We drove 13 hours for our trip and the lake house did not disappoint. This property was exactly as it was described in all of the reviews...AMAZING!! It was clean, comfortable and Lynn was more than accommodating, going above and beyond to make sure we had a fantastic time!! We’ll definitely try to stay here again.
Great mountain views, right on the lake. Didn't feel closed in (compared to Veranda Beach, which has little privacy.) Lynn (owner) was fabulous! Steps to upper bedroom are squeaky, but not a big issue since those are used mostly at night. Main floor 2 bedrooms (no steps); step down into living room is a bit deep (not a normal step down); if you're a large person (290lbs or more), bathroom toilet area may be a bit snug. These are not complaints, only observations that may interest others. Had friends who stayed at Veranda Beach in a townhouse and did not like it (3 stories!) Our grandkids did not want to leave. We would go back.
Ever have one of those places you don’t brag about so you can have it all to yourself?
We spent a week along with another family, total 4 adults and 2 kids, during the last week of August. The house was perfect for the 6 of us, very clean, well stocked, cozy and nice, with plenty of room for 6 and the plus of fantastic concord grapes hanging from the patio. The host, Lynn, was great. The week before our planned stay, we were worried about the air quality in the area due to large wildfires in Canada. I inquired her about moving the dates in case we decided not to make it, she was very responsive and flexible to accommodate for changes. Eventually we decided to go, and I'm glad we did as we enjoyed beautiful weather and no smoke. Lynn let our kids play with a peddle boat sitting in her backyard and that, along with a rope swing hanging from the beautiful Willow tree in the backyard, kept the kids busy and happy most of the time. During our stay we did explore a little bit of the area. Molson ghost town was really nice, it has an nice museum, the lady at the museum was a nice lady that told us stories about the region and the history of the town. The town itself is quite well preserved and shows a good insight of the life back in time. Oroville is very quite, but it has a supermarket and a couple of options for dinner. Very close by is the village of Osoyoos, it is more touristic and developed than Oroville. We visited the Nk'Mip Desert Cultural Center and dine at one of the numerous Wineries that are scattered in the area. Our kids will definitively want to go back next year. :-)
We really enjoyed our stay. The kitchen was well stocked with dishes pots and pans etc. There was even a griddle which was great for breakfasts. The Yard was well kept and the lake was great. The bottom stair into the lake was slippery but we cleaned it up. Just watch for it when you first go in. Water shoes are great idea. Thanks Lynn we enjoyed our time Brenda
My sisters and their husbands all enjoyed their relaxing time off as much as my husband and I did at Lynn's place! We kayaked twice across the lake to spend time in a lagoon-river area at the end of Lake Osoyoos. It was very easy kayaking, and we were able to see bald eagles just 20 feet away, along with osprey, lake otter, muskrat, and plenty of small bass fish to catch and release. We also spent time biking in the wine country of Oliver, B.C., which is just a short distance away. Even though the weather was unseasonably cool that three days, we still found lots to do and enjoy. Lynn is a wonderful hostess, and we would be happy to rent from her again. Perhaps next summer!
My family of 6 stayed at lynn's wonderful home on the lake! Couldn't of asked for a better location and home to stay in. Plenty of room for all of us and just loved having my morning coffee by the lake... miss it already. Lynn was wonderful the house had everything we needed we will defiantly be back again. Thank you again Lynn and Belle!
Nice clean property love the place really good fishing from offshore. Kids also enjoyed every minute we spent there. Will go back someday...
Everything was great. We stayed for 4 days and enjoyed everyday there. We found some good restaurants in town, which was just a few minutes drive. The host Lyn could not have been nicer.
Our family of four, along with another family of 4 stayed for a week in the summer and had a super fantastic time just doing nothing for a change - and in the hot sun too! :) Most of our days were spent just relaxing in the sun on the nicely kept grass, or under the beautiful willow tree in the shade when it got too hot, and the kids were mostly (always) in the lake swimming, on the lake in the peddle boat, or fishing from the ledge - with the Dads. The lake was basically our babysitter of our kids, aged 5 - 8 at the time :), oh as well as Belle the bulldog (the owner's dog from next door) who provided lots of entertainment for the kids when they wanted it. She knew when to go home too though. :) The house was perfect - nothing super fancy, but clean, cozy, well stocked, fun for the kids with the loft, and enough space for 8 of us. We loved having all those windows to look out over the lake day and night. Sooo peaceful. The owner was great too. She checked in with us a few times during the week to see how everything was going or if we needed anything, and she was pleasant and interesting enough that we wanted to chat with her more than you normally might when you're on vacation. :) As for activities in the area, there wasn't anything within walking distance - the Oroville side of the lake is pretty quite, but that's what we were there for - peace and quiet and doing nothing! But there was a larger grocery/department store about a 10 or 15 minute drive, half hour drive or so into Osoyoos, 15 minute drive to a super cute new 50's style 'cottages on the lake' development where we went for dinner one evening, there were some restaurants and shopping about an hour drive south, and one afternoon we went for a drive east into the hills to an old town (I forget the name now) that was somewhat of a museum of buildings and artifacts from life there about 100 years ago, including an old school house that was open for tours. It was pretty interesting and nice for a drive one afternoon/evening. The only thing holding us back from going again is the falling Canadian dollar. I'm sure we'll be back in the future. though I would definitely recommend this place to anyone.
