Our beaches are some of the most pristine and quiet in all of coastal Florida. There are no high rises blocking your Gulf views, unpaved sandy roads, and a relaxed Old Florida atmosphere. There is one restaurant called the Rum Bay that serves lunch and dinner. The car ferry runs continually from 6:30 am until 10:00 pm from Sunday through Thursday and until 11:00 pm Friday and 12:00 midnight Saturday. You drive your car onto the ferry and then directly to your vacation rental home. It's a very special place to vacation.. All of our properties on Palm Island require a ferry ride to get there. One round trip on the ferry for car and passengers costs $55. The alternative is to purchase a book of 10 round trips for $400, or $40 per round trip. The heart of the home is the gourmet kitchen, featuring top-of-the-line appliances, a convenient island with seating for 4 and a dining table that comfortably seats 8, plus a kids table! The screened in Lanai, has comfortable seating with views overlooking the dock and the Intercoastal Waterway (ICW).brThe heated pool is totally private and features and sitting area off the side under the main house. The dock is sheltered and has easy acces to the ICW. Great fishing right from the dock!brHave you vacationed on the island before Palm Island a.k.a. Don Pedro Island, is a barrier island 7 miles long between Sarasota and Ft. Myers on the Gulf coast with sugar-sand beaches, beautiful harbors and lagoons, great fishing and shelling only accessible by a short 10 minute car ferry or private boat. Our beaches are some of the most pristine and quiet in all of coastal Florida. There are no high rises blocking your Gulf views, unpaved sandy roads, and a relaxed Old Florida atmosphere. There is one restaurant called the Rum Bay that serves lunch and dinner. The car ferry runs continually from 6:30 am until 10:00 pm from Sunday through Thursday and until 11:00 pm Friday and 12:00 midnight Saturday. You drive your car onto the ferry and then directly to your vacation rental home. It's a very special place to vacation. We have kayak rentals and golf cart rentals for your use during your vacation. All of our properties on Palm Island require a ferry ride to get there. One round trip on the ferry for car and passengers costs $55. The alternative is to purchase a book of 10 round trips for $400, or $40 per round trip. For more information on the ferry, google Palm Island Transit. It runs from Eldred's Marina on Boca Grande Causeway and you can park anything there (truck/trailer/RV) for $10/day. There is no fixed schedule, you book it in advance. It runs every day of the year. It is more expensive outside of 8a-5p. If you want to rent, or bring your own boat, our association has 2 private guest docks (with multiple slips). Max boat length is 24ft; only 1 boat per booking. Island Girls run an airport service from Sarasota/Fort Myers/Punta Gorda/Tampa airports so you don't need to rent a car.brbrWith that short ride across the bay, you'll leave behind the crowds and you'll swap the noise of trucks and cars for the sound of waves lapping the beach. Yes, it's truly that special! The beach is never crowded and there are no commercial hotels/resorts/businesses.brbrBecause the houses on the south end of LGI are properly set back off the beach, you can stroll along it and enjoy the dunes and sea oats as your backdrop. Bring down a lounger and, with so few people, you'll feel like you're on your own private stretch of beach. (We provide multiple loungers, Adirondack chairs, beach umbrellas and a deck parasol.)brbrSea turtles nest on the beach right in front of the house (May-Aug) so you may well see them, or their hatchlings, as they head out into the Gulf (Jul-Oct). Pretty much every day you'll see dolphins feeding/playing/cruising and rare birds along the beach. We have 2 kayaks so you can get out on the water and you'll likely come across manatees and manta rays and you could have a close encounter with the dolphins.brbrFishing all around the island is unsurpassed (flats/inshore, nearshore and offshore) - snook, snapper, mackerel, grouper, redfish, trout, tarpon... If you don't have a boat, fishing guides will pick you up from the island.brbrTYPICAL (YET UNIQUE) GUEST EXPERIENCES: brbrSo for the highlight of our trip - we got to watch a tiny baby Loggerhead turtle come out of his nest and make his trek down to the sea right in our backyard!! All beds have cooling gel, memory foam mattresses. The 1st master suite has a Gulf view, a king-sized bed and en-suite shower with walk-through toilet/bidet. Once back from the beach, you can rinse off with the hot water, outside shower on the deck - and enjoy its unobstructed beach view! brbrLOGISTICS:brThere is an island grocery delivery service. They can even get everything into the house before your arrival. At the house there is a regular fridge/freezer, plus 2 small fridges and a small freezer so, you can bring/order, everything you need in one load.brbrIn addition to a fully-stocked kitchen, CocoHut has 2 grilling options - charcoal and gas grills. We provide propane.brbrIt's a 5 min walk (~400 yards) from the dock to the house - so you'll need our sherpa to help get everything to the house, or a golf cart - which you can rent on the island.brbrWith a golf cart you can explore the sandy paths and ride up to the state park in the middle of the island (or walk up along the beach). The island is about 7 miles long, the state park is 2 miles north. It's soft white sand with glorious shells. The gently shelving beach with turquoise water is perfect for families! brbrThere are no commercial properties or businesses on the island (no hotels/resorts/restaurants, grocery stores/shops) - and thus none of the associated crowds/traffic/noise/light pollution. The only ‘exceptions’ are the few private individuals who a) rent golf carts, b) deliver groceries, c) are dock-to-house sherpas, or d) offer household trash removal.brbrFor your safety, there is 24/7, 365/yr, professional paramedic/EMS stationed on the island. They can get you to a mainland hospital if necessary.brbrOTHER STUFF:brCocoHut has Starlink WiFi. Download speed is ~100 mbps and often higher; upload speed is typically 20+ mbps. Reliability is excellent. There is no wired cable/fiber optic service to the island; so this is as good as it gets.brbrThe main living area has DirecTV. There are smart/Roku TVs in the master suites. brbrPlease note that all children/ toddlers/ infants/ babies count towards your total number of guests - there are no age-based exemptions. You will need to make an appointment with the water taxi, rent a boat, or bring your own boat. Bringing your own boat The house has access to a community dock that is perfect for fishing or watching the beautiful sunrise over the Boca Grande Causeway. The dock has a 22ft. maximum and only allows 1 boat per household. Boat pass is required - no assigned slips, first come first serve. brbrFor the water taxi, you’ll park your car at Eldred’s Marina and load your luggage on the water taxi there. The water taxi is $30 for up to 2 people, one way. Each additional person is $15, one way. The water taxi is by appointment only and its hours are 8:30-5:00. You can book appointments outside the normal hours of operation, but the cost is higher and varies based on the time.brbrbrThe dock is about a ¼ mile walk or golf cart ride to the house. brbrbrThe house sits next to a shared beach access used only by other guests staying on this private island, so there may be some foot traffic, but it is minimal compared to a public beach.brbrThe beach is private to the island, but it is shared among island homeowners and guests.
