So it happened on a date, we went for a long walk, on the way back to my home then, we stopped at the corner of this very house, and we stayed, talked and giggled for hours... This is where we kissed for the very first time!brbrThus the name The Reminisce, hopefully you folks are going to make just as great memories here as we did!brbrThis home had originally being build in the mid 1900s.brThe house had gone a lot of chopped renovations and changes over the years. It just never felt complete....brWe took on this project as a great challenge, we preserved the shell and solid bones from this tired old home and did absolute gut remodel to bring it back to beauty.brJust about everything is absolutely brand new or being brought to it's once new glory.brWhen creating the design- we were trying to achieve the charm of an old house, but still contemporary to fit the needs of a modern family.brbrThe interior:brEntry way of the house is all Italian tiled mud room with heated floor, where you can live your clothes and shoes .brbrPlease- be mindful do not wear shoes in the house!brEverywhere we installed brand new stained white oak hardwood floors.brbrThe home opens up immediately to the dining room, living room and fully equipped kitchen, majority of the first floor is open concept and spacious.brDining room fits comfortably 8 people.brThere is a nice electric fireplace to bring up the atmosphere in this space, 60 TV, and the kitchen welcomes you with large island able to fit 8 guests on bar stools. The waterfront, our downtown, Acadia National Park’s Bar Island, and the Island Explorer Bus service are only a few blocks away. The Explorer provides free access to many parts of Acadia National Park. Huckleberry is available by the week, June - September with a Saturday check in. October - May, our town requires a 4 night minimum stay.brbrDaylily’s first floor has a half bath, its own dedicated high speed internet, aliving room with a futon, Roku TV, board games, puzzles, and books for people of all ages. The dinning room table seats 6 and the fully equipped kitchen, with a dishwasher, makes food prep easy. brbrUpstairs there is one bedroom with a king size bed and two bedrooms with queen beds. This is considered by many to be one of the most beautiful locations on Mount Desert Island. Located in the town of Bar Harbor, on protected Western Bay, our cottage sits so close to the ocean that water laps against the deck at high tide. The property is immediately adjacent to the Blagden Indian Point Preserve. Many visitors come to the Preserve to see the harbor seals basking in the sun at low tide.brbrPlease do not bring jet-skis or other motorized water-craft. The low-tide resting area for the federally protected harbor seals is VERY close, and these types of vehicles will disturb them.brbrEnjoy the 1970`s retro decor. This is a family getaway for us and we enjoy keeping it the way we remember as children.:-) Bedrooms 2 & 3 are both lofts. One loft has a privacy curtain and the other uses free-standing privacy screens. The only bedroom with true privacy is the master bedroom.brbrThis cottage is NOT appropriate for very small children. The cottage has open lofts. Also, at low tide the rocks are very slippery.brbrThere is no air conditioning because this is the Maine coast. For the handful of hot days, there are fans available.brbrNo smoking of any kind is allowed on the property, inside or outside. If you are a smoker, thank you very much for your interest, but you should probably choose a different listing. We wouldn`t want withdrawal symptoms to ruin your vacation:-)brbrThe best view of the seals is from our deck. With over a thousand feet of shoreline, we have a beach for convenient kayak access as well as picturesque rocky ledges. Located 20 minutes away from Acadia National Park.brbrGuests have access to the entire house and the entire property.brbrGuests will generally only interact with caretaker.brbrThe property is located in a very private location. There is no neighborhood. Closest groceries are about five miles away.brbrBedrooms 2 & 3 are both lofts. One loft has a privacy curtain and the other uses free-standing privacy screens. The only bedroom with complete privacy is the master bedroom.brbrNever leave anything on the beach. During a spring tide (any tide that occurs during a full or new moon) the beach can be fully submerged at high tide.br- Property is only suitable for children if they can swim in strong currents and are supervised.br- We say no to events or parties in order to add the disclaimer that this is a home on the rocky Maine coast and does not mix well with alcohol. Dinner parties/family events are fine.br- Absolutely NO SMOKING inside or outside the cottage.
