriving quite nicely and is a very popular place for an affordable family or couples outing.brbr* If a larger city environment is desired with more and trendier shops, restaurants, and nightlife, then Traverse City is just 45 minutes away from the cottage. It is the cultural, entertainment, dining, and shopping hub of northern Michigan and, although still relatively small and very safe, it provides a bit of big city feel to tourists and locals.brbrbrGUEST ACCESS:brbrGuests have full access to all of the house as well as the entire yard. Note that there is a boat dock on Crystal Lake in front of the cottage, but it used by the neighbors and is not available to guests. There is also a small storage shed in the yard that is only used for storage and is not accessible by guests.brbrbrTRANSIT:brbrPublic transportation in the area is quite limited and having a car is really quite necessary. The cabin is on a very private, serene, and beautiful lot surrounded by trees. This cabin has an incredible large deck with a seasonal view of Crystal Lake through the trees. The huge private deck also has outdoor dining furniture, a gas grill, a propane fire table, and a lovely private year-round spa / hot tub right on the deck!brbrbrNEIGHBORHOOD:brbrAnother great feature of the cabin is Crystal Lake and the cabin's proximity to both it and the nearby public beach on Crystal Lake. Crystal Lake is a beautiful, clear, clean, and deep lake with lovely hills around it. The lake is widely recognized as one of the most beautiful lakes in Michigan. It is very family-friendly and is a popular location for swimming, fishing, and boating.brbrThe cottage is also located just a short drive from downtown Beulah. Beulah is a cute little northern Michigan town located on the east end of Crystal Lake. The town was founded name in 1880 by Reverent Charles E. Bailey and its name is actually Biblical in nature. There is also a detached garage on the property that is not available for guest usage. Apart from this, guests have full access to the entire house and everything on the property.brbrbrTHE SPACE:brbrIn addition to the outdoor deck, there is also a very nice fire ring / fire pit on the property with Adirondack chairs around it, which works great for having bonfires and s'mores!brbrInside this vacation home, the cabin is beautifully decorated with Western wood-themed design and artwork throughout the cabin. The cabin has 2 bedrooms, 2.5 bathrooms, and sleeps 8 adults comfortably. The cabin has both a large living room downstairs (featuring a beautiful wood fireplace, which is available for guests to use) as well as an upstairs family room that features a large flat screen television. The cottage has both cable television as well as Wi-Fi. The cabin has a complete kitchen with an electric range, refrigerator, dishwasher, microwave, toaster, coffee maker, sink, island, and lots of counter space and cabinets. The kitchen is stocked with a good supply of cooking and dining utensils. There is a nice dining area with a dining table and chairs just off of the cottage. The cabin also has a lovely den / reading room at the front of the cabin with an additional television. The cottage also has its own clothes washer and dryer.brbrThe master bedroom (with a queen-size bed) and one of the bathrooms are located on the main floor. The second bedroom (with a king-size bed) and the second full bathroom are located on the second floor. In the large basement, there is a queen-size bed and a twin-on-full bunk bed. The washer and dryer are also in the basement along with a half-bathroom. Note that the half-bathroom in the basement does not have a door to it. It is in a private corner of the basement (not visible from the main living area in the basement) for a bit of privacy. Please also note that the downstairs beds work great for adults or teenagers, but, being in the basement, might be a little scary for young children.brbrThe cabin is also pet-friendly, air-conditioned, and has an open design with a beautiful wood fireplace on the main floor. This is truly an exceptional vacation rental property in a fantastic location!brbrbrTRANSIT:brbrPublic transportation is available, but it is highly recommended that guests have their own vehicle.brbrbrPLEASE NOTE THE FOLLOWING:brbr1) DRIVEWAY: The cabin is along a long driveway that runs from Eden Hill Road up to the top of Eden Hill. The driveway serves 4 houses on Eden Hill and is quite steep, narrow, and curvy. PLEASE DRIVE VERY SLOWLY ON THE DRIVEWAY AND BE VERY CAREFUL ON THE DRIVEWAY! There are a few other properties that use the same driveway and neighbors may be walking on the driveway (which does not have much shoulder space). To avoid issues, PLEASE USE EXTREME CAUTION ON THE DRIVEWAY AND BEWARE OF NEIGHBORS WALKING ON THE DRIVEWAY! Also, we have the driveway privately plowed, salted, and sanded in the winter, but it occasionally can still be difficult to get up the driveway in the wintertime. As such, we do suggest that guests utilize vehicles with snow tires and/or 4-wheel-drive when coming to the cabin in the winter.brbr2) LOWER LEVEL: We originally listed this property as a 3-bedroom house, but, as shown in the early reviews, some guests did not feel that the downstairs bedroom qualified as a bedroom and rated us quite poor in terms of Accuracy. Thus, we changed the listing to only being a 2-bedroom property. The downstairs bedroom is now listed as a third living room with 3 beds in it.brbr3) PET POLICY: Up to 3 dogs are permitted at the property. Two of the bedrooms have queen-size beds in them, one of them has two twin-size beds in it, and the fourth bedroom has a trundle bed (a twin bed and a second twin bed that rolls underneath the other one when not in use). One of the bedrooms that has a queen-size bed in it also has a baby crib in the bedroom.brbrThe downstairs bathroom has a tub/ shower combination, toilet, sink, and mirror. The upstairs bathroom has a shower, toilet, sink, and mirror. Bedding (sheets and comforters) as well as towels are provided free of charge! In addition to the bedrooms (which sleep 8), the house has a futon in the downstairs living room. (Thus, in total, up to 10 people can sleep in the house.)brbrThis vacation home also has a large kitchen with a sink, newer refrigerator, newer electric range (stovetop and oven), newer dishwasher, microwave, toaster, and coffee pot. There are a good selection of cooking and dining utensils in the kitchen that are all available for guests to use. Near the back door there is also a stackable washer and dryer.brbrThe Centennial House has a large living room and a large dining room that seats up to 8 people. It has both a front porch with a view of Benzie Blvd. as well as a newer back porch which has a nice view of Crystal Lake as well as a gas grill and outdoor chairs. Right next to the back porch is a lovely four seasons room that also has a nice view of Crystal Lake. With Crystal Lake just west of the house, both the back porch and the four seasons room provide beautiful views of the sun setting on Crystal Lake.brbrThis vacation house comes equipped with high-speed wi-fi as well as a television with live streaming via Hulu, Netflix, Disney+, Angel, and PureFlix. (Hulu provides the equivalent of cable television, including local network channels.) The home does not have air conditioning (which is rarely needed given the proximity to Crystal Lake), but all bedrooms have portable fans.brbrbrTRANSIT:brbrThere is free parking in the driveway! Public transportation is rather limited.
