Our beautiful home on the South Puget Sound waterfront of Anderson Island is located in one of the most scenic areas you can imagine. This is a great place to relax and walk on the beach and enjoy the wildlife. We have herons, eagles, deer, seals, and many smaller creatures to keep you company. Eagle Island, a marine state park, is within rowing distance of the house and also adds to the already spectacular view from the front windows . You can bring your own kayaks or rent from Anderson Island kayaks. If you're feeling adventuresome, the island has several beautiful hikes and nature walks nearby. Tennis courts and a 9 hole public golf course are just a short drive away. The swimming hole on Lake Florence is a fun place to go for a refreshing swim during the summer months. On cooler days, build a fire at home in one of our wood stoves, and curl up with a hot cup of Anderson Island roasted coffee and watch the boats go by. If you're inclined to eat out, there are two casual restaurants/cafes. The Island General Store will meet all of your basic grocery needs. Whether you live in the Seattle, Tacoma, Olympia area and just need a weekend get away, or you're coming from out of state and could use a Puget Sound fix, this is just a short, 20 minute ferry ride from the mainland, and a good place to leave your stress behind. If you prefer to bring your stress with you, we have great phone reception.

On the deck you'll find a hot tub, propane grill, propane fire table and a complete set of patio furniture. Just a few steps to the beach where you'll have 3 kayaks and 2 stand up paddle boards at your service at no additional charge. The calm waters of Oro Bay make for some of the smoothest paddling you'll find anywhere. A short paddle across the bay brings you to Jacobs Point Park Marine Reserve with 82 acres of natural habitat and over a mile of pristine, undisturbed beach. This is the largest natural reserve in the entire Puget Sound. Expect to see our resident seals, heron, deer and eagles. More experienced paddlers can circle the island or head for nearby Ketron Island. If you're lucky you'll see the Orca and Humpback whales that frequently visit southern Puget Sound. If you'd like to bring your own boat we have a buoy right in front of the house. brbrWhatever you like to do, Anderson Island is a great place to do it. Anderson Island is the southernmost island in Puget Sound, just a short 20 minute ferry ride from the historic town of Steilacoom, Washington - about one hour South of Seattle. The home features a stunning view of Mt Rainier, a private setting, and a quiet gravel beach. brbrEnjoy your coffee on a beautiful deck while you watch the sunrise over Mt Rainier. Keep an eye out for bald eagles, seals, porpoise, and an occasional Orca that just might venture by. After breakfast, explore the gravel beach and collect sea shells and agates, write a poem, or read that book you've been meaning to get to. Perhaps you can take a short drive to one of the many island parks, explore one of the amazing hiking trails, or take a dip in the lake at the old swimming hole.brbrInside the home, you will find bright open spaces for family gatherings, a cozy propane stove, comfy couches to curl up on and watch your favorite movie. The home is tastefully decorated in with a fresh costal farmhouse feel, featuring our personal photographs from around the island.
