You will feel tucked away in a magical place, yet be only minutes from Blowing Rock and the Blue Ridge Parkway. We have a privacy wall and have planted trees between the cabin and ourselves to ensure our guest have a great stay. brCars are necessary to get around. The road is black top but uphill. .brbrThis home was built to take in all of the wonderful views of the mountains. It is the most comfortable home that I have ever lived in. You wake in the morning to the sounds of birds and nature.brThe view is to the south looking over the John River Gorge. The address is technically Lenoir NC but that is confusing. Lenoir is 20 miles away and this house sits high on the wooded Ridge line just 2.5 miles from the village of Blowing Rock. Yes, it only takes about 5 minutes to drive into the town! The area is Pisgah national Forest and is special in that this area will not be developed in the future due to the National Forest designation. In the winter the view is also very enchanting due to the fact that far, far in the distance you can see the East West corridor of I- 40. We call it the ribbon of lights that run just along the horizon line way out beyond the mountains. It highlights the beauty of the multi layered view of the mountains.

“Rocky Meadows is our home my husband and I now use for short term vacation rental. Rocky Meadows is close to 221 but has a feeling of seclusion. Sits on 3 acres, no other houses visible. There are two bedrooms, a queen-size bed in one and a bunk that has a full-size bottom bed with a twin in the upper. The great room was designed with family time in mind. The covered back deck has a patio table chairs and gas grill for outdoor entertaining. We have a full basement that is pretty much empty except for the washer and dryer. Designed and built by the owners this simple cabin utilizes many re-purposed materials. The floors are oak drawer fronts that were free and obtained from a cabinet shop that closed. The walls and ceilings are finished yellow pine, the window and door casings have Sweet Gum boards. All of these boards were cut off the property then dried and milled.

Centrally located between Boone and Blowing Rock you’ll have easy access to all the fun attractions the High Country has to offer. It’s a short drive to App State, the Blue Ridge Parkway, snow skiing resorts, hiking trails, waterfalls, lakes and more. brOur two story home provides easy access up a few steps to the porch and through the front door. From there you’ll arrive at the spacious, fully equipped open kitchen with stainless steel appliances. The table with seating for six is conveniently located in the kitchen area and a half bath with enclosed full size washer and dryer is off to the left. Beautiful, large plank hardwood floors are found throughout the entire home. The main living space offers a gas fireplace, large screen TV, and comfortable seating but the star of the show is the amazing view from the expansive wall of windows in the living area. The first floor deck is accessed from here and offers a gas grill, outside dining table, comfy chairs with ottomans for relaxing and taking in the view. It’s a wonderful spot to enjoy your morning coffee, watch the sunset over the mountains or just spend time with family and friends. The primary bedroom, also on the main floor, includes a comfortable king size bed, and TV. From the double windows in this bedroom you also have a magnificent view of the mountains. The adjacent bathroom offers a double vanity and shower.brDownstairs you’ll find a second spacious living area with a game table and chairs, large screen TV and comfortable seating. There are two downstairs bedrooms as well. The first has a king size bed and the second has two twin beds. Both bedrooms are spacious and have closets with extra pillows and blankets. We store our collection of board games in the twin bedroom closet. The full size shared bathroom downstairs offers a single vanity with a bathtub/shower combo. The downstairs deck is accessed from the living area and boasts a large hot tub, as well as a small table and chairs. brOur location is a short 10-12 minute drive to either downtown Boone or Blowing Rock, so it is ideally located. We are very close to the Blue Ridge Parkway, Appalachian State University, Tweetsie Railroad, and numerous other High Country attractions. Every season has something spectacular to offer in the High Country!brWe are located down a slightly steep, shared driveway so 4 wheel drive vehicles are recommended in the winter months. We have three clearly marked parking spaces, two to the right of the home and one to the left. You will be provided a unique guest code to be used at the front door entry keypad. brWe are strictly a NONSMOKING property. We do not allow any type of smoking anywhere on the premises, including the decks and front porch. brWe do not allow pets.brYou must be at least 25 years of age to book our home. br
