Location, location, location. Those are the three best things about our historic family home. Meek's Mountaintop Retreat is located at Sunrise Point on top of Mount Nebo within Mt. Nebo State Park. As the name implies, we have spectacular views from the top of the mountain. We are at the end tip of the mountain, with one vista to the East - perfect for watching sunrises, and one to the South, a favorite take-off launch for hang gliders. Relax, enjoying the panoramic view of the AR River Valley, or get physical on 36 miles of world class biking and hiking trails. brbrMount Nebo is a flat-topped mountain, located between the Ozark and Ouachita Mountains. It is perfect for weekend get-aways, and Spring, Summer or Fall vacations. Arkansas is 'the natural state', and Mount Nebo is one of its gems. You will see deer daily, hummingbirds in season, flora and fauna of all types. Our mountain is famous for its natural beauty, and lately, the new Monument trails and Enduro bike races. At our cabin, we are more known for R&R than athletic prowess, but don't let us stop you. Some of the trails start right outside our door. brbrOur two cabins on Sunrise Point are private residences. The Main Cabin is 120 years old, one of the first homes on Mt. Nebo. It has its foibles, but it has been dearly loved by our family for five generations, and we insist that it is comfortable and full of toys conducive to making memories. Our guests can enjoy the comfort of our home, but also can take advantage of the many facilities offered by the state park: outdoor swimming pool, tennis courts, baseball field, playgrounds, pavilion for large parties, classes and special events. brbrOur guests at our Main Cabin love our outdoor seating areas, comfy, premium bedding, full-kitchen and grilling amenities, bike station, herb garden, hammocks and chaise loungers. But they especially love our views! brbrWe often provide carrots so you can feed the deer. Fireflies on summer nights bring sweet memories of childhood. We guarantee an assortment of wildlife - some you will like, and some you won't. Last summer we were visited by armadillos and raccoons. We normally see roadrunners and winged birds of all types in our yard - sometimes even human hang gliders if the wind is right. Other visitors show up unannounced: bunnies, foxes, wood chucks, possums, an occasional field mouse, and once - a skunk. Luckily, the skunk was just passing through - he did not stay. brbrWhile Nebo is a forest area, thus rural, nearby towns of Dardanelle (10 min) and Russellville (20 min) offer city services, restaurants and shopping, This tri-peaks region hosts three other state parks. The Holla Bend National Wildlife Refuge (25 min) is great for bird watching and hiking; Lake Dardanelle and the AR River (10 min) offer fishing and fishing tournaments, boating, rafting, kayaking, lots of boat docks and a marina; Arkansas Tech University (25 min) sponsors courses, plays, concerts, football and other sports; Altus (55 min) is the heart of AR wine country. Hot Springs and the Oaklawn horse racing track are 90 minutes. The fabulous Crystal Bridges Museum is a 2 hour drive. So, our area provides action or no action, as you prefer. brbrOur Main Cabin is primarily a wood house, covered with siding, set on stone footing, surrounded by screened porches. It sits on a three-block yard, so we focus a lot of attention on our outdoor facilities: chaise loungers, sofas, lots of cushions, sun umbrellas, beach towels, benches, 2 dining tables (each seating 6-8), two smaller round tables (each seating 4), a firepit for s'mores, an herb garden, tree hammocks, both a charcoal and a gas grill, with all the BBQ supplies and serve ware you might need. We are often asked if we host weddings. Yes! We love weddings. Let's discuss your needs.brbrInside, there is a den with game table, dining table that seats 6, TV (with Roku, Amazon Prime, Netflix, Peacock and other streaming services), free internet of course. In the back of the den are books, puzzles and games for kids of all ages. There are binoculars for bird watching and a telescope for star gazing. brbrOur full kitchen includes tons of pots and pans, dinnerware, serve ware for entertaining, etc. Owner likes to cook, so you should have all the equipment you might need - plus. brbrThe Main Cabin guest bedroom is a large room containing one double bed and two twin beds. Thus, we list the house as having beds for four, but we also have floor mattresses, chaises, etc., plus camping equipment if you group / family is larger. brbrNote: A second cabin we call Razorback Ridge is our office/ art studio/ laundry area. RR is available on a limited basis if you need a second, private space (VRBO #3371391)brbrThe North and East porches of the Main Cabin include an indoor hammock and assorted chairs, tables and loveseat. The back (West) porch entryway can be used for ice chests, covered bike storage, and we offer hose and faucet outside, plus disposable towels for hike and bike cleaning stations. brbrThe bathroom contains a sink, toilet, fireplace, chair and old-fashioned metal shower. We provide abundant towels and toiletries. brbrFor those who want to 'rough it' camping in our yard - experiencing nature part-way, but with the added comforts of kitchen and bathroom facilities - we provide tents, air mattresses, pumps, sleeping bags and camping linens. This option is often favored by teens.brbrWe love Mount Nebo so much, and we love to share it with others! Grab a coffee and experience the glorious daybreaks at Sunrise Point. Or just sleep in. Mountaintop Cabin - Bike Hike or R&R - Razorback Ridge at Mt. Nebo State Park

