The beaches on Emerald Isle are gorgeous white sand, great for swimming and fishing. No hotels or commercial activity on the beach makes this an unspoiled, family-oriented place to enjoy the beach. We rent the Sailfish only to family groups of up to 14 persons. Our house sits on the 2nd row, right across the street from beachfront. Walk down our walkway and cross the small street to the public beach access right in front of the house. If you want to go clamming in the sound, just walk down our driveway and cross the street in the other direction, to reach the sound.brThe Sailfish is fully air conditioned, has two floors, ocean views from each floor, and 7 comfortable bedrooms. Two rooms dedicated to play: the upstairs sunroom with game tables, and the downstairs rec room with ping pong table. Our parents built this lovely large space so that our family could vacation together. We hope you will enjoy it as much as we still do!brUpstairs, there are 4 bedrooms and two full baths that interconnect between bedrooms. Two ocean-view bedrooms have 1 queen bed each. And, if you have a well-behaved and clean four-legged friend (or two) who you’d really like to enjoy your vacation with, we’ll allow them, too! Emerald Isle is dog friendly; they’re even allowed on the beach year-round and at nearly all outdoor restaurants! If we approve your dog(s) to stay, our pet fee is $35/night for the first dog and $15/night for a second (the second pet fee will be invoiced separately from your initial VRBO booking). This is much less expensive and much more fun than boarding your best friends! brbrOur well maintained and loved cottage rests on a one-lane, tree-lined street that dead ends at a court overlooking the beautiful Bogue Sound. The Sound is also partly visible from the cottage's front yard and living room. The cottage's driveway is right off the court and has ample private parking. brbrBeach fans will love how convenient the sand and warm ocean waters are from Angels Landing. Two different beach access points are a short walk. The beach is such a short distance that it won’t be a problem to dash home for lunch, supplies, and naps, or to head back to the beach in the evening to witness sunsets that will take your breath away (see our pictures for an example). Our south-facing beach has amazing sunsets and boasts warm waters during an extended May through October/November swim season. We provide beach chairs, a beach cart, a Shabumi beach shade, boogie boards, a skim board, and some other beach toys and games to enjoy (like Can Jam, a Frisbee, bocce ball, etc.). And, you'll always have plenty of space to spread out on the beach even during the busiest summer days because there is not public parking where our home's access points are!brbrWhen you come home from the beach, you'll enjoy the large outdoor shower that has hot water and views of the Live Oak trees and canal. The separate, large changing area makes for added convenience. brbrOur home features a huge, 20x25 foot deck that includes a 6-person hot tub! An outdoor dining table is the perfect place for enjoying meals outside, and the soft lighting that we provide creates a great space for continuing the conversation and fun outside after the sun sets. The deck overlooks a back yard that is full of mature, Live Oak trees, and a canal with a private dock. The deck is completely private -- your neighbors and you won't be looking at each other! The view from the deck also is spectacular on clear nights. The lack of light pollution at this part of the island makes for a spectacular night sky. brbrThe canal out back leads out to the Bogue Sound and is extremely peaceful. Our private dock has Adirondack chairs in the shade - perfect for reading a book or simply having a drink while you watch and listen to the birds go about their day. Launch our two kayaks or an adult-sized paddle board (life vests also provided) from the dock or from a water's edge spot that's also on our property. The Bogue Sound is known for great fishing, oysters, and other wildlife, and has lots of islands to explore that you can only access via kayak.brbrThe large yard boasts mature Live Oak trees in an undisturbed setting, providing shade, privacy, and a home to native birds. They'll sing as you sip your coffee on the deck or the dock. This is our favorite to have morning coffee because you can hear the waves crashing. There are 2 back decks that are connected; one is screened in. The Sunning deck has 3 Adirondack chairs, 2 side-tables, a large umbrella and a propane grill (we provide propane). Outdoor deck lighting allows for this space to be enjoyed in the evening. The screened in deck has fans and a dining table with six chairs.brbrPARKINGbrThis is a private stand alone home. There are two available spots under the home and it can fit two more cars in the driveway.brbrWHAT YOU MAY NOT LOVEbr-The master bathroom is also the only bathroom on the first floor.
