Oro Hill House is located just outside the tiny town of Oroville, overlooking the beautiful Lake Osoyoos. Unlike Lake Chelan, Lake Osoyoos is still a relatively undiscovered gem of central Washington. If you want the beauty of Lake Chelan, but not the crowds and tourist traps, Lake Osoyoos is for you. We welcome fishermen! The lake is known for fantastic bass and trout fishing. Bring your boat and water gear, fish and tube during the day, and hang out poolside in the evening while you grill steaks or try your hand at wood-fired pizza-making!brbrSome of our local favorites include: brbrGOLF at Oroville Golf Club. Family-friendly, outstanding views, and an all-around fun course.brbrHIKING Whistler Canyon Trail. This hike is actually a completed portion of the PacificbrNorthwest Trail. It climbs quickly at first, and features great views of Okanogan Valley, and if you climb high enough, the North Cascades. It also has terrific wildlife viewing possibilities. Hikers commonly report seeing mountain goats on rock faces above the trail. Mule deer, bear, marmot, and wild turkey have often been sighted here as well.brbrSimilkameen Trail: Like the Spokane Centennial and other urban trails, the Similkameen Trail is a jewel. A rail-to-trail conversion, this paved and graveled route offers visitors opportunities for biking, hiking, birding, wildlife sighting and wildflower-spotting. Photographers will love the river views, biologists the salmon viewing, and history buffs the story of the trail. Pro Tip: For a seven mile hike, there is another trailhead. In Oroville, follow the signs to The Old Depot Museum and Visitors Center. The trailhead is just up the street from the museum. Follow signs for the Oroville Trailhead.brbrbrROCKCLIMBING McLaughlin Canyon and exploring the caves: McLaughling Canyon Caves are a series of inter-connected fracture caves and crevasses in the southwestern slope of Tonasket Mountain. These are difficult caves, so not recommended for children, but if you are healthy and up for adventure, these caves are for you! There is a thousand+ feet of passageway with vertical inter-mixes. Some of the routes are naturally lit from narrow slits open to the sky above. Other areas are lightless. These are unregulated caves and at this time I am unsure of ownership. Spelunkers love these caves!brbrTONASKET WATER RANCH: A ranch-themed splash pad and small waterpark for families to enjoy some fun in the sun! Free!brbrWINERY: Esther Bricques Winery & Vineyard. Featuring local wines and musicians most weekends throughout the summer! Check their website for details.
