Its boundaries are not well established, but they appear to extend along F Street NW from 5th to 10th Streets, and approximately H Street on the north where Penn Quarter abuts or partially overlaps with Chinatown. Penn Quarter is southeast of the Metro Center shopping district. Penn Quarter has been rejuvenated over the past several decades, stimulated first by the Pennsylvania Avenue Development Corporation (PADC) and later, following the recession in the 1990s, by the Verizon Center, a sports, concert and event arena that opened nearby at 7th and F streets in 1997 as the MCI Center. Penn Quarter now boasts a variety of entertainment and commercial establishments including museums, theaters, restaurants, bars, and contemporary art galleries. The area is also home to a popular farmers market and several food, wine, art, and culture focused festivals. brPenn Quarter is home to many restaurants, cultural, and entertainment venues in Washington, D.C. On Thursday afternoons in spring, summer, and fall, the FRESHFARM Penn Quarter farmers market is open on 8th Street, just south of E Street. The Newseum is located at the intersection of 6th Street and Pennsylvania Avenue, NW. The building also includes offices and television studio space, The Source restaurant by Wolfgang Puck, and the Newseum Residences, an apartment rental community. The neighborhood is served by a variety of recreational and entertainment facilities including seven theaters, Lucky Strike bowling and several exercise clubs. Other neighborhood amenities include several coffee shops and a teahouse / restaurant on 8th Street; three salons with day spas; the nearby Landmark E Street Cinema, which screens independent films; Regal Theater; and shops selling clothing, jewelry, ice cream, and books, among other things. You can also swap from one of our properties to another as available if needed. Yiu can see a 3d tour for each of our places including this one at Capitol Hill Stay. brbrPLEASE SEND AN INQUIRY PRIOR TO SENDING A BOOKING REQUEST. brbrPLEASE FEEL FREE TO ASK ABOUT PRICING. We have been a primarily longer term housing provider for 25 years but pricing is very hard to communicate and set, as it's impossible to know the dates and circumstances of every possible guest's needs in advance when we set pricing. Pricing may vary significantly depending on length of stay, specific dates, etc. For longer term stays there may be discounts possible.brbrGuests have complete access and privacy. NOT a shared spacebrCapitol Hill is an outstanding neighborhood. It's historic, charming, and ideally located at the absolute geographic center of DC. Terrific safety, with the US Capitol police patrolling the area. Home to many politicians, media figures, etc. brbrCorner groceries, pharmacy, great diner and dry cleaners a two minute walk away. brbrEastern Market (farmers market and baker/butcher etc) is a few blocks away. Capital Bikeshare kiosk is a couple minutes walk.brbrUber and Lyft and cheap and very easy to get here.brbrDC Circulator metro rapid bus transit also very close by.brbrPerfect spot to explore DC from. Excellent neighborhood for longer term stay as well.brbrApartment has electronic locks so late check in is no problem. This building is on the third floor (two floors up from lobby level). There is an elevator, but to get to the lobby area you will need to walk up about ten steps. Like many buildings of this era in DC the building heat/air conditioning system that either heats or cools, depending on time of year. It does not do both simultaneously. If you have any questions just let us know.brbrInquire about parking PRIOR to booking please. There is very little need to bring a vehicle, as there is great metro and bikeshare access, and rideshares are inexpensive and readily available. Most places you want to go to in DC won't have parking when you get there. 24/7 street parking near this property is possible with a street parking pass, which can be obtained from the DC DMV with a copy of a lease and vehicle information. It costs around $250 for a six month pass. Free street parking with no pass needed is free and open to all every night, all weekend, and two hours each weekday. We have about five offstreet parking spaces in the immediate area. We rent them from neighbors. IF a paid space is available they usually go for $300 a month. Union Station parking garage is five blocks away and can do monthly rentals including oversize vehicles for around $300 a month.brbrA word about rates:brbrSince every booking is different the rates listed are an approximation. Rates are based on length of stay, specific dates needed, amenities requested, etc. Bookings less than 91 days are subject to the DC lodging tax of 15.95%. SINCE EVERY INQUIRY IS DIFFERENT AND THE BIGGEST FACTOR IN PRICE IS THE SPECIFIC DATES CHOSEN AND LENGTH OF STAY RATES MAY BE HIGHER OR LOWER THAN WHAT IS POSTED. PLEASE INQUIRE SO WE CAN DISCUSS PRIOR TO SENDING A BOOKING REQUEST.brbrFall and winter months are very high demand, moreso this year than ever before as this is the first year that many federal agencies and private employers are bringing people back to DC, and they are making up for lost productivity during Covid. brbrAnd of course it's a presidential election year. brbrMost furnished housing providers in DC will only take bookings for three months or longer during these months. We will do less, but the rates do go up. And generally we try to match an incoming booking with an apartment that is available within a week or so of the requested date. For instance if you are seeking a month rental beginning July 1 we would want to match your request with a property available in very late June or July 1. If the property you inquired about seems to have an availability date that may not match up then you can always check HERE see all properties and their available dates.brbrOur average booking is around four to six months. We are primarily a longer term lodging provider. We can do shorter, but in the furnished housing business rates go up for shorter stays. brbrPlease don't hesitate to let us know if you have any questions.

Carriage House Studio in the Heart of DC

Washington, Washington D.C., United States

Our recently renovated carriage house studio is located in one of DC's best neighborhoods, just two blocks from bustling 14th Street (Logan Circle), 17th Street (Dupont Circle), and U Street. There are plenty of bars, restaurants, and stores within a couple of blocks. It's also close to downtown DC with the White House about a mile away and the National Mall close by! Our studio is the perfect location for visiting friends, sightseeing, and exploring all that DC has to offer.brbrThere are several bus stops nearby, two separate metro/subway stations that are each about a ten-minute walk, and multiple Capital Bikeshare stations a couple of blocks in all directions.brbrYou access the carriage house studio via the alley behind our home. You enter through the garage by entering a garage door code. The studio is on the second floor. It is one large room with a kitchenette.brbrThe kitchenette has a mini-fridge with freezer, microwave, hot plate, Keurig, and drip coffee maker. The studio itself has several windows, A/C, heat, a ceiling fan, ample closet space, and a combo washer & dryer. The full bathroom is in a separate room.brbrPlease note that the studio has a steeper than normal staircase to enter and exit. The stairwell has a handrail and is well lit. The backyard courtyard cannot be used.brbrFor the streets closest to the carriage house, we can provide you a free parking permit that allows you to park nearby in all areas marked as Zone 2 parking. In order to receive a permit, you can send us your state, license plate number, and make/color of your car. We will print you a copy of the permit that you can leave on the dashboard. brbrPlease note that the parking permit is only valid on the surrounding streets and is not valid in all of DC. Please also pay close attention to street sweeping signs to avoid tickets. While the carriage house is located in one of DC’s safest neighborhoods, please do not leave anything visible in your car.brbrFor public transportation, nearby there are bus stops, two metro/subway stations, multiple Capital Bikeshare stations, rentable electric scooters & bikes, and plenty of Ubers/Lyfts/taxis. It's also a very walkable area with ample street parking.
