A Blue Sky Lodge

Yosemite National Park, California, United States

Yosemite National Park is a neighbor of A Kojoji Hela Koca, where ‘Dress Circle’ seats await you for a direct vista of this national treasure. The lofty ‘Great Room’ and accompanying loft are the perfect spots during any of the four seasons to experience this natural woodland setting with sunlight streaming through the windows. The gourmet kitchen is designed for ease in preparing and enjoying a sumptuous meal while overlooking the park. brbrThis house includes an octagonal tower on two levels, a great room, a large patio, three bedrooms, plus a library with a sofa bed, laundry, and two and a half baths (including a master bath suite). There is a California King bed, a Queen bed, a Full bed, and a pullout full-size bed; there is a Twin sofa bed in the open loft. Comfort and ambiance are provided by ductless heating and air conditioning, along with a gas fireplace and barbecue. Sit on the deck, curl up in a cozy corner, read a good book by the fireside, relax in the claw-foot tub, slow the pace down, reconnect to family and friends. Come and be on the edge of Yosemite National Park in a house made for enjoying life and being a part of a breathtaking adventure.brbrThe Art Deco theme is woven into the wide array of textures and shapes from its exterior octagonal tower to its interior polished granite fireplace wall. A Blue Sky Lodge is a pastiche of many different styles, united in their celebration of the forest just outside its windows. Yosemite National Park is a neighbor of A Kojoji Hela Koca, where ‘Dress Circle’ seats await you for a direct vista of this national treasure. From the lofty ‘Great Room’ with its built-in acoustics, play an instrument in the loft, read a book by the fireplace, do a jigsaw on the granite table, enjoy the sunlight streaming in the windows … and be ready for all that jazz.brbrThe design and interior decoration of this house were influenced by the bold geometric forms of Art Deco; the bright colors of the era; the updated craftsmanship of the furniture; and the exotic styles of China and Japan, India, Persia, ancient Egypt, as well as Incan and Mayan art.brbrCome to the house along its Art Deco railing of steel and timber, reminiscent of Frank Lloyd Wright’s arcs and spheres, and enjoy the international mix of styles, including an exuberance of patterns and subtle pigments… much like the riot of colours within Yosemite in the spring or autumn.brbrEnter A Blue Sky Lodge through its round blue door and get ready for a kitchen built by cooks. Our family’s pastime is cooking, baking…and enjoying a sumptuous meal together. We built the kitchen and granite island, thinking of people who relish the culinary arts and whipping up a flavorful feast in this natural woodland setting. Sit in the Picasso blue dining room chairs to enjoy great meals…while making great memories. brbrThe Master Bedroom on the first floor is a retreat. A chase lounge is adorned in a Breakers Blue Moonlight fabric and provides a place to grab a quick nap before entering the large master bath, complete with a claw-foot bathtub, peacock feathers in a feature wall, and Art Deco tile trim. This includes a recreation of the ‘1920 Flapper Fans’ in the tile baseboard, combined with a classic mix of Egyptian and Mayan motifs in the large walk-in shower.brbrThe upstairs bedrooms have ample closet space to put the bags in and grab the shorts or hiking pants for a long walk. Art Deco overhead lamps and window trim with red oak pyramids continue the theme. Want to get away The library tucked into the 2nd floor is a good start. The ‘whimsical’ loveseats with their Georgio Pewter fabric will keep one guessing on the best seating arrangement for that room.brbrAnd the loft Built for a choir to perform for your small group below. The musical ‘S’ iron railing pattern is a testament to our family’s love of music … along with cooking. The loft has a circular cocktail ottoman wrapped in a metric blue Caribbean fabric that is just right for catching a glimpse of a deer or a chickaree (Douglas squirrel) out its adjacent paned window. brbrAnd the twin high-back chairs facing the glory of Yosemite are perfect for unwinding, getting inspired, doing a bit of thought-provoking writing or sketching of the trees just outside the tower’s 8-sided space.brbrA Blue Sky Lodge (A Kojoji Hela Koca) is like an Art Deco design -- timeless because of its futuristic characteristics, wrapped in a green (or white) blanket of the natural surroundings. Rich color, bold lines, and symmetrical shapes help brand this house as unique. Sit on the deck, curl up in a cozy corner, slow the pace down, reconnect to family and friends. Come and be on the edge of Yosemite National Park, in a house made for enjoying life. brbrNOTE: The name of this house has been carefully selected by our family to remember one of the Native American groups who lived in the Sierra Nevada mountains around what is now known as Yosemite. We also tried to include the Miwok geometric forms and lines in the materials and fabrics we chose, including the horizontal lines, zigzags, small triangles, rectangles, arrowheads and diamond shapes that are found in the designs they created.