Location, location, location. Those are the three best things about our family home atop Mount Nebo State Park. Our cabins are at Sunrise Point, and we have spectacular, panoramic views to the East and South, perfect for watching the sunrise or just enjoying the clouds and the beauty of the AR River Valley. World-class hiking and biking trails are accessible right outside our doors. That is the exceptionally good news. brbrNow for the bad news: The cabin we call Razorback Ridge is our very small studio apartment, 12 x 20. It is jam packed with Arkansas Razorback paraphernalia - Go Hogs! So, you need to be a Razorback fan, or at least have a sense of humor about our kitschy pig mascots. brbrRR is a separate building, built to accompany our Main Cabin as an office / art studio / laundry and extra bedroom. Most often, RR is rented alongside Meek's Mountaintop Retreat (VRBO # 2898931) when guests desire additional space. brbrRR has a kitchen sink, washer/dryer, tv, wireless internet, Mr. Coffee and Keurig coffeemakers, bedding, towels, hot water . . . but NO TOILET. That is the very bad news. RR can be rented out on a daily basis to individuals (campers, hikers, bikers, hang gliders) who want an indoor crash pad with microwave, small fridge, a/c and heater. These guests can use the main cabin bathroom 22 steps away, shared with the Owner, but since VRBO lists only completely private spaces for rent - no shared spaces - our description for RR must point out this limitation. As an alternate to sharing a bathroom, RR guests can bring their own portable camping toilet, or use the public facilities of the state park. brbrMount Nebo State Park is a flat-topped mountain, between the Ozark and Ouachita mountain ranges. It is perfect for weekend get-aways and Spring, Summer and Fall vacations. br brHere at Sunrise Point, wildlife abounds! Hummingbirds and deer are abundant. Fireflies on summer nights bring sweet memories of childhood. You can count on an assortment of critters, some you will like, and some you will not. This week we have been visited by an armadillo and a raccoon. The armadillo was fun. The raccoon - not so much. Normally, daily, you can see roadrunners and winged birds of all types . Sometimes, if the wind is right, you can see human hang gliders jumping off our cliffs. Other visitors show up unannounced: bunnies, foxes, wood chucks, possums, an occasional field mouse, and once - a skunk. Luckily, the skunk was just passing through - he did not stay. brbrWhile Nebo is a forest area, thus rural, nearby towns of Dardanelle (10 min) and Russellville (20 min) offer city services, restaurants, shopping, etc. This tri-peaks region hosts three other state parks. The Holla Bend National Wildlife Refuge (25 min) is great for bird watching and hiking; Lake Dardanelle and the AR River (10 min) offer fishing and fishing tournaments, boating, rafting, kayaking, lots of boat docks and a marina; Arkansas Tech University (25 min) sponsors courses, plays, concerts, football and other sports; Altus (55 min) is the heart of AR wine country. Hot Springs and the Oaklawn horse racing track are 90 minutes. So, our area provides action or no action, as you prefer. brbrAvailable with any RR rental is full camping gear: tents, air mattresses, sleeping bags, pumps, flashlights, hiking sticks, etc. This is offered to those who want an outdoor camping experience, but with the added luxuries of toilet and shower. As a single Mother, I always wanted a campsite where my child and her friends could camp outside next to me, but I could enjoy the internet, tv and a/c - cozy inside - instead of 'full' nature. RR is perfect for that. The bed is a futon which includes a full-size mattress topper, tons of pillows, feather duvets, electric blankets - very comfy! There is an office desk, chair, printer, artist's drafting table, easels, plus cushy beanbag seating for watching TV. brbrOur RR guests have full use of our three-block outdoor facilities: chaise loungers, cushions, sun umbrellas, dining tables, bike station, firepit, benches, tree hammocks, BBQ grills both charcoal and gas), even an herb garden. . . If you want to borrow books, games or the telescope from the Main Cabin, just let us know. brbrInside, RR is comfortable for one, but two is a crowd. We won't even consider renting to more than two, unless you are using tents outside, as you won't be happy, and we always aim to make our guests happy. Also, we only rent RR to individuals as a separate rental IF the Owner is occupying the Main Cabin, thus dates are limited. There are no shared facilities with strangers. If you are renting the Main Cabin, you have total privacy of all the Main Cabin - no shared spaces at all. If you are renting RR as a separate rental, you have total privacy within RR, but will share the MC bathroom with only the Owner.brbrSome of our guests use RR as a half-way stop between Little Rock and Fayetteville when enroute to Razorback games. Where else can you find total immersion of red, white and hogs Razorback Barbie dolls, vodka bottles, lava lamps, crock pots, puzzles, croquet sets, darts, night lights and tavern lights . . . paraphernalia too numerous to list. brbrGrab a coffee and join us for sunrise!
