This cabin is a short distance to one of the community pools. The cabin is located right off the Parkway and is a 6 minute drive to The Island & a 15 minute drive to Dollywood. It is less than a 25 minute drive to Gatlinburg in one direction and to Soaky Mountain Waterpark in the other direction. You.Are.Central. brbrYou'll enjoy the brand new 55 Roku TV in the living room while lounging on the comfortable couches. There's plenty of dining space at the table and countertops and the kitchen is stocked with dishes and cups for days! Please read all of this info to make sure this is a good fit for you. We don't want you to be surprised by anything. Questions are welcome!brbrOur family built this cabin in the nineteen seventies using 100 year old hand-hewn logs. We have spent many happy summers here, adding improvements over time. The cabin is nestled in the woods at the end of a single lane, mile-long private gravel drive. It is cozy and quiet, and the drive is great for walks. Only a few miles out of Pigeon Forge, but a world away from the hustle and bustle, you can go do the tourist thing and come home to peace and quiet, or you can just stay up here on the ridgetop and enjoy the wildlife.brbrThe kitchen is fully supplied except for a dishwasher. There is a coffee maker, electric water pot, microwave, range and oven, fridge, blender and all cooking and eating utensils. Also an outdoor charcoal grill.brbrA couple things we want you to be aware of before you book, so you know what you are getting:brbrThe road in (and out) is a single lane gravel road up that has a few moderately steep sections. Honestly, not that steep for around here. Very rarely you meet another car on the road. There are a number of turn-outs and spots where you can get by one another, but occasionally one car will have to back up a little bit (if it's us, we'll be happy to). Roads like this are common in the area as its hard to cut two lane roads into mountainsides. If you take your time and drive slow, there won't be an issue. We haven't had a single accident on the road in over 75 years.brbrThere are two other guest cabins on the property one of which you'll pass on the way in. brbrThe cabin has an open design, which gives it a lovely big feeling. brbrThe loft is accessed by a ladder so please be careful! This is the only way up to the second floor where the single beds are, so if you have small kids this might not be the ideal place for you. There is a gate at the entrance to the loft that can be shut at night.brbrThis is a rustic cabin in the woods, and hence there are elements of nature that might impact your stay despite our best efforts. We ask that if you want to walk, you stay on the road to avoid forest dangers like poison ivy and snakes. Also, black bears are not uncommon on the property during the warmer months. They are cute but they are wild animals and potentially dangerous, so please be careful and don't leave food outside, or garbage except in the bear proof garbage can. Do not approach a bear, don't take a selfie with it, and NEVER feed a bear! For more information, see materials in the cabin.brbrBottom line: if you love the idea of a quiet rustic getaway in the thick of nature, you will love this place like we do. Welcome! If you're looking for a place to get wild and party like a rock star for a few days, our cabin probably isn't a good fit.

Charming authentic cabin with modern additions on a 70 acre private nature reserve with great views of the Smokies. Cabin has great room with a king bed and a queen and a full bed in the loft. The sunroom has large windows with mountain views. Porch. Full kitchen. Yard w/ fire pit. Wifi. Over mile long private wooded driveway to walk your pets. If amazing views, nature & privacy with comfortable accommodations are your style, then our cabin will be a good fit.brbrThis is an hand-hewn log cabin built like they used to make them (not from a kit). You can see photos of the construction of the cabin (1948) on the wall. We have done lots of modernizing renovations to the kitchen, bathroom and sun porch, but the original cabin is much as it has been for 70 years. Note the ceiling in the bathroom is just over six feet (grandma and grandpa weren't tall), so if you are tall, keep this in mind.brbrThe cabin can sleep six, but its a cozy 6. There is a king bed in the main room and a queen and a full in the loft, and the loft is open to the main cabin. Best suited for couples or small families with kids who don't mind sharing the loft space and parents who don't mind that the kids are sleeping just up in the loft.brbrWe have a pet bed and two collapsible pet crates (one small (17x19x24), one large (29x48x32)) if your pet is better off in a crate when your not here. We have pet food and water bowls on site as well (four total). brbrWe ask that you do not allow your pets in the loft. It is hard for the housekeeper to clean dog hair up there and if your dog were to jump over the wall it would be a hard landing!brbrThe driveway in is a long, single lane gravel road. There are lots of spots where two cars can pass each other, but you're very unlikely to meet anyone as the whole property is a cul de sac and there are just a couple of cabins on it.brbr