Please note that the standard park entrance fee (vehicle pass) still applies unless you have a valid park pass. Our housekeeping team provides salt, pepper, and a can of cooking spray for your use. Occasionally, previous guests leave behind items such as spices, aluminum foil, or ziplock bags. You're welcome to use any of these, but please note that our team does not check for or restock them, so we can't guarantee what will be available. If these items are crucial to the success of your vacation, we recommend bringing them along to ensure you have everything you need. We try to clearly state this in the listing so there are no surprises. brbrLinens: Did you know that our vacation homes are among the few in the Yosemite area to feature professionally laundered linens For every reservation, all linens are cleaned in commercial-grade washers using hypoallergenic detergent that's stronger and more effective than typical residential options. They're then pressed at 300°F—nearly twice as hot as a standard home dryer—to ensure the highest level of cleanliness and freshness. It's an extra step we take to provide a truly clean, comfortable, and welcoming stay.brbrFireplace/Firepits: No open wood-burning fire pits, bonfires, or campfires are permitted at short-term rentals. Charcoal grills of any type are strictly prohibited. Guests shall not bring any personal grills, barbeques, or other outdoor cooking apparatuses to the short-term rental; only those grills, barbeques, or other outdoor cooking apparatuses provided with the short-term rental are permitted to be used as installed and in the location installed. brbrNo Pets: We love animals but unfortunately, this home is not pet-friendly. This helps us protect guests with allergies. If you're traveling with a furry friend, let us know — we'll be happy to recommend one of our pet-friendly Love Yosemite! properties nearby.brbrParking: There is enough parking for 4-5 cars at this property. The garage is unavailable to guests, as it is used for owner storage. We appreciate you not exceeding the maximum parking limit. Many of the local roads are privately owned and privately maintained. Please be mindful to obey speed laws and drive slowly in residential neighborhoods!brbrGarbage: Garbage truck service is not available in this area. Yosemite Park requires visitors to pack out their garbage. There are several free bear proof dumpsters within walking distance of the cabin where you can dispose of your garbage.brbrSecurity Cameras: There are external only cameras on the premises that face certain entrance points of the home.brbrSnow Chains: California Highway Patrol and the National Park Service may require chains in wintery/snowy/icy conditions. Please ensure you are bringing a vehicle and necessary equipment capable of navigating in these conditions.brbrInsurance: Travel Insurance is provided as an option during the checkout process. Please note that as hosts, we cannot protect your trip from flight delays, illnesses, weather, job loss, or other circumstances that may prevent you from making your trip. We truly wish we could! We STRONGLY suggest purchasing some type of Travel Insurance so that you may protect your vacation investment from unforeseen circumstances that may prevent you from making your trip. It's a nominal cost that can absolutely pay off!brbrMail: Due to locked neighborhood mailboxes, we ask you not mail anything to the property. You are most welcome to mail items to our office (Love Yosemite! Vacation Rentals) in Oakhurst. Please reach out to us to make arrangements.brbrPests: Please note that this property is nestled in the beautiful Sierra Nevada mountains, offering a wonderful connection to nature. Management shall not be held liable for the condition of said items. Any items not claimed for longer than 30 days may be donated or sold.brbrSimple Checkout Instructions: We understand checking out can be stressful and hectic, so we have implemented some of the easiest checkout procedures in our industry.br1.) Please take your garbage to one of several free, bear proof dumpsters near the cabin.br4.) PLEASE return any furniture you may have moved during your stay (especially outdoor chairs).br5.) Most importantly, please note our checkout time is 11am, not 10am like over 80% of vacation homes in our area! Since this home is located INSIDE Yosemite National Park, you will NOT NEED a separate entrance reservation, only proof of your lodging reservation (please see official park website for details). We highly recommend that visitors planning a trip to Yosemite stay informed by regularly checking the National Parks websites and affiliated sources for any updates regarding the reservation system. While we strive to provide our guests with an exceptional experience, it's important to note that access to Yosemite or nearby attractions cannot be guaranteed, especially during peak seasons. By staying informed and flexible, visitors can better navigate their travel plans and make the most out of their trip to this beautiful region.brbrKitchen: Henness House comes with a well-stocked kitchen featuring a full set of high-end cookware, conical burr coffee grinder, coffee maker, blender, and more! It's an extra step we take to provide a truly clean, comfortable, and welcoming stay.brbr*Bunkbeds: Please note that due to California Worker's Compensation restrictions, housekeeping will not be able to make the top bunk prior to arrival. Fresh sheets, bedding, and pillows are absolutely provided for it though!brbrFireplaces/Firepits: No open wood-burning fire pits, bonfires, or campfires are permitted at short-term rentals. If you're traveling with a furry friend, let us know — we'll be happy to recommend one of our pet-friendly Love Yosemite! properties nearby.br brParking: There is enough parking for 3 cars at this property. We appreciate you not exceeding the maximum parking limit. Many of the local roads are privately owned and privately maintained. Any items not claimed for longer than 30 days may be donated or sold.brbrSimple Checkout Instructions: We understand checking out can be stressful and hectic, so we have implemented some of the easiest checkout procedures in our industry.br1. No need to start any laundry, we'll handle it all off site with our professional linen company.br2. If you could start the dishwasher, that would be very helpful.br3. Place all garbage in the bear proof dumpster located in the driveway, and secure lid.br4. PLEASE return any furniture you may have moved during your stay (especially outdoor chairs).br5. Most importantly, please note our checkout time is 11am, not 10am like over 80% of vacation homes in our area! Our housekeeping team runs on caffeine and tight schedules, so they sure do appreciate you leaving on time!br6. Lastly, don't forget to get a photo with your family and friends before leaving!

Only a few of our home properties have recently been able to receive Internet access. Due to our remote location, and the fact that most of our properties are surrounded by tall Yosemite pine and cedar trees, it makes it almost impossible to receive clear satellite signals, nor cable available yet in our community. The system we currently have is a satellite-based Internet system and is vulnerable to adverse weather conditions, therefore we cannot guarantee Internet connectivity during your stay or reliability for video calling and video streaming.
