Shinnecock Golf Course is less than 4 miles by back roads (avoid the deplorable traffic on Montauk Highway); high ceilings and lots of windows make this ranch style home a bright and relaxing escape. The large salt water pool (44x18) and commodious deck encourage outdoors living, very private acre at the end of the road - but if you want the chic glamour of the Hamptons, the village is 4 miles away, and the ocean is 5 miles - an easy bike ride. Laundry facilities and a powder room are off of the sunny kitchen, with a large island that facilitates entertaining, plenty of dishes and glassware. The Dining room is off or the kitchen and living room, with the Weber grill just outside. The Living room boasts a baby grand piano, fireplace, game table and comfortable seating. Each bedroom sleeps 2, the house is nicely appointed; hall bathroom for the two guest rooms, ensuite bath w jacuzzi for principal suite.brI only host during the Golf Open and reviews from the Open in 2013 are archived and not available. My guests enjoyed fresh eggs from my son's chickens, fresh fish he caught that day, at no cost, simply for the fun of hosting. I hosted a Podiatrist from Philly, 2 lawyers from Seattle and a volunteer from Brazil, it was enjoyable and convenient, If you choose to stay in the Village or near Noyac Road, it could take an hour to get 4 miles but my home avoids these bottlenecks. Last time Tiger got caught in Noyac road traffic from his yacht in Sag Harbor and couldn't warm up and performed poorly. From my home, you take Big Fresh Pond Rd to Millstone Brook to Barkers Island Rd which ends at the club.

Heated pool and spa are securely gated away from the house for added safety. brbrLight fills every room in the house through skylights, large windows and French doors as well as in the finished basement which has several light-wells and oversized glass doors with a stairway leading to the pool area. A detached garage provides an outdoor bath and shower. The upper floor has vaulted ceilings and each bedroom has its own full bath. A manicured half-acre yard has plenty of grass for playing and the property is surrounded with 12+ foot arborvitae for year round privacy.brbrThe kitchen area is the heart of the house, complete with calacata gold marble tops, 8 burner Viking range, Sub-Zero fridge, wall mounted ovens with heating drawer, two dishwashers and an under-counter microwave. The kitchen connects to the family room and looks out on the backyard and pool as well as giving a view to the front of the house. A big screen TV sits centered in built-in bookshelves and the family can relax at the kitchen table while their meal is being made.brbrA traditional home with paneled foyer and vaulted ceiling, there is a flow to the house that welcomes every guest. The full dining room with seating for twelve has a gas fireplace and built-in shelving. French doors and a brick patio run the length of the rear of the house. The living room has a tall mantled wood-burning fireplace with skylights and large double height window facing the side yard. Relax and play chess or backgammon on the antique table complete with wood pieces. The children can watch as they sit in the bay-like window that is surrounded by built-in book shelves.brbrIn the rear yard there is plenty of room to stretch your legs on deck chairs or enjoy the pool and oversized spa. A natural gas grill is set to bbq your fresh meats from Smitts grocer, Citarella or the Clam man who are a 2 minute drive down the road. An outdoor table is well shaded under the home’s rear overhang. brbrIn the finished basement you will find a large open room with big screen TV and 10 foot ceilings.
