Mount Vernon, Washington, United States

Completely outfitted with modern comforts including A/C and a fully stocked kitchen, your stay will feel just like home in the pristine natural beauty of the wilderness. Enjoy a beachfront summer vacation with boating, swimming, kayaking, ATV riding at Walker Valley, and year-round fishing. Or maybe it is time for a cozy fall or winter getaway. You will find it here.brbrThe SpacebrThis charming lakefront home sleeps 6 comfortably. The main floor features a master bedroom with a queen bed and a full bathroom, along with a fully equipped kitchen and living area. Step outside to the lakeside deck, complete with seating, grills, and a fire pit, perfect for meals and relaxing by the water. Inside, an expandable dining table is available, tucked behind a living room chair in front of the sliding door, with folding chairs stored under the staircase.brbrA spiral staircase leads to the loft, which offers a king and a queen bed, a half bath, and a lakeside balcony with sweeping lake views thanks to the loft’s open layout, perfect for morning coffee or sunset watching. The home has heating and A/C, Wi-Fi streaming TV, and all essentials for a relaxing stay. Its unique, open design brings the lake right into every room. Outside, enjoy the lake, dock, yard games, kayaking, fishing, and plenty of space for fun and relaxation.brbrGuest AccessbrGuests have access to the entire property and will enjoy complete privacy. The home and grounds feel safe, welcoming, and secluded, giving you the freedom to relax and unwind. Spend your days on the dock, paddling kayaks on the lake, playing yard games, or enjoying meals on the deck. Everything is yours to explore and enjoy, from the cozy indoor spaces to the beautiful lakefront surroundings.brbrThe HistorybrLake Cavanaugh has deep roots in Washington’s logging history. In the late 1800s and early 1900s, the surrounding forests supported a thriving timber industry, with logs floated across the lake and transported downriver to nearby mills. Early roads, camps, and ranger stations helped manage the land and guide workers and visitors through this rugged landscape. Today, the quiet beauty of the lake remains, offering a peaceful retreat shaped by its working past.brThis home itself is part of that history. Originally built as one of the first ranger stations on the lake, it once served as a gathering point for visitors purchasing firewood permits and learning about the area. Details like the black chain parking barrier, brass boundary marker, and the home’s unique shape are reminders of its past. Staying here means experiencing a rare piece of Lake Cavanaugh’s early stewardship and history.br brGuests with allergies: We love pets, but this is a pet-free property. Unfortunately, we cannot accommodate pets to ensure a comfortable stay for all guests.brbrThe NeighborhoodbrEnjoy a leisurely walk or bike ride along the scenic road that circles Lake Cavanaugh, surrounded by peaceful forest and mountain views. The lake is about a 35-minute drive from Arlington or Mount Vernon, making it an easy escape from town. Nearby adventures include Walker Valley ORV Park, exploring North Cascades National Park, visiting Deception Pass State Park, and enjoying local restaurants and breweries in the area.brbrGetting TherebrLake Cavanaugh is easily accessible from the region’s airports and surrounding towns. Guests flying in typically use Seattle-Tacoma International Airport (SEA), about 1 hour and 35 minutes south, Everett Paine Field (PAE), about 1 hour and 10 minutes south, or Bellingham International Airport (BLI), roughly 1 hour and 10 minutes north. For local travelers, the lake is just over 1 hour from Everett or 45 minutes from Mount Vernon, making it a convenient getaway from either direction.
