The Gifford is a bright and cheery, lovely home with both breathtaking mountain and serene pastoral views. It is located on 3 acres in the town of Cornwallville, a peaceful corner of the Catskills in beautiful upstate New York. The first floor of this two-story Cape Cod has an airy country eat-in kitchen, complete with cooking and serving supplies. The family room provides games and a television with a selection of DVDs for your entertainment. The glass-doored woodstove in the living room provides added warmth for those chilly winter evenings, while the attached deck offers a wonderful view of our Catskill sunsets (complete with horses). The master bedroom has a queen bed and cozy writing nook. Two full bathrooms are also located on this floor, as is a laundry. The upstairs has three bedrooms; two bedrooms each with queen beds, and the third is the children’s bedroom room which has one bunk bed and two twin beds. brbr We are pleased to announce that we have recently installed Wi-Fi so those who would like to be connected are able to be. brbrWe include a complimentary take-home breakfast gift basket with your 2 night stay!brbrbrOn the FarmbrbrWinter is a magical season here; it is a wonderland of snow-covered, majestic mountains where adventure awaits you. The spacious backyard has plenty of room for playing in the snow and a stone fire pit to enjoy s’mores or roasting hot dogs. There is a picnic table and chairs to relax on while taking in the star studded sky undisturbed by city lights. Bring your own gear or rent locally to enjoy access to our 300-acre farm to snowshoe or sled. In fact, it’s just a moment’s walk to the main farmhouse where we live and the hub of Hull-O Farms, which of course you’re welcome to explore and enjoy to your heart’s content. During your stay, you’ll be welcome to participate in any activities or ‘chores’ happening while you’re here, such as feeding the animals. There is internet and cell phone reception.brbrIts a great house for a large group. Big dinners cooked in the large kitchen that has everything you will need. An amazing old fashioned tub for soaking after skiing. A downstairs bedroom for people who don't want to go upstairs. Amazing views from all the rooms. Gorgeous sunrise and sunsets and great star gazing. Fall might be my favorite time of year here but all of them are great.brbrbedrooms: 3 queen size bedrooms , 3 double bedrooms, and 1 twin bedroom. In the summer there is an additional twin in the tower. One of the large queen bedroom's has an extra twin bed.brbrThe house is situated on a historic scenic byway ( the Susquahanna Turnpike) in the beautiful Durham Valley. There are epic views of mountains and valleys and dramatic natural vistas. Great hiking, waterfalls, swimming holes, cute historic towns and farms. This area was originally a great escape for New Yorkers seeking to beat the heat of the city. In the winter it offers skiing with several choices of mountains, Windham, Hunter, and a little drive to Belleayre. There is also a fun activities resort called BearPenbrbrThere is a bus that leaves from NYC to Windham twice a day with a local car service to take you to the house. You can also take a train to Hudson and then a taxi to the house. It really best to have a car so you can travel around the area once you are there.

Only 10 minutes from downtown Windham with access to a main road, this house is also perfectly secluded and enjoys incredible quietude due to being on the side of Mt. Pisgah, surrounded only by thick forest and beautiful farmland. Out back, a private hot tub sits on the brand new 'trex' deck, overlooking a stone fire pit and a star-studded view that stretches all the way to Massachusetts. In the summer, picnic and play games on a sprawling lawn.brbrInside, a fully stocked kitchen (including spices, coffee, and other essentials) and wood-burning majestic stone fireplace await cozy days spent holed up. Four bedrooms with queen-size memory foam beds (one of which has a twin bed bunked above it) and fresh organic cotton linens will easily accommodate you and your friends. Two charming bathrooms offer updated rain head showers. A wood stove in the upstairs master bedroom provides a warm and romantic ambiance. Enjoy a home-cooked meal in the stunning window-filled dining room which easily seats eight.brbrUpstairs, there is a TV Room with all comfy oversized couches; there are comfortable and lovingly maintained furnishings, beds and linens throughout the house.brbrThere are incredible hiking, biking, skiing and countless other activities in the area. We have a list of our favorite things to do nearby that we can provide upon booking. brbrSome things to note: br(1) Guests must check out no later than 11:00am, unless we give prior written approval of a later check-out. This is to allow a proper cleaning before the next guests arrive. Please be respectful of the cleaning staff's time. brbr(2) For summer renters, please note that the house does not have air conditioning. The cabin is situated on the side of a mountain which is usually 10 or 15 degrees cooler than the valley floor. There are ceiling fans throughout the house.brbr(3) We have done our best to update the house with modern comforts! That being said, the house is in a rural area so internet speeds are not as fast as they are in the city. We have found that the internet is reliable enough to check emails or work remotely.brbr(4) While the house is finished and fully insulated, and cleaned for every renter, it is located in the mountains and (depending on the time of year), some critters do find their way into the home despite our best efforts and pest-proofing. Again, we have found that being careful about food clean-up and securing doors/windows (especially at night) minimizes any issues.brbr(5) The basement houses our laundry facilities and bike and ski workshop. But please do not try to drive cars down the slope to the doors, as it is muddy most of the year. As noted in our house manual you will receive, we also ask you to please only park in the designated area.brbr(6) Use of the hot tub and fire pit are at renters' own risk. brbrWe love our home and want to be upfront with our renters.
