Multiple things to help you feel warm including: a tropical themed, enclosed, window-surround front porch, large attached back deck/patio with completely private in-deck 5 person hot tub, and newly installed electric fireplace in the living room. With amenities like fast WiFi, a washer & dryer, Roku, etc. you'll feel right at home. Which is probably because it is our home. The one and only. So if you're looking for the cold, soulless feeling of a developer-owned quick-flipped property, this is not the right place. If you're interested in a true Home, with all the personality, character, and charm, that its 135 years old self can provide, we'd love to have you stay in our home while we are traveling. brThe kitchen is very well appointed and has absolutely anything that you could need in order to cook with, including a full spice rack as well as baking needs and etc. There are also lots of snacks and the food that I did not pack while traveling, which you can help yourself to any of. The lower shelves are cleared off for anything that you may want to use them for. There is a K-Cup coffee maker with numerous varieties of individual coffees, and some instant coffees, as well as powdered creamer, sugar and sugar substitute, some decaf coffees, and both caffeinated and decaf herbal tea. brThe two bathrooms offer a bathtub and shower for your convenience. Relax in the cozy living room with large TV, Roku streaming setup with guest access(which will automatically log you out of any streaming services that you log into while there, on your checkout day), and even a dvd/vhs player. Or enjoy the second bonus living room, which we now refer to as the Multipurpose room, with a sofa bed for extra sleeping space. The multipurpose room also includes a designated work area with desk, laptop stand, mousepad, extra keyboard, etc. This workspace also doubles as a craft corner with fully stocked variety of crafting supplies for both kids and adults, that you are welcome to create with. And the other half of the room includes a reading/games area with various books, plus shelves full of board games, card games etc to play together. brPets are allowed, with a pet fee to help recoup the extra cleaning costs. There is a small dog door in the back door that leads to the large fully fenced grass backyard. See pet rules for details. brThis property has free street parking with numerous spaces always available out front. The neighborhood is 6 minutes from the center of downtown slc, and there are two separate Parks, one small, one large within 2 blocks of the house. Due to its age, the upstairs area can get warmer during the peak summer months. While the home is equipped with fans upstairs to help keep guests comfortable, please understand that there are some limitations to cooling options given the historic structure. We want all our guests to have a wonderful stay and appreciate your understanding of this special home’s quirks!brbrIf you are unfamiliar with central air there are a few things we would like to share to help make your stay as comfortable as possible!brbrAir Conditioning units work most efficiently when temperatures are reduced gradually. Allow the unit to cool the home in 2 degree increments and take a break for at least 30 mins before proceeding to the next temperature drop. Once you reach your desired temperature, you can leave it on hold and it will comfortably maintain the home. For example, if the home is 78 and I wish to reduce it to 72 then I would set the temperature to 76 then from 76 to 74 and 74 to 72 (taking 30 min breaks after each temperature threshold is met). Taking these types of breaks between cooling cycles to get to the desired temperature you want will help ensure the system doesn't overwork itself and create a frozen coil! Once I am at 72 you can leave it at the desired temperature and the system will kick on automatically as needed.brbrIn the event that a frozen coil occurs, you will have the AC turned on and the cool air won't circulate!!!brbrIn order to resolve this you will need to turn the temperature setting up (80-85 or so) so the outside AC condenser shuts off and run the unit in the fan only mode for a FEW HOURS (often 8-12 hours) in order to defrost the coils entirely. When you turn the unit back on, be sure to follow the 2 degree cooling cycle that is outlined above or the coil will freeze and you will find yourself in a hot home all summer long!brbrPlease note: that there is no temperature lock on the thermostat. However, it is not recommended to have the temperature set to more than 20 degrees cooler than the outside temperature. For example, if the outside temperature is 95 degrees, we advise not to set the home below 75 degrees.brbrFailure to follow these instructions will cause frozen coils that we described above and result in any maintenance calls or repairs to become your financial responsibility.
