There beautiful hikes in and around our valley that we would be happy to recommend.brbrIMPORTANT WINTER INFORMATION :br**Should you travel to the Methow during the winter months it is important to understand that you must be prepared for winter driving(keep chains, shovel...in the car) and all the inconveniences it causes you and the community you are visiting. The weather can be extreme with large snowfalls, unexpected technical issues, frozen pipes, impassable roads/driveways). If it snows while here you will have to wait for plow service just like every other person in the valley. There are a limited number of plow companies and Methow Reservations nor the owners of the house are in control of the plow company schedules. They have many different contracts and many miles of roads, driveways...to plow. If a plow person or a snow shoveler shows up to clear any area around the house, please do not argue with them or turn them away. Move your vehicles if asked. Your cooperation and patience are required especially after any significant snow accumulation. This dog friendly(limit 1) 3-to-5-bedroom home is really, more, a great hall, with the large central space flanked on either side by two bedroom wings. The great room, with it's high vaulted ceiling, is the heart of the house, with the living, dining, kitchen, and video nook in the same space. A series of windows and doors look north to Freestone lake, as well as Goat Rocks, across the valley. The deck outside faces the lake, with a propane BBQ, and outdoor seating.brbrAbout 100 yards away is a small swimming area, dubbed 'South Beach' that is a great, and safe, summer hang-out. The Methow trail system runs through the Freestone area, and in winter you can ski out the door. Additional bedding is provided.brbrThe Freestone Inn, which is about 100 yards away, has a shared hot tub, which is available to the cabin. In winter or summer, groomed ski trails and bike trails are available just outside the door. If it snows while here you will have to wait for plow service just like every other person in the valley. There are a limited number of plow companies and Methow Reservations nor the owners of the house are in control of the plow company schedules. They have many different contracts and many miles of roads, driveways...to plow. If a plow person or a snow shoveler shows up to clear any area around the house, please do not argue with them or turn them away. Move your vehicles if asked. Your cooperation and patience are required especially after any significant snow accumulation.
