Eagles fly overhead and seals visit the waters in front of the home daily, and if you’re lucky you’ll spot a small pod of Orcas swimming through to find a meal or an otter sun bathing on the floating dock.brThe spacebrSpend your days kayaking, paddle boarding or soaking up the sun along the waterfront, or set out on a day trip to explore the surrounding attractions. A large lawn is perfect for group lawn games – or to toss the ball for your furry family members. Go for long beach walks. Relax in the hammock under the shade of the cherry tree. Or let the kids run wild on the large play set. There are plenty of opportunities to stay busy – or relax! And in the evening, after bbqing on the new deck, enjoy stunning sunsets and star-gazing fireside on the bulkhead.brbrThe four bedrooms comfortably sleep 8 adults and 2 children, with a pull-out sofa in the TV area that can sleep two additional guests and futon-style sofa in common area for 1-2 children. Parking is limited. There is a carport that can fit two average-sized vehicles. There is a gravel parking zone in front of the garage (not accessible) where two cars can fit comfortably, though if you're creative you can squeeze three. (Please be advised some drivers speed along this stretch of road so do not leave children unattended on the road side of the gate.) Additional parking is available upon request (beyond the locked gate - up to two more vehicles).

Enjoy relaxing on the deck, foraging for clams, watching for wildlife, harvesting fruits and vegetables from the garden, and kayaking all from the comforts of the house.brbrOur favorite activities are all right at the house -- playing in the yard, kayaking across the water for dinner at the Boat House followed by ice cream at Olympic Mountain Ice Cream, or watching rain storms from the cozy interior.brbrOur home offers three bedrooms and spacious common areas. The master bedroom faces west with water views and an ensuite bathroom. The second bedroom has two sets of twin bunk beds, which are great for kids. The third bedroom features a water view with lots of windows and a queen bed. All mattresses and bedding are new. For even larger groups, there’s parking for an RV.brbrDogs (a small, additional fee applies for cleaning) and kids are welcome at the house. Please be especially mindful of all animals and kids near the water and especially on the boat ramp - it can be very slippery. We have two portable cribs, crib sheets, and an assortment of children's toys and utensils to make travel easier for you. For dogs, we have a large dog bed, water/meal bowls, and a chuck-it that you may borrow during your stay. Please be respectful of our neighbors and leash dogs when on the beach.brbrThis is an absolute ideal location for a Pacific Northwest vacation. brbrWithin a 30 minute drive, you will find historic Gig Harbor (seaside restaurants, distilleries/wineries, quaint museums, etc.), the Hood Canal (state parks with great hiking trails, Alderbrook Lodge Resort and Spa, Hamma Hamma Oysters, etc.), and many golf courses (Gold Mountain, Trophy Lake, Hawk’s Prairie) throughout the area. brbrWithin an hour, SeaTac Airport, Olympic National Park, Tacoma, and Washington State’s Capitol, Olympia.brbrOnly 1.5 hours from downtown Seattle via ferry or driving directly on I-5. We are 2.5 hours from Portland, Oregon.brbrExample Itineraries:brbrDay One: br- Spend the morning at the house watching the fog lift from the bay br- Drive to Twanoh State Park and walk along the Hood Canal before doing the 3-mile loop trail through the forest. This is a public crabbing spot if you'd like to try your luck as well. Visit the Washington Department of Fish & Wildlife website for more information. br- Afterwards treat yourself to lunch and a spa treatment at the Alderbrook Resort br- On the way home, pickup barbeque (JNR Smoked Meats) and a growler (Bent Brine Brew Co.) and enjoy watching the sunset from the deckbrbrDay Two:br- Get breakfast at one of the many waterfront restaurants in Gig Harbor (NetShed No.9 is a good choice)br- Walk (or drive) along the boardwalk to the Harbor History Museum where you can learn about the area’s rich history br- Walk (or drive) back along the waterfront for a casual lunch at Tides Tavern (no kids allowed)br- Head home for an afternoon of relaxing. Kayak (or drive) across the water for dinner at Lennard K’s boathouse and ice cream at Olympic Mountain (opened seasonally). brbrDay Three:br- Grab breakfast at one of the many espresso stands and drive to the Mt. Ellinor Trailhead in Olympic National Forest. It’s a difficult 6.5 mile hike to the top, but you’ll be rewarded with amazing views. Dogs are allowed on this trail. br- Afterwards drive further up the Hood Canal for freshly shucked oysters from Hamma Hamma Saloon.br- Enjoy the car ride home and pick-up takeout pizza at Seabeck Pizza along the way brbrDay Four:br- Check the tide schedules and go for a long walk on the beach during low tidebr- Dig for clams during lowest part of the tide br- Let them sit for a couple of hours in a bucket of water from the Bay while you relaxbr- Steam them up using your favorite recipe (you're welcome to use any available herbs from the garden) and serve with bread

The North Shore of the Hood Canal hosts some of the warmest waters in the Pacific Northwest. Last summer when we were there the water temperature hit 80 Degrees! Whether you need some time away from the everyday rush or you're looking for an outdoor adventure, you will find what you are looking for at The Beach House on Hood Canal.brbr~ Kitchen ~brUpdated kitchen providing basic housewares in order to cook your family/group that scrumptious meal. Dining ware for 8 people. brbr~ Bedrooms ~brDownstairs bedroom is suited for two people with a king bed.brThe upstairs is broken into to two loft-like rooms-- think large, separated, open area without enclosing doors. One is furnished with a queen bed and full-sized futon. The last bedroom has one queen bed and is open loft style. brbrThe upstairs loft looks into the living room and has panoramic views of the canal. Pictures do not do this view justice, however there is one trying to capture the beauty of the view in our picture selection. brbr~ Living Room ~brOur panoramic view leads to the deck and kitchen/dining as well. We have a 42 TV on top of our decorative fireplace for you to enjoy some television when the time comes. brbr~ Outdoors ~brWe provide you with a grill and a seating area to lounge on the wrap around deck. Also, there's an outdoor shower to rinse the saltwater off. 3 kayaks are provided with life jackets— 4 adjustable adult sizes and 2 youth. Patio furniture is seasonal. Unfortunately at this time, no seafood collection/harvesting is allowed. brbr~ Beach ~brOur house sits on top of the water for parts of the day- literally, it's on stilts! You're welcome to do as you please on our rocky beach. We kindly ask that you refrain from lighting fireworks off and having beach fires near, or underneath, the house. unfortunately at this time, no seafood collection/harvesting is allowed. brbr~ Boating ~brOur house is a 10-minute drive from a boat ramp in either direction. Bring your boat and anchor in front of our place (be aware of the ever-changing tide) for easy access to water-skiing, fishing, and shrimping/crabbing. Kayaks, canoes, and stand up paddle boards are also perfect for this water, year round.brbr~Accessibility~brFor people with limited accessibility, our first floor is accessible to most. Our doors aren’t terribly wide for wheelchairs unfortunately. There’s one short step down from the parking pad to the deck and a short step into the home. Please reference pictures for examples. It has a large closet, California King Tempurpedic bed and Hotel Collection linens. Glass doors lead to a balcony for your morning coffee with Canal and Mount Rainier views. The smaller bedroom is now enclosed with new (2017)twin bunkbeds. The large bathroom has a huge soaking tub that includes the shower, which has views of the water.
