Our home is perched just above the lake at an ideal elevation - high enough to offer an unparalleled, panoramic view of the lake removed from any boat noise, but low enough to be just steps away from our private beach. We have wonderful neighbors, but our property is so private that you may never see them.brbrConstructed of cedar logs and situated on 1.1 park-like acres with over 200 feet of no bank private water front, our spacious home feels like a resort lodge. The house includes 4 large bedrooms plus a loft, a bright well-equipped kitchen, a large open living area with floor to ceiling windows, a recreation/home theater room, and a large jacuzzi/soaking tub. We can sleep 10 in real beds (4 queens, 1 double). A large dining table just off the kitchen on the expansive deck provides a great spot for alfresco dining. With lots of southern exposure the house is bright and sunny year round, offering spectacular views from almost every room.brbrThere is no shortage of recreational activities. Two kayaks and a small aluminum fishing boat are available to explore the water in our backyard. If you'd like to bring your own ski boat, we have a dock and one of the few private boat launches on the lake. Our spacious private beach is double the size of most other lakefront properties in the area. It includes a large dock, fire ring, two picnic tables, a BBQ, lots of seating and plenty of space for waterside relaxation and games. As is true with most properties in our section of the lake, the house is set across the road from the beach and at a slight elevation, which affords stellar views, peace and privacy. The beach is just steps across a very low traffic, quiet road and can be accessed via a set of stairs from the house. Those with mobility issues can conveniently drive right up to the beach. brbrOn rainy days, you can choose from a large library, a wide selection of family games, or a home theater room with a 62' television, X-Box 360 and a large collection of video games, Blu-Ray and DVDs. On the main level, the large open living room has a stereo, but no television, and is a great place to curl up with a book by or just enjoy the panoramic view through the floor-to-ceiling windows.brbrThere are many great spots to escape with a good book or just to enjoy the view and the wildlife (eagles, deer, and geese are all frequently sighted). And the hallways right-hand closet that also has a lock.brbrThings to know before booking:br-The house is built in the side of a mountain and to get to the front door you have to go up a few set of steps.br-Two of the bed frames and and the couch are low to the ground. Two of the bedrooms are in the second floor of the house.br-During Fall and Winter months there are wind storms quite often, and in Sudden Valley this might mean you will lose electricity for a time. This is usually resolved quickly, but please keep this in mind. Sudden valley is peaceful, surrounded by nature, but it also lacks of some of the big city comforts. A perfect getaway if you want peace and quiet and beautiful views.br-During winter time you will have to salt the steps of the house as they might get icy, and will need to shovel the snow if this happens during your stay. We will provide the equipment.br-The house has a wood stove which is amazing and warms the home, but you will need to get your own wood if the one provided runs out.br-This is a pet friendly home. Our cleaner does her best to remove all fur from all surfaces. We lint roll the couch, ottoman, and vacuum everywhere. Linens are washed after every guest, and our mattress are protected with mattress covers. br-This is our family vacation home, please expect there will be some of our items in the house. It's a spacious studio, with 425 square feet, small well-appointed kitchen, ample closet/dresser space, and a roomy bathroom. brbrThis space is best for for one or two people who want to have direct access to downtown, while relaxing and/or working remotely. The apartment faces a city street, and especially during the day you'll hear some traffic noise, and see pedestrians walking by. The location is great if you like to be in the thick of things, and not great if you're looking for secluded and quiet. brbrThe building was originally a church rectory, then converted into an apartment building. A friendly renter lives in the unit directly above. The floor/ceiling is well-insulated, but you may hear them walking around their apartment from time to time. brbrOther details about the space:br-There are security cameras outside over the front door, over the front door of the adjacent unit, over the parking lot, and inside the laundry room. The apartment interior is not visible on any of the security cameras.br-The WiFi is typically fast. The desk is fairly large and could accommodate an external monitor if you travel with one. There's a great sounding Bluetooth speaker on the desk. br-You can sign into your own accounts on the 4K Roku TV.br-The laundry room is located through the door next to the unit, is shared with other guests/renters, and the code is provided and check in and printed in the check in/out instructions in the apartment. We supply a starter pack of detergent pods. br-All windows are double-pane and the walls and ceiling are insulated, which reduces noise. br-All windows have blinds for privacy. br-There is an AC/heat unit with a remote control, a forced air heater in the bathroom, and a portable electric space heater if needed during the coldest time of year. br-The kitchen has a small oven and range, plus pots, pans, utensils, and the basics needed for cooking. br-There is a drip coffee maker, French press, and a starter supply of drip coffee. br-Extra pillows, blankets, and towels are provided.br-The unit is licensed as a short term rental with the City of Bellingham, permit number USE2021-0013.brbrGuests have exclusive access to the entire apartment, including main living space, and bathroom. The front door faces the sidewalk.brbrThere is often also street parking, and it's possible to get a street spot directly in front of the unit. brbrThe apartment is on the edge of downtown and is an easy walk to breweries, coffee, groceries, and entertainment venues.
