The Cathead Bay Sandcastle, that many of you have come to know and enjoy, has moved to a bigger house on the same beautiful beach. This new location has an even greater view of one of the most beautiful beaches in the world! brbrThis house has two large family rooms and a living room. We are still allowing up to two dogs, no more than 50 lbs.brbrThe great room on the main floor is walled with beautiful tongue and groove planks, a hardwood floor and has way more space than we had at the original Sandcastle. The family room on the third floor has a huge sectional, 75” Smart TV and an awesome view of Lake Michigan. brbrWith a Full/Twin bunk bed, queen bed, king bed, and twin bed(In a bedroom that is accessed off the master bedroom), plus a queen sleeper sofa in the first floor family room, there is plenty of space for all guests. We also have a huge jetted tub now! There is also an office/sitting area off the master bedroom. brCathead Bay Sand Castle sits on the shore of Lake Michigan and is in a private community on Cathead Bay. It is one of the best kept secrets of Northern Michigan. We are literally on the tip of the Leelanau Peninsula! The light house is five minutes away. brbrThe house is surrounded by a nature preserve and sits at the foot of the Leelanau State Park Dunes. You can cross the road and take a hike up the dunes and usually you will have them all to your self, because the public has to park miles away and hike in to get to them.brbrThe beach is pristine with fine, sugary sand and not rocky like the Grand Traverse Bay side can be and it is sandy as far out into the lake as you can walk. This beach seems almost tropical and you can walk the shore for miles. If you head south you will end up, after the last house, in an area of protected lake shore that is also part of Leelanau State Park.brbrThe town of Northport is about 15 minutes down the road and it has a great grocery store(Tom’s) and some restaurants and bars. You can be in Leland with the quaint shops of Fishtown and Suttons Bay with all of it’s shops and restaurants in 25-30 minutes. If gambling is your thing, there is the Leelanau Sands Casino in Peshawbestown, which is a little north of Sutton’s Bay. The “Big Town” of Traverse City is about forty five minutes south and so is Glen Arbor, home of our favorite coffee, Leelanau Coffee Roasters and for everything cherry there is Cherry Republic. The Leelanau Peninsula is home to several wineries that have tours.brbrThe house faces west, so you will see some of the most amazing sunsets you have ever seen. At night there is no city light pollution so the sky is loaded with stars and at certain times you may even see the Northern Lights!brbrWhether you want to sit and relax all day by the beach, swim, golf, go off exploring the many hiking trails in the area, check out the nearby towns, take a bike ride, hit the casino, plus so much more, we think you will be glad you chose the Sandcastle on Cathead Bay. brThe deck has a table with seating for 8, two lounge chairs and a couple of other chairs. This remodeled home is in the village of Northport, just 2 blocks from downtown and is a vacation rental which opened in July of 2017. Please also see our other property in Northport, # 731696 for reviews, as it will give you information on how sparkling clean and nice our homes are. brbr The house is a very airy and comfortable, 4 bedroom, 2.5 bath home with large yard and patio. The street is quiet and not busy, so great for kids. Home has been remodeled with new kitchen, new flooring ( tile, wood and carpeting). Furnished tastefully with new living and dining room furnishings. Bathrooms have updated and freshly painted. Master bedroom with private full bath is downstairs (new queen bed). There is also a second bedroom downstairs (full size bed). There is an additional full bath on the first floor. .Both full baths have tub/shower which are great for bathing the kiddos. Plenty of towels provided. Upstairs are two large bedrooms and the largest of the two has a half bath. One of the upstairs rooms has a queen bed and the other has three singles. The half bath is in the one with the three single beds. The upstairs bedrooms have window A/C units. Downstairs bedrooms have ceiling fans.The home has a large laundry/mud room with front loading washer and dryer as well as washtub and plenty of closet space. There are several closets so no shortage of places to hang clothes up. Outdoors there is a large yard and patio. Patio has gas grill and charcoal Weber for those who enjoy charcoal grilling. Patio has table for four and additional chairs are provided. Nice gardens surround the home. This home is on a quiet street with very little through traffic. The yard has plenty of sun but also plenty of shade as well with large oak trees. Very private back yard. Driveway can accommodate 3-4 vehicles and there is plenty of street parking. It is 2 blocks from downtown and an easy walk to the marina park, brew pub, grocery store, restaurants and shops are just a few short blocks away. Nine hole public golf course in the village is less than 5 minute drive. The fourth of July is really festive in Northport with music in the marina park and spectacular fireworks. Popular wedding venue, Willowbrook, is a 3 block walk. Music in the park every Friday evening (summer months). Beautiful marina with public boat launch and beach on North end of Grand Traverse Bay. Close to State Park and lighthouse with miles of beach and pristine shoreline. Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore as well as numerous wineries and golf opportunities are just minutes from this prime location. House is 4 bedroom (three queens, two singles) and two full baths. Central A/C, cable TV, wi-fi, DVD, washer and dryer are available for use. Kitchen is equipped with microwave, coffee maker, Kuerig, blender, coffee bean grinder, and dishwasher. All stainless appliances and granite counter tops.
