Cabin

INSIDE YOSEMITE! 10 Minutes From Yosemite Valley. Summer and fall openings!

Yosemite National Park, California, United States

Ten minutes from Yosemite Valley and conveniently located on the paved road, this one bedroom cabin in Foresta offers complete relaxation in a quiet setting. The full kitchen includes all modern appliances (excepting dishwasher) and comes equipped with dining area, coffee maker, toaster, blender, pots, pans & dishes. Or use the propane BBQ while enjoying the beautiful outdoors. Eat on the screened porch, safe from pesky bugs, or relax on the couch. The modern bathroom features a walk-in shower and stacked washer/dryer. The bedroom has a comfortable King bed, closet and supplemental electric stove. Equipped with romantic flame gas insert and A/C. Explore the quiet surroundings, stroll to Crane Creek moments away, then rest under the shady oaks and pines. (See also our sister listing #726304, Shady Grove Cabin for additional two person accommodation.)brForesta is a great starting point to various Yosemite destinations, Yosemite Valley, Tuolumne Meadows, the Merced & Tuolumne Groves of Sequoias and many hiking trails. Offering Free satellite TV, WIFI and HughesNet Gen4 internet, Verizon's 4G network is also available.brbrForesta is located within the boundaries of Yosemite National Park. Now known as an “inholding”, Foresta (Big Meadow) started as a pioneering area. Two ranches (McCauley and Meyers) provided beef, pork, dairy and vegetables to the Yosemite Valley hotels. In the twenties, it was sub-divided and given the name of Foresta. Created as an “artistic” community, musical gatherings were held by the creek. After the Great Depression, many lots were sold for back taxes. Approximately 75 homes were in use, either full time or seasonally, before the 1993 A-Rock fire destroyed most of them. More than half of the homes have now been rebuilt. Fire has been a defining force in this area, showcasing Mother Nature's endless cycles.

Cabin

Owl Moon Cabin - Rare jewel of a cabin located inside Yosemite National Park

Yosemite National Park, California, United States

This cabin is one of the few properties that is actually located inside Yosemite National Park, with the shortest drive to Yosemite Village. The 7 mile drive from the cabin to Yosemite Village is a breathtaking descent with plenty of iconic photo opportunities. brbrWe’ve been renting our beautiful cabin for 15 years now and have never received a negative review. However, we were previously listed on a private site and have just now made the switch to VRBO, which is why we have no reviews (yet!). brbrThis beautiful, custom-built, 2 bedroom, 2 bathroom cabin is perfect for your Yosemite basecamp. We can accommodate up to 5 guests with a truly comfy pullout queen sofa couch, in addition to the 2 upstairs bedrooms. brbrAfter a day of hiking and exploring the park, return home to your quiet cabin with its well stocked kitchen and outdoor propane grill, for a lovely dinner on the deck while watching the sun set over the sierras. Both the front and back decks have tables and chairs for group outdoor dining. If you want a break from the crowds in the park, the Foresta area where are cabin is located, is the perfect area to explore on foot from your front door. brbrWe’ve put so much love, care, and thoughtfulness into this cabin, all of which will be apparent when you first step foot inside. Our housekeeper lives next door and takes care of it as though it were her own. We hope you love it as much as we do! brbrRoad conditions in the Foresta area; there is a main paved road into the Foresta area. The access roads to the cabins, are hard, dirt/gravel packed roads that are fine during summer/fall dry months, however, they can be more difficult with snow and ice on the ground. brbrFor my winter guests, I want to make sure they understand winter road issues. The Foresta area of the park doesn't often get a great deal of snow, but that said, every winter there will be one, or two, good snow falls that can make access to the cabin difficult. Winter of 2022-23 was an exceptional doozy for snow! The park actually closed due to snow for over two weeks! brbr The county plows the main paved road into the Foresta area, where these cabins are located, but not the access roads. We have some local plowing and snow blowers to try to clear the approximately 1/4 mile access road to our cabin, but the dirt/gravel road would be too damaged by a plow to clear to dirt level. brThe ideal vehicle for a winter visit would have 4-wheel drive with higher clearance.brbrThe park service states that during the months of November - April, all visitors should be carrying snow tire cables and know how to use them. Call NPS road & weather, prior to your departure.brbr

Our condominiums come in two configurations, studios and lofts. All units come completely furnished and fully equipped with everything you'll need for a comfortable and enjoyable stay.brbrbrbrbrDo you have internet access at any of your home properties Yes but very limited! Only a few of our home properties have recently been able to receive Internet access. Due to our remote location, and the fact that most of our properties are surrounded by tall Yosemite pine and cedar trees, it makes it almost impossible to receive clear satellite signals, cable isn't available yet in our community. The system we currently have is a satellite based Internet system, and is vulnerable to adverse weather conditions, therefore we cannot guarantee Internet connectivity during your stay.
