Hike north along the beach to reach Caladesi Island, one of the last undeveloped barrier islands on the East Coast of Florida. brYou may find something cheaper on the mainland or on a canal, but here you are on the beach. It takes a little over an hour, past the beach mansions. Caladesi Island is now joined with Clearwater Island although some maps still show the two separated. There are nature trails on the Island which has a forest ranger station and three climatic zones: a palmetto forest, a pine forest and a hammock canopy.
